Legacy of Kain is back. A graphic novel prequel to Soul Reaver was announced.

>As the first new Legacy of Kain content since 2003's Legacy of Kain: Defiance, The Dead Shall Rise serves as a prequel to the Soul Reaver games. The book flashes back to Raziel's human past as a Sarafan warrior and reveals how he came to be a vampire serving under Kain. The goal is to answer some long-running questions about the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver mythos while also introducing a major new vampire character with close ties to both Raziel and Kain.

>Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Bit Bot Media. The book is written by Joshua Viola (True Believers, It Came From the Multiplex) and Angie Hodapp (Unioverse, Shadow Atlas), with interior art by Juan Samu (Star Wars, Godzilla), letters by Jeremiah Lambert (Masters of the Universe, Transformers), covers by Dave Rapoza (Destiny, Magic: The Gathering) and Aaron Lovett (Monster Train, Inkbound). The book features additional art by Jonny Bush (Rob Zombie, Ghost) and Ninja Jo (Star Wars, Stranger Things), with Brent Friedman (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Call of Duty) providing narrative guidance, and Crystal Dynamics has also provided creative direction based on unreleased elements of Soul Reaver lore.

>The Dead Shall Rise will be crowdfunded on Kickstarter. Fans can sign up on BackerKit to be notified by email when the campaign launches later this year.

Will someone storytime the comic?

Finally, something to look forward to.

Why isn't it a game?

fuuuck, it's hard to believe it's been that long since the last LoK game. Another game would have been preferable of course, but this is better than nothing, and at least it shows the franchise isn't completely dead.

Don't care.

This. Soul Reaver was 100% Amy Henning's writing. Without it it's just another worthless IP

This and actuallly i fear it will be a fuck up with a strong wymn protag, some minority cota character and all that shit. Also LoK doesn't fit the comic genre
>long winded flowery dialogue that is the mark of the series
>in a format that works in speech bubbles and consisened speech
I have serious doubts it will work...

Blood Omen 2 fucked up the series so badly that even Defiance couldn't fix it.

This is why you need Henning. She can actually write like Shakespeare.

When you remove her you get Blood Omen 2 and the dialogue just end up seeming pretentious.

So this is clearly just a cheap cash grab trying to capitalize on a beloved brand. If you're a fan of the series you should not be supporting this book.

Why? Just give us a full on remaster with updated modern combat, better camera control and maybe add little things in the map to discover, that's all we want.

Defiance is fantastic, don't get why some are shy to praise it.
