You shouldn't expect hot blooded anime screaming, its the sort of show where if one of the participants shows even a hint of emotion on their face in the middle of a fight to the death you know they're cooked. Are you interested in taking what have become very stock fantasy tropes and turning them on their head with a shift in perspective that takes you beyond where the story would normally end to explore what happens after? Do you want to explore the worldview and psychology of fantasy races that might look like humans but very much do not think like humans? And also, if you stick with it long enough, see lovingly animated wizard battles and even more lovingly animated cloth physics? If so, Frieren is for you.
