It would've been funny if Osborn killed Kamala and it was treated like a terrible tragedy and a shocking moment and then she'd just came back again.
>>144447616
What do you mean?
It is a 100% legendary display of how bad Spider-Man comics could be.
>>
>>144447234
Well, I have to say, I was kinda suspecting this.

Now let's see how Peter gets rid of the sins.
>>
>>144447631
>how bad Spider-Man comics could be.
So far
>>
>>144447250
I'd assume there's a payoff next issue and the conclusion to this issue is a fake out to make you think Norman won.
>>
>>144447631
Yeah, twenty years from now people are going to be like "Why was anyone reading this trash? This is fucking awful!"
>>
>>144447234
Considering that next issue is the last one of this arc and then we’re headed towards the final arc of the run, whatever Peter did to the spear has got to kick in next issue
>>
>>144447135
>woefully underqualified
didn't in-universe have Peter running a company at most 2 years ago in Marvel time?
>>
>>144447148
It would be nice if the plan was ever alluded to before this arc.

Or even foreshadowed. It just seems like a hasty retcon to shut down critics complaining of Peter's passivity and lack of competence.
>>
>>144447234
So now Good Norman is back?
>>
>>144447234
>Norman stabs HIMSELF with the spear that absorbs his sins, and that somehow causes Norman Osborn's sins to transfer to Peter.
>Even though Norman no longer has his sins, he's still evil somehow even though it made him and others this happened to good, before
>Even though the LAST time this happened, Peter himself had to be stabbed by the magic spear in order to get the sins transferred to him to turn him evil
>This is also the third time Peter has turned into the Green Goblin IN LESS THAN A YEAR

I'm so confused.
>>
>>144448195
That would make sense given how we'd seen it work before, but... apparently not this time, I guess, for whatever reason.
>>
My friend and I used to have a joke about how much Spider-Man comics were obsessed with the word "sins" and that was before they made the sins of the Green Goblin into a literal thing, absolutely unhinged state these books are in anymore
>>
>>144448487
It just reads as schizo shit.

The fuck are sins, anyways? How do they work? Why do some people turn bad with them, and others turn good without them, but then sometimes some of them stay bad and others stay good regardless of who the sins have gotten inside of for some reason???

I realize that this is a plot point that Spencer introduced, but the concept was much simpler in the previous run. People get their sins taken away, and they turn good. And we never see anything like the sins going into someone else until Beyond.
>>
>>144447196

You shut up peter parker is a toxic-altruistism. He should have passed on the mantle long ago. It's no wonder more and more read X-Men rather then spider-man at least X-Men make sense spider-man NEVER does so fuck it.
>>
>>144447234
Can they all just admit that the Goblin is a Creation of Mephisto?
>>
>>144449415
From a business perspective, one failed to keep his business out of Hydra hands and every stockholder suffered. Peter was also very altruistic at the expense of the business, which Norman isn't. The other is completely insane but he's enough of a threat that other supervillains might pause before fucking with him and he's strong enough to hold on to power. He's the "safer" choice in a world where professional supervillain is basically seen a career choice.
>>
do you think spencer feels like oppenheimer for making that one plotline where sin eater takes people's sins
>>
>>144449515
I don't think that was him, I think that was Lowe. Would explain this stupid shit persisting to this day despite the fact not a single writer understands the mechanics.
>>
>>144449492
>Can they all just admit that the Goblin is a Creation of Mephisto?
I kind of hope they do that. since that would also make spencer's run on ASM canon. Thus the sins Past recton would be canon also and osborn fag would seethe forever over the fact Gwen/Norman were never truly a couple.
>>
>>144447201
it honestly has to be over 8 years now since the last time I read a comic where Spider-Man rescued female characters, instead of always being rescued by then, and where Spider-Man defeated the bad guy, instead of some strong wyman doing it for him.
but it isn't just Peter, You literally never see stong and heroic depictiosn of straight white men or not mary sue, not girlboss depictiosn of female characters anymore.
so this leaves on importatn question, why is peter even still in this comic (aside form the obvious reason that his face and name on the cover is the only thing that leads to sales regardless of quality)

The fact that the sins and the mind helmet are both in play make this story so fucking confusing. I don't believe Wells actually read Spencer's Sin-Eater arc, nor do I think Wells went back to read his own story when he did the sin possessed Peter thing. Shouldn't Norman be reduced to a whimpering shadow of himself like he was before as Gold Goblin?

Nothing about this makes any sense at all, and the art is wasted here.
>>
File: Spider-Man Sin-Eater.jpg (59 KB, 632x640)

I don't know why this is so hard for Wells and Lowe to understand.
>Sin-Eater gets a magical upgrade from a demonic Harry Osborn
>Sin-Eater gains the ability to consume sins of his victims, acquire their powers, leaving the victim a shell of their former selves with only their benevolent traits remaining
>Sin-Eater does this to Norman Osborn, leaving him "good" and remorseful
>Sin-Eater is defeated, all the sins return to their original bodies, except for Norman's which is intercepted by the Beyond Corporation before Norman can return to normal
Why even use the fucking Kafka helmet in the first place other than to give the illusion of tying in Chasm? Why are we using 2 methods to mentally compromise Peter at the same time? How does Kraven even know this ritual to capture them in the first place?

I really miss Spencer

They've been treating The Sins of Norman Osborn as a mystical artefact that can be passed from one person to another for years now, and bearing them turns you into an evil Goblinized version of yourself, sometimes it seems like they're alive in their own right.

>>
>>144459368
>Oh, I still treat the current run as a relatively recent thing. That's why I was confused.
It's being going on for years now. YEARS. Beyond was about another year as well, or at least felt like it.

>Wells and Lowe really took away all the wrong lessons from Spencer's run
That run having such an incoherent finale that either nobody wants or is allowed to unpick and try to make sense of, nor retcon away, really doesn't help.
>>
>>144459407
>basically he forgives Norman for Gwen.
Actually with recent issues they've established Peter never bought the reformed Norman thing. So I don't think he forgives him for anything.
>>144459408
The key word anon is "relative". Grand scope of comics this is all pretty fresh still.
>The finale
Which I blame editorial because clearly Spencer wanted to wrap things up sooner and address OMD in some fashion, and was told no or to stall until 900 in which he just threw his hands up while leaving for Substack.

>>
>>144459498
That’s not from Sins Past, it is a verbatim quote from Death in the Family that aged extremely poorly.
>>
>>144459442
>Actually with recent issues they've established Peter never bought the reformed Norman thing.
Not sure if convinced though. The contingency plan stuff is believable, the "I was just pretending to be your friend" just jibes with everything we've seen before too much and makes Peter look like a dick when Good Norman was actually trying before Kraven and Queen Goblin happened.

>The key word anon is "relative". Grand scope of comics this is all pretty fresh still.
That's a fair point, but this has been going on longer than the Clone Saga did.

>Which I blame editorial because clearly Spencer wanted to wrap things up sooner and address OMD in some fashion, and was told no or to stall until 900 in which he just threw his hands up while leaving for Substack.
Spider-Man editorial always deserve their share of the blame, but this wasn't Spencer's first big Marvel run that ended in a confusing, unsatisfying incomprehensible mess that dropped plots outright and contradicted itself. If it happened once maybe it was all editorial's fault, if it keeps happening maybe he's a writer whose ambition exceeds his ability and editorial not reigning him in until it's too late is the problem.
>>
not gonna lie
I hope mcginness stay in the comics even after the run ends
>>
>>144459498
I'm just more dumbfounded by Spencer's convoluted attempt to retcon it and the can of worms it opened than the original arc proper.
>>
>>144459512
>it is a verbatim quote from Death in the Family that aged extremely poorly.
Extremely hilariously, you mean.
>>
>>144459520
This was totally on editorial though. The last minute switcharoo was clearly a "Fuck it" out the door thing, shifting from Peter to Harry's soul. And I can't exactly blame Spencer from pulling from the material that was there. Legacy of Evil isn't exactly well known, but it's still a viable tool to use. Plus given original JMS context (which even he regrets/admits), there was no good way to undo Sins Past. I'll take what I can get
>>
>>144459560
I really hope Spencer get to write Spidey in some mini-series in the future without having to worry about Spider-Office bullshit. Like Joe Fixit mini that was a Spider-Man comic in disguise.

I liked the run, and read it. I wasn't asking for recommendations, merely expressing concern over enabling Marvel office and giving them the wrong idea
>>
>>144459560
>there was no good way to undo Sins Past.
So....don't do it? Undoing it was a bad idea, badly executed.
>>
>>144459636
the sooner you realize jms is just looking out for #1 the better
>>
>>144459643
>Yeah just leave the shitty story canon and pretend it never happened
No thank you. I dont even like Gwen, and think it had no place in Spidey history. JMS himself regrets it

If you tell me he would be back into the book and Peter would be back at being a teacher...

Hi dan, How ya doing? You lost any weight yet? No? Shocker.
>>
I kinda hate that Rek-Rap is growing on me
>>
>>144459668
>Peter would be back at being a teacher...
he's pulling enough weight as is so doubt he'd make enough of a fuss over his job, so long as they still be 'the one' to undo OMD (which cucked spencer out of his ending)
>>
>>144459763
I'm liking his Cap, but it isn't even close to his Spidey... And frankly, I'm not even dreaming about OMD being undone since we got USM, I just want Peter back to being a teacher and his Spider-Man being badass once in a while.
>>
>>144459657
>JMS himself regrets it
He only says that because he's had to deal with years of salty waifufags reeeeing at him over it, including all the Gwenfags within Marvel.
>>
>>144459787
Your headcanon isn't fact. It was a bad story, it's over with, and we can finally move on
>>
>>144459876
>headcanon
JMS did in fact fight tooth and nail for Sins Past for a couple of years until he realized it was a lost cause though, so years of Gwenfags crying at him did happen.
>>
>>144459735
Good thing Zeb killed him, then!

>enabling Marvel office and giving them the wrong idea
This is why I'm apprehensive of the upcoming Chasm mini. If it sells well, Marvel could interpret that as people finally embracing the direction they've taken Ben in over the last two years. If it doesn't, they could see it as people not caring about him anymore and decide to kill him off again.

This is my exact fear

At this point, I feel Rek-Rap just has to be an antagonistic tulpa that exists in Wells' mind and is able to occasionally take over, because there's no better explanation for how he's able to take the piss out of the rest of this shitty run and actually get a laugh outta me.
>>
>>144459442
>Actually with recent issues they've established Peter never bought the reformed Norman thing. So I don't think he forgives him for anything.
See, they never foreshadowed this, or even alluded to it once, and it just seems like a last second asspull to shut down critics and also justify Kamala getting fridged during Dead Language.
>>
>>144456990
Wells REALLY fucking wants to be the guy who gets credit for creating the definitive Batman Who Laughs version of Spider-Man in the form of Spider-Goblin. Even though Paul Jenkins is the real father, having ghostwritten the story where Peter first Goblins out, back in Amazing #25.

>Used to be a crime boss
>Killed countless as the Green Goblin
>Became a assassin for the government
>Took over the military and committed some heinous shit
>Tried to do it again shortly after being deposed
Honestly Norman should be getting a visit from Frank or whatever the new guys name is
>>
Ben deciding to fuck off between issues is pretty funny. Wells realizing that there are too many characters to deal with so he just drops one without a goodbye.
>>
This is painful.
>>
>>144462973
It's cause he got that scarlet spider mini and he doesn't have to be here anymore.
>>
>>144448240
They should retcon away the existence of a goodifying spear, the idea was really stupid in the first place
>>
>>144462973
Honestly if I were a character in this run I would do the same thing
>>
they should just retcon the last 10-15 years of ASM.
