However, it leaves me even more uninterested and cold, especially now that I've seen this.I don't have the nostalgia boner for this story arc the way so many Superman fans do, but I will say no one has really done in justice. I don't want a comic accurate telling but in two animated movies, including one that finally had a two-part running time, and a theatrical (even if butchered) movie version, they haven't done even a loose adaptation that felt conceptually worthy of the idea of Death of Superman. The DCW Crisis crossover actually, just by touching on multiple dimension death's of AU Supermen, or the Smallville Season Eleven comics, which did a similar multiverse deaths of Supermen/Supermen Expy arc - even though both were brief - had far more heft and feels.

It's a landmark story, but it's an event in the truest sense of the word. Every attempt to build off it, whether in the comics or via adaptations diluted its impact to the point it's become inconsequential yet somehow also mandatory.
