One would think that the announcement that a show is doing so well that a third season is guaranteed before it's second even premiers but it apparently isn't. And in a way I guess I can maybe see where they're coming from? I mean what if the second season does so abysmally that Disney no longer wants to pursue a third season? If they already announced a third season so far in advance then they're sort of stuck having already agreed to something. Keeping word under wraps for as long as possible keeps the door open to shelving things whenever they want. Sure, not a good reason but it's probably something they keep in mind. Or maybe it's just something as simple as them wanting to save the big announcement for a time where they want to draw more attention to something else along side it? Maybe that spinoff show that was talked about a while back from the Kiff creators?

I still believe a third season is happening and that they simply postponed the announcement, but I hadn't considered the possibility of it being Season 2B reframed as a "third season." Disney's never done that before with their TV cartoons, so if that turns out to be what happens, it'll be a new low for the company. I don't care if we start getting 20-episode seasons again, just don't be splitting seasons like CN and Netflix.

It's creators were constantly begging people throughout the show's run to watch it on TV and stream it over and over to possibly force Disney to give them a third season. By what the crew said it was never really even possibly. It was just a wild hope that they could force a third season by a massive boost in ratings which of course never happened and the show did worse and worse as it's season went. By the end the show was almost never reran and only popped up to air it's new episodes. Disney clearly realized it wasn't working and left it alone. Kiff not only has a "announced" third season but it's creators are already in talks about a spinoff series. It's got rerun slot after rerun slot and it's getting shorts and the like. Sure, none of that is a guarantee but it's pretty much the closest thing any show over there other than Big City Greens can get to a confirmation it's doing well. In the end, we won't know until it actually happens but things are looking as good for Kiff as any show over at Disney can look.
