Are some art styles inherently unsexy? Recently someone said in a Code Lyoko thread that the art style of that series is unsexy, which got me thinking about art styles in general. In anime, a lot of the time the art is supposed to be attractive or sexy, maybe even cute but in western shows, that's not necessarily the case.I would say that depending on the art style, something can't be very lewd because of how it looks, Ben 10 (the original series), Code Lyoko and Totally Spies certainly work, but even if you show underwear or a character in a swimsuit, how lewd can a screenshot or image of Ni hao Kai Lan or The fairly oddparents be? In my opinion, not much, and that's because of the art style but what do you guys think? And yes, I like the art style of Code Lyoko and Ben 10.
Another example and yes, I'm the OP. A pantyshot in Pop Pixie, but I don't consider it *very* lewd and that should be because of the art style and how the characters are designed, Pop Pixie has a ''chibi-like'' look and the characters look like chibi characters. Great Italian series, I highly recommend it.

Despite the weirdly large amount of fan-service we were shown as kids, I don't really think when coming up with an art-style for their show that designing it around sex appeal was a top priority with most studios.Personality, clothing, voice acting plays a larger part in people obsessing over a character than I think get's credit. Look at how basic Frankie Foster looks in the show and how obsessed people got over time.
