I’m surprised this is still going, he must’ve gotten a twelve issue contract
>>
>>144657233
This looks like agent Venom tho. The spider is the same shape.
>>144657517
I hate that he isn’t a dorky college professor or at least a research scientist in the new UMU. Literally, what reason do Parkers have to be involved with Bugle and journalism in general? Peter was super into science, Ben was a working class man, Peter only got into the whole news thing because he was desperate for money.
>>
>>144658390
>i'll take pay cuts as long as you let me write this on the hopes it'll become a thing eventually daddy Marvel
poor danny boy
>>
>>144657517
It could be the Maker fucked him. Peter's scientific knowledge was nearly on par with guys like Hank Pym and Bruce Banner; he'd be extremely dangerous even without super powers.

Much like giving Hank Pym brain damage, he could've manipulated things so that Peter preferred the arts to STEM. Truly nefarious.
>>
>>144658439
While I agree, I also kinda like that he isn't just another in the sea of superhero super scientists. Plus more Jonah is great.
>>
>>144658439
>I hate that he isn’t a dorky college professor or at least a research scientist in the new UMU. Literally, what reason do Parkers have to be involved with Bugle and journalism in general? Peter was super into science, Ben was a working class man, Peter only got into the whole news thing because he was desperate for money.

In this continuity, Ben is working for the Bugle, and Peter's parents died when he was 15 instead of when he was a toddler. It could have simply been Ben trying to find something part-time to occupy a depressed Peter, pulling strings with Jonah, and given that Jonah is also being weirdly parental to Peter, it probably eventually just became a lifestyle.
>>
>>144658492
>Maker using his clout to make Peter lose his science scholarship and get an art degree instead.

What's funny is he totally would. He's literally IT WAS ME BARRY ala Zoom but for literally every single protagonist in these books.
>>
>>144658511
Bendis initially made Richard Parker an oncology researcher who was assassinated over a patent and then he was retconned to be one of the supersoldier program scientists and assassinated for the 2nd time but we don’t talk about that. That was nice, I liked that.

Depends on how you interpret that "..." it could be a comedic beat before he reveals he doesn't, or it could be his Spider-Sense going off when he's about to say that Sure he understands it.
This is probably giving Hickman more credit than he'd ever deserve. But it'd be cool, right?
>>
>>144658919
I believe it is like >>144658492 said. But just like his Spider-Sense, his intelligence will probably resurface as he is exposed to science as his super-hero life grows. So far I really doubt he is brain damaged as Hank Pym, just probably disinterested.
>>
>>144657233
Why do they keep giving the characters doc ock extensions?
>>
>>144658706

This fucking beard is an insult to all of humanity. Why can they never give Pete a good-looking beard? He’s got a jaw for it despite being a twink.

>I hate that he isn’t a dorky college professor or at least a research scientist in the new UMU. Literally, what reason do Parkers have to be involved with Bugle and journalism in general?
-To make them more relatable?
-Because they felt like Peter's genius is not his main point?
-Because they though that half of the superheroes being scientist was unrealistic?
Pick one.

Kek. Aunt May turning into a demon and beating up Peter here could be inserted into a story right after OMD and it would fit right in.
>>144659167
Titles being broken may be an overdone gimmick but hey it looks cool most of the time. Though homages to that Dark Phoenix cover and homages in general get overdone to death.
>>144659020
If JRJR got to age Peter back up again, he'd draw a pretty cool beard. Considering how he drew his 5 o'clock shadow back in the JMS run.
>>144658321
>fractured
Are we sure Lowe isn't writing this? Seems like his fetish is mindbreak.
>>144658291
If you retconned that Peter was swapped out with Paul for every single issue after OMD except for Spencer's I'd believe you.
>>144658207
Cool cover for an issue that ends this putrid runny shit that could be mistaken for a run.
>>144658228
>Miles doesn't care that he needs to take down Peter to save his existence
Whoa Kaare easy there! Getting a bit too based there! just kidding but do you think he kind of doesn't like Miles either?
>>144658390
I'm sorry Slott you're not even worthy for a solicitation.
>>
>>144658425
12-14 issues, at most. I guess Marvel likes Weisman enough to keep it around that long. I could see a writer switch after that, though.
>>
>>144659418
-working class people and teaching young adults is pretty relatable? What is relatable or respectable about modern journalism?
-it was Peter’s main point before his life got derailed by tragedy which didn’t happen in this continuity?
-teaching college kids or working in a lab is not unrealistic?
Pick another.
>>
Does anyone keep tabs on Nick Lowe's twitter? I'm curious if he's stopped responding to fan criticism and just shills books out each week. I'm wondering if he's acknowledged the inconsistencies fans have pointed out regarding Norman's sins

>>

Thanks Zeb, the Green Goblin is now a disembodied ghost that's entirely separate from Norman Osborn and can just hop from body to body however it pleases.

I'm going to need a fucking theologian to explain to me how Sins are supposed to work in your run.
>>
>>144664673
the face the one thing he focused on from Spencer's run besides making Beetle have an awful new costume was the weird sin stuff really says it all
>>
>>144664704
>Axes Peter and MJ
>Makes the Green Goblin an immortal demon that can basically do whatever the hell it wants and take control of whomever it pleases, with not even the death of its hosts being a problem.

I think Zeb's a fucking Goblinfag.
>>
>>144664704
Even in Spencer's run, the sin stuff boiled down to a simple idea: people get their sins taken away and become good.

Now it's just so damn inconsistent. At least we clearly know that Norman did absolutely nothing wrong, and it was always the Sins, which are external and objective forces that can turn people into their hapless puppets.

I'm pretty sure the whole thing where Norman somehow sold Harry's soul to Mephisto in Spencer's run was also the work of the Green Goblin rather than the good and purehearted Norman Osborn!

like it's such an oddly mystical and supernatural thing for Spider-man, like he's dabbled in more fantasy stuff but it's always a mess to this extent. I gave leeway to Kindred since thought was initially a great villain till they turned out to be a wet sloppy disappointment, genuinely no identity or mystery woulda been better then.
>>
>>144664774
just wait till we get a Shockerfag on Spider-man like how we had an Doc Ock and Boomerang one on past runs, then i'll actually read Spider-man agan
>>
>>144664868
I'm indifferent to Bombshell, but I feel bad for the people who like her and have been waiting for her to make a comeback.
>>
>>144664507
Spiderman died at One More Day but it was the kind of death that certain cancers give you where it takes a long time. The franchise finally keeled over with Superior and everything after is just necromancers making the corpse dance
>>
>>144664891
It should've just been Harry, and that was the intent before the Editors made the whole thing retarded, and then decided to double down on the retardation by hiring Zeb Wells afterwards and saying "We need you to make the most retarded run possible. Make everything feel completely disjointed and bizarre, like David Lynch style surrealism and uncanniness but in a way that's absolutely shit instead of even remotely thematically coherent."
>>
>>144664955
I mean there were still good stories coming from the comics afterwards though the lingering shadow of OMD hung right over it so badly still. I won't downplay the active and massive damage OMD did to the point it caused the readership to sink significantly but I feel this run after the hope Spencer's gave initially of some respect to the mythos and character assasination getting fixed to give the cast of supporting characters and villains finally some decent development got beheaded by issue one of Zeb Well's. it is funny how a lot of joke suggestions before the hints like it being the conciousness of peter that died in Otto's body or the robber who killed uncle ben still woulda been better then punk ass Gob Stacey clone kids reveal. Honestly Harry woulda been fun even if obvious since woulda made for a fun recurring villain that has a natural personal grudge but even then it also comes with the caveat of killing some good development Harry had after he got brought back to life, did give us the immortal image of this

I just like how Ultimate Spider-Man is completely eating the mainline book's launch. All the people bitching that it's safe, or boring, or that people only like it because it brought back the marriage just don't get it.

Even if you accept that argument completely, all it means is that the only thing needed to get Spider-Man selling like Star Wars was doing One Weird Trick by making Peter older and married to MJ, winning back all the lapsed fans sick of the main book instantly.
>>
>>144665108
It's part of what makes people seethe. Quibbling about how 'uh, it's not actually good' doesn't matter when it's selling so well. Isn't that what their full throated defense of just about everything after OMD was? 'It's selling great, and that's all the proof anyone needs that it's actually good!!!' These people can't keep their stories straight.

He backpedaled on Miles? I remember he parroted the Miles having no unique personality argument. Do you mean his ITSV video or something later? I stopped watching his channel after that Spencer takedown/jerking off Slott video. You can tell either Slobb or those boring ass Spider-Talk fucks brainwashed his ass. I mean nobody should obsessively hate Slott or Spencer as editorial sucks which is the only good point he makes. But his opinions on Spencer's arc make sense regarding fucking up the ending but then he goes against his own word and trashes Spencer for some reason. Mendoza was picking the corpo side and probably needed to get angry at something to fill out his viewer retention.
>>144665084
I think you could've written it in a way without losing Harry's development as Peter could be shown as under Mephisto's control this whole time and that Harry is forcing Peter out of his way so he can free his own soul and Peter's from the OMD deal. He could see this Peter as a fake and that all the suffering he's inflicting won't be remembered after it's undone.

Anyway, Kindred was a sick ass design. More stuff with other cool demons and centipede designs would've been awesome. Such a shame that now everybody ignores him because the wounds are so fresh from Editorial's sheer spite. I also would've wanted him to destroy Demogoblin at some point in a fight. Mysterio using an illusion to fool Mephisto into undoing a deal or something like that also would've been so kino.
>>
>>144658822
This is going to end with Peter purged of the Green Goblin and in full control of Oscorp, isn't it?

This whole story is a ripoff of Superior with the Green Goblin instead of Doc Ock, and it's going to culminate in a ripoff of Parker industries.

>>144658706
Meanwhile this seems a hell of a lot more interesting despite it being three dudes just standing around and talking.
>>
>>144665310
yeah a lot of his recent vids have him highlighting Miles stuff in comparison to Peter or having jabs at the whole Miles Morales is Miles Morales thing. Also yeah he is of the opinion Miles is salvaged now which I don't really agree as I'm not big on extra spider characters unless from another setting or in a way that makes sense. Yeah I feel bad for Spencer as he got the brunt of shit from the video when editorial clearly had their mitts their, though GM also says he did't like the Boomerang stuff without elaborating which I personally thought was one of better ideas from run besides Sinister War which is just a really fun set of issues that nicely showcase Spider-man's rogues gallery and some extra's from greater setting he's scuffled with plenty. Also yeah Kindred's design just hit my yes notes, any character covered in bandages like Shishio Makoto or is heavily centipede theme gets an automatic positive from me. I always thought a centipede themed villain would be a great new addition to the rogues gallery aside from more female villains. Yeah that run treated Mysterio great to a big fan of the guy that rivals my Shocker bias, honestly Paul just being Mysterio larping to fuck Peter's live over/trying to woo MJ since he grew to earnestly fall for her is the only Paul retcon I'd enjoy even if it would still be a dumb copout. Honestly I fucking want Mephisto to fuck off forever, he is so shit compared to Dormammu or even his own son Blackheart who has an awesome design and actual character, let him runback Miles Morales

Oh man he really thinks that of Miles? Dude must be coping to coast by without acknowledging any of the complexities of addressing that issue in the face of a bunch of casuals.

>Mephisto
Ah I still kinda like him because of John Buscema's art, his rivalry with Silver Surfer, his basis on the real Mephistopheles giving the eponymous Faustian bargains in Marvel's universe, and the whole part of the 90's where he was Thano's lackey just waiting to betray him. And his shit eating grins and trickery rivals MCU Loki's level of charisma in regards to campy villainy and assholeishness. Plus he's undeniably Marvel's chief devil figure. Though I don't know how he stacks up powerlevel wise to Dormammu, but I assume within their own dimensions they are unstoppable. That doesn't matter but ignoring all the Spider deals and shit, and looking at stuff like Triumph and Torment as well as Ghost Rider make me think that yeah Mephisto should take a break but he should never be permanently retired because of Quesada's retardation. He's too important and could act as a great plot device. Though yeah I don't know too much about Dormammu and Blackheart's actual personalities and unique points about them. I should read more.

Mmm yes. I can see female Kindred being a lot hotter than what they ended up doing. If they gave that design a try with Bagley during the 90's then oh man would that have looked good. One of my few criticisms of that run besides the ending is that there should've been a superior foes reunion in some way and more usage of Randy. Kindred reminded me more of Stain from MHA as both of them I thought were going to truly expose the protagonists as fakes and punish them harder. Would've been kino. Marvel quivers at Harry's fucking sheer level of artistry and magnificence. Finally pic rel is what must keep happening if we're ever to experience more spider-kino.
>>
>>144665533
I was thinking the female villain and Kindred thing separately but did remind me one of them was a lady, would be funny as a joke comic to have her trying to be ambiguous when facing Peter but her obvious lady shape and hair peaking out ruining that. Also yeah what made Kindred work at first was that wasn't just a great threatening design but also a very interesting in universe reflection on the state of Spider-man when factoring in his worse actions that have been swept under the rug, making for a uniquely personal foe that had a solid power level to work as the highest tier big bad to also threaten the other villains into interesting situations but also yeah the Superior Foes reunions is super downplayed, honestly just a funeral for Boomerang mini series alone could make for some interesting character exploration or fleshing out how despite being the worst person alive he died in a selfless act of bravery just cause he had an earnest friend that actually gave him genuine guilt for his usual treachery. Spencer's run also did make me like Randy, one of the most underused supporting characters and genuinely one of the more interesting of them to with his connection to Peter's civilian life but also the Tombstone/Beetle addtion that just works perfectly. Sadly not sure how image rel will work since even Renew your vows didn't change Marvel's mind, I'm not even a big MJ/Peter shipper though that's adaptions faults more for giving him better chemistry with other girls like Insomniac, Marvel is so willing to cling to this on unanimously hated moment more then they love shitting on Hank Pym for the slap he did when he was mentally ill and has since more then made up for it significantly. I've mostly been exposed to Dormammu in games and cartoons which make him such a delightfully smug, arrogant prick but also just insurmountable where beating him is more keeping him out then fighting him, though i'm also biased since was one of my mains in MVC3.

Why do half of new Spider-Man comics involve Peter getting either cucked out of his girl/livelihood or getting his body taken over/stolen now. Is there nothing they won’t take from him?

>Kindred
Yep what you said, I couldn't agree more. Also Madame Web could use a female villain counterpart and I think it would be cool if Shathra played that role. But not make it as retarded as Slott did with that Spider-verse story he did recently that had spider-shota in it.
>Boomerang
Yeah now I'm thinking about a funeral series and all those fuck ups getting together to mourn him could make for a good heartwarming, sad, and funny read. Something right up Spencer's alley.
>Randy
Yeah I was jazzed to see him use him as Peter's roommate again after the Mackie run.
>RYV
Yeah I dunno that wasn't gonna last long as Gerry Conway took over along with the timeskip happening and Conway is kinda weird now. I think it's a little different and Ultimate is much more blatantly fulfilling of a lot of people's desires and Zeb's run has more notoriety for whatever reason. Although I have no idea how much RYV sold in comparison to Ultimate. And Marvel is fickle as hell. So yeah it might not work out but hey Ultimate is the last good thing besides Reign 2 and the last issue of Shadow of the Green Goblin to look forward to.
>Dormammu
Yeah then you'll like the 90's Silver Surfer issues with Thanos and Mephisto as well as the comic version of Infinity Gauntlet if you like smug villains. They both chew the scenery pretty well. I really wanna read Dr. Strange issues but there's a lot so I'm hesitant. I just remembered there was one Ghost Rider issue where I saw Blackheart with Lillith and he was taunting GR. So I think I have an inkling of what Blackheart is like though I only know him as a sudden surprise of a Daredevil villain and ARMAGEDDON in MvC.
>>
>>144665839
>Is there nothing they won’t take from him?
I'm waiting for Mephisto to shave off 13 years off his life and steal any academic information about Peter past Middle School, so Peter's now at his original status quo: 15 year old Peter in highschool.

yeah Shathra finally getting used was a doubled edged sword, though I'm thankful for the most part that Scorpia, character I really like, is treated fairly well or ignored enough to not be killed and discarded at moment. I've read Infinity Gauntlet but that was ages, Mephisto does work really well bouncing off of Thanos as a character especially when Thanos makes the red bastard look like a chump such as when he gyped him with a cosmic cube in some delicious irony for Mephisto the master of ripoff deals. Having other villains show up in a different heroes comic is fun when done well like Spider-man having to fight Ghost the moment Parker gets his shit handled company up or when the Sinister Six picked a fight with the Avengers or Hank's Avengers Academy and managed to win with good strategy both times while showcasing their personalities well like Mysterio being pals with Chameleon and fine with killing kids but Sandman n Rhino being like fuckoff dude I'm not gonna do that or Doc Ock picking the fight mainly cause his ego was bruised by Pym being considered over him for some science thing as much as cause he needed to rob something scientifically important Pym owned
>>
>>144666165
I'm honestly excited to see how both comic and manga with these two interacting playout with the dynamics or having the villains interact. Alien Zarab getting promoted to herald of Galactus especially sounds fun and like a good big break for the guy after his last attempted villain teamup with Ultraman Belial.
>>
>>144666240
>Mysterio
Man I kinda hate Guardian Devil for making Mysterio way more edgy and ruthless than he should be. IMO, Mysterio being willing to kill kids doesn't fit with me. I skimmed that issue and the ad of review sites praising Slott gave me psychic damage. Yuck. Maybe Chameleon would kill kids cause he's a spy and they may be more ethically dubious but even then I think his connection to Kraven would make him more honorable. I haven't read that BND issue or whatever where Mysterio and Chameleon work together. It makes sense but them being so ruthless is too edgy and lame. Also at that time I could see Doc Ock not caring because of Ends of the Earth but I hate that story too cause Ock isn't that dumb. Felt like Slott flanderizing him and desperately trying to one up GG and Venom because he was butthurt his favorite wasn't seen as cool as them.
>Scorpia
Hell yeah dude. I like her too. Her and Shocker were cute.
>>144666126
Yo I'm waiting for comics to implode and for these companies to just give this stuff a rest for a couple of years or hire new people.
>>
>>144666316
ayo a fellow Shocker x Scorpia appreciator, even commissioned some art of them. Honestly comic villains morality and characterization fluctuate so much, I could reconcile the different Mysterio characterization being the result of him going to hell/coming back from it and just not giving a single fuck anymore but then Kindred knocking on his doorstep plus the events of the Old Man Logan roping in he had where he worked with Hawkeye perhaps causing him to reflect and realise how he used to be as a villain, especially with how Spencer's run opens with Mysterio pulling off a big name scheme cause he was reflecting on the cycle he felt he was in. I quite like Doc Ock but Slott somehow has given him some great and equally awful moments, honestly was more interesting seeing how other writers were handling Doc Ock's dying period and Superior period after and during. Also it is funny the evil men do is why I utterly adore Scorpia but also is such an awful story after it's initial solid issues

>Old Man Logan
Wait what are you referring to when you say he was working with Hawkeye? Are you saying Mysterio worked with Old Man Hawkeye in the Old Man Logan universe or with 616 Hawkeye?
Also I wonder if Mysterio could benefit with more themed henchmen like Riddler's Query and Echo. Something like some stunt men, mike and camera operators, and people who use pyrotechnics and robotics. Except maybe two of the henchmen could be henchwomen that play damsels to lure Spider-Man in. Either way Mysterio needs more movie theming and people like Spencer writing him.
>Doc Ock
Yeah I like him too. I just don't like OOC writing and forcing characters to become stuff they are not. Superior could have worked without sacrificing everyone else's credibility and intelligence, sacrificing months of Peter's life, and fetishism that Slott engaged in. It was always going to be a poor man's KLH but it didn't need to be that insulting to anyone who likes comics.
>Scorpia, Shocker
Would not mind if you wanted to post those pieces. Also yeah man Evil that Men Do. What a let down.
>>144666454
Can anybody give me a qrd of Ewing's Venom so far? I have no clue who Merridus and all his OC's are. They all seem to have awful designs. Yeah Knull kind of took away the unknownness of symbiotes but at least he looked cool. Some of Cate's mid-life crisis metal sensibilities crept their way in but they aren't too bad.
>>
>>144657556
PETER YOU DUMBASS SHIT LIKE THIS IS HOW YOU GET CLONED
>>
>>144666454
>Condemned into an existential hell where you're basically Dr. Manhattan, a burden which Knull was willing to destroy the universe in order to reject and which Eddie Brock only bitterly accepted.

Venom took a bullet for a friend with that one.
>>
>>144666558
616, there was a story where Old Man Logan was in the main timeline and Mysterio was abducted by Mrs Sinister, Crossbones and Sin for his role in killing the X-men in that timeline to speed it up while he just wanted to retire but also used his illusions to get Crossbones shot badly while dealing with that. Worked with Hawkeye, roasted him to while fuddling with his illusion disguise and that's most I know bout that storyline. Also that idea of Mysterio having themed henchman/woman does sound quite good, sort of like what he had in No Way Home but in clothing more themed around his style does sound cool, would look nice on some shapely babes.
Yeah the weirdass moments in Superior really standout and overshadow the cool stuff like Ock vs Alistair Smythe or him working with Cardiac which even then leads to some character assassination.

>>
>>144666558
>I have no clue who Merridus and all his OC's are.
They're all future versions of Eddie Brock from different points in his personal timeline, who all seem to be in various stages of denial/grief/acceptance.

Peter Parker was supposed to be Knull's replacement as King in Black, basically a cosmological Yin and a sort of manager of entropy put in place by the Celestials. Kind of the antithesis of the Yang that is the Enigma Force, which is involved with Captain Universe. Except his ticket to that was muddied by Peter rejecting the Symbiote, and it ended up with Eddie Brock instead.

It's hard to say that Eddie got the better end of the deal. One of his things is that functionally acausal and atemporal now, experiencing every point in time as a single moment. So he can do things like casually travel back in time to chat with Peter Parker, but Eddie's life is kind of a mess now, Dylan's life is kind of a mess now, and there's the whole question of whether free will even exists gnawing at him.

But his books have definitely been a hell of a lot better than Spider-Man's.

This August, Japan’s greatest superhero, Ultraman, and iconic Marvel Super Hero Spider-Man unite for the first time in ULTRAMAN: ALONG CAME A SPIDER-MAN, an epic serialized Japanese manga from Shogakukan. Part of a major cross-cultural event set to take the global comics scene by storm, this news follows the recent announcement of Marvel Comics’ ULTRAMAN x AVENGERS series, debuting on the same day this August 14.

Announced today at San Diego Comic-Con during the “What’s New at VIZ” panel, ULTRAMAN: ALONG CAME A SPIDER-MAN marks the first time that Ultraman and Marvel’s most renowned character Spider-Man team up in a Japanese manga. Written by Shigenobu Matsumoto and drawn by Tomo Hirokawa, the manga features one of Marvel’s greatest supervillains of all time, Doctor Doom, who joins forces with Ultraman arch-nemesis Alien Mefilas and his cadre of destructive Kaiju, with cameo appearances by The Avengers.

ULTRAMAN: ALONG CAME A SPIDER-MAN will be distributed in the US by VIZ Media, kicking off with chapters 1 and 2 on August 13 in the US (August 14 Japan time), making for a truly global event. VIZ will also publish a print edition of the complete manga in the United States, set to hit retail in Summer 2025.

More information can be found in the press release below and cover art for ULTRAMAN: ALONG CAME A SPIDER-MAN is attached here (Credit: Courtesy of Shogakukan). Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hmm. To add on top of the totem stuff now they say Peter was also destined to be the King in Black. Going off concept and vague impressions alone I think the totem stuff was more justified because of how JMS wrote it. I'll read it but yeah I think that's dumb. Leave that stuff to Eddie. I like Captain Universe being the antithesis and it does help their argument of Peter now not being destined to be the King in Black since he bonded with it once before Eddie did so there's that at least. Also man Stegman and Cates really fucking messed up with their designs/ideas of Captain Universe Venom and the Absolute Carnage design with the black armor. Man did those look awful.

Paul is the best antagonist in years. A guy who makes Peter's life worst who he can't punch is exactly what Spider-Man needed. Paul is the modern Flash but instead of a bully Paul us just a nice guy.
But Marvel already ruined Paul with his crazy ass origin and inventor powers. He'll end up another one note Spider-villain once Sony greenlights a Jackpot movie or her books stop driving variant cover sales.
