What are some of the most drastically different adaptations of /co/ characters?Deathstroke in Lois & Clark is just some assassin that kills people by giving them heart attacks with his magnetism powers, and he looks like this.
>>144664377baymax
>Donald Blake summons Thor instead of being an alter ego
Dr. Magneto from 60s Spider-Man.
>>144664377>Deathstroke>Literally gives people deathly strokesDid the only thing the writers had for reference was the name alone or what?

>>144664377>Deathstroke in Lois & Clark is just some assassin that kills people by giving them heart attacks with his magnetism powerswut
>>144664516this is better and makes more sense than the original comic.
>>144664377How the fuck do you get that from Deathstroke
>>144664621He gives them a deathly stroke anon it's not hard.
>>144664377top fucking kek what
The MAWS version of Brainiac is like some fucked up robot Zod instead of the real Brainiac.>No skull ship>Kandor instead of being a Kryptonian city is some kill sat spaceship he sits around in>Doesn't bottle cities at all>Zero connection to Colu, he's a Kryptonian AI instead>Doesn't really give a shit about knowledge, is more one of those might is right villains>Basically the embodiment of Kryptonian imperialism, wants to rebuild the Kryptonian Empire with ClarkAnd somehow that makes him one of the best adaptations of Zod because Zod is fucking lame and Michael Emerson is 10/10 as him.
>>144664646corruption kino
>>144664646>Zero connection to Colu, he's a Kryptonian AI insteadI don't watch this series, but it seems like they are inspired by the old Superman series.
>>144664695It's bizarre how they copied number 18 of Dragon Ball for this character instead of being faithful to how it was in the comic.
>>144664646was gonna say that this is actually a pretty cool version of Braniac despite the changes, I wish the kept the colour scheme since I like they made him more inhuman since like alien/robot characters to lean further from looking human but aside from the logo the colours make it harder to see his design as Braniac
>>144664646Why not just make him Zod? I don't get it. It's like you're ruining two awesome villains at once with this crap
>>144664377He gives them DEATH by STROKE, get it?
>>144664377For me, it's the John McCain Deathstroke from Smallville.
>>144664802Laziness and can't have TWO masculine men in the cast. That would be scary to the afeared females and homosexuals. When in reality women and queers, yes this includes lesbians, shlick themselves raw too men fighting. Espescially over women.
remember when USM brought in scorpion and literally just made him a reference to scorpion from mortal kombat?
>>144664722Supergirl's never really had a consistent character. For 15 years she wasn't even a Kryptonian, then when she came back she was a slutty alien until blowback to it made her more wholesome and sweet, then rebooted in New 52 to being more alien again, to a girlboss in rebirth to lineup with the live action show.In the silver/bronze age she went from a teen girl Superman stuck in an orphanage to a girl with adopted parents to a college aged woman.
>>144664377Cassandra Cain in the Birds of Prey movie, who's just a pickpocket street urchin with no martial arts skills who becomes Harley Quinn's sidekick at the end (also she's fat)
>>144664557>>144664627>>144664876A stroke and a heart attack aren't the same fucking thing!
>>144665021That shit is still so bizarre.
>>144664646This is just a lamer version of DCAU Brainiac. He was drastically different and an AI, yes, but still retained the motivations of hoarding knowledge
This is such a drastic shift from comic Polka-Dot Man, but thematically appropriate and great. In fact I'd go so far as to say this should be comic canon now
>>144665038I guarantee that they were going to have him give people strokes and then they thought "no wait, that's too on the nose, make it heart attacks instead"
>>144664646>spoilerThem's fightin words.
>ok now what if he was a mad scientist obsessed with making moth monsters and making himself half moth that had a spoiled rich daughter that he loves a lot
Remember when they made Black Spider literally assassin Spider-Man?
>>144665142To be fair he was a moth monster at the time in the comics at least.
>>144664377A character named Kraglin appeared in one Silver Age Ant-Man story and shares his name with Kraglin from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I'm not sure if they got the name from the comic or it's just a coincidence but Marvel apparently considers him the comic version.
>>144665038they're both ischemic events, be nice
There was David Cross becoming a villainous version inspired by one of Hank Pym's more unstable identities, Yellowjacket. Actually became comic canon now after David Cross found one of Hank's stashes and stole a prototype suit (the new Crossfire is his brother).I think it works
>>144664377>>144664893I think it's just kind of a problem with Slade in adaptations. In the 2003 cartoon he's basically nothing like the comic version barring appearance and name, and in My Adventures with Superman he's in Warframe armor as a twink fighting fucking Superman.
>>144665142Although you have to admit, he's a way more threatening villian AND more interesting character than the comic version ever was
>>144665285Darren CrossDavid Cross is the other guy

>>144665186is it weird to say that usm had the best looks out of any spidey cartoon?
>>144664893
>>144665142DC Super Hero Girls went even further and had a version of Killer Moth that was just an actual giant moth. Which, like >>144665216 points out isn't that distant from actual canon. But HERE'S the kicker...they refer to it as "she"
>>144664722Outside of having one of her outfits she really doesn't act like 18.
>>144664646It was a wild ride though. They kept showing him and having him say shit like "He shall kneel." I was convinced that it was Zod in battle armor until they call him Brainiac.
>>144664802Probably a case of them only wanting one Kryptonian villain for their story. And since Eradicator's a mostly unknown villain they just used Brainiac due to STAS showing that most won't mind getting rid of Colu.Zod not being used is probably down to them thinking he's overused.
>>144665285>David Cross>YellowjacketIt's like you haven't even seen the live action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. For shame!
>>144665548You know what? I'll not only own up to my fuckup, but hilariously I want to imagine a cut of Ant-Man with David playing Darren
>>144665516Yes, but she has practically the same Background and the same arc.
>>144665087true
>>144664377This is what the Brood look like in the 90's X-men cartoon.

>>144664516>>144664613In original comics "Thor" was a Shazamite version of Don Blake, that's why his hair is blond and he is beardless
>>144665314Which is weird considering how popular he was in the comics.
>>144665826Huh, fascinating. I always thought his design was just based on the 1872 painting, Thor's Fight with the Giants by Mårten Eskil Winge.
>>144665556>>144665548If David cross was Darren Cross well he'd never lose for one and he'd be shitting on Hank Pym's particles that absolutely no one would want to use and him trying to bring him singing ants to nervous to sing. >>144665740>Changed the name and appearance>Still use the acanti as ships>reproduce exactly like the brood>multiple sources reference them as as intended to be the BroodThe only reason they weren't called the Brood or looked like them apparently is because they already briefly used the actual brood in another episode. http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix9/colony92131.htm

>>144666200Never mind that costume and she's blond now.>>144666447I can see the comparison although the dot triangle has been emblematic of brainiac since they added the hairnet thingy to the original. >>144669463>dot triangle has been emblematic of brainiac sinceDCAU.... and until DCAU.I know ,sweetie, sometimes I get shell-shocked as well from the objective facts , but it is true that "iconic" 3 dots were only ever used in KRYPTONIAN Brainiac which debuted at STAS Episode #1 Which is why in Man of Steel black zero ship has those dots since it is "kryptonian" too, which is why in new52 Morrison Superman there is Brainiac back on Krypton, which also sets ups looney trooney moment of WHO came up with then NAME "Brainiac" first. But then Morrison's new52 most probably ended earlier than expected, there was definitely another question WHERE "S" reall came from, becase unlike all past Birthright origins Jor-El nor entire fucking Krypton (Birthright) doesn't wear it, it is "my father's cape", but then Who was his father? Was it original Kal-El or Kal-L? Was it Jonathan Kent (in context of comics That style of Diamond shaped S with straight lines was retconed in 60s and remained DEFINITIVE version even for 1986 reboot that it was logo designed by Jonathan Kent, Morrison with his/him (at that time) brain of researcher and mix-masher definitely knew that and per him/his (at that time) canon Jor-El's symbol is "planet" on his chest ie "science guild symbol". But anyways.Tri dot design Is DCAU and ONLY DCAU (except when it is particular Morrison's new52 run or Convergence ofc)

>>144665285The thing about the film Darren is that he wasnt orginally Darren but a character created for the film In Edgar Wright's drafts, Darren Cross' (who back then was called Greydon Clark) alter ego would have been Nano Warrior, instead of Yellowjacket. Because Professor Pyg is so obscenely morbid within the comics (namely the part where he mutilates and breaks the minds of his victims into being mindless doll henchmen), Beware the Batman altered him completely so instead he's a hypocritical ecoterrorist that turns people into half-human half-animal monstrosities and has a toad man for a second in command.

>>144671296Alright, maybe I was a bit too harsh. So here's the thing, for some reason 90s capeshit shows were not very eager on adapting comic book villains and at times took some ridiculous liberties. Maybe it was budget, maybe it was something else. There was a show based on Marvel's Malibu imprint called Nightman and it barely had anything to do with the comics aside from the main character's origin and costume.I know nowadays with all the capeshit oversaturation this doesn't seem like a big deal but when the series in the OP used Metallo for one episode it blew my mind because it was refreshing compared to human villains like Lex Luthor, Intergang (who are pretty much generic gangsters in the series, really) or Prankster. My best guess is that nobody among the writers even knew who Deathstroke was and just coincidentally happened to create a villain with the same name. More likely than you think considering CW used a famous DC villain Scimitar. There's no villain called Scimitar in DC comics despite the writer's insistence.
>>144664377>Deathstroke in Lois & Clark is just some assassin that kills people by giving them heart attacks with his magnetism powers, and he looks like this.Antonio looks good in that, the material is actually a bit more forgiving (and he had a better body) than just spandex, especially without the sheen. Beyond that, for a 'magnetism' villain, the gray and black are a better look than say Mags (who looks awful in animation BECAUSE it's comic accurate) and only looks good in the white outfit in X-Men II but that was intended to be a play on a straitjacket and mental institution patient outfit. Also, deathstroke just otherwise is an enhanced mercenary assassin. "Death" and "Stroke" tied to killing with a heart attack actually, frankly, makes more sense. In the days of Universal Soldier and the like, why would ABC or WB TV studios want to adapt an enhanced former military into something OTHER that Not That.

>>144672524>all the details you omit, for example:>context you fail to provide,I provide as much as 4chan allows me to>but simply for easily disproven facts you allege.like what? tv show produced by Man of Steel writer that already referenced STAS Brainiac, which again, isn't comics Brainiac, never was (aside tie-ins ofc) and his 3 dots aren't "emblematic" at all And this is non-comics example ie >>144664377>What are some of the most drastically different adaptations of /co/ char
>>144673000Not him, but even if you're right, DCAU was allowed to be "emblematic" because they had the ability to take the entirety of comics history and pick out what they wanted to keep, what they wanted to retool, and what they wanted to create from scratch, in order to achieve the setting they wanted. Other adaptions simply aping off DCAU prevents them from being the next emblematic adaption to the current generation.
>>144673048Yes, but that's because the new creators are less talented than the ones in this series.
>>144673013>his 3 dots aren't "emblematic" at allFalse
>>144670785Unless there is some book Superman or unexpected pre-Brainiac Brainiac in a way there was ,in 1940, K-metal (that just made Superman powerless and a man... Super, instead of also slowly killing Clark) before there was Kryptonite Maybe 3 dots also were from somewhere before, same how Black Zero got reinterpretation from criminal that blew up Krypton in Earth-1 continuity to a cult in Byrne era to terraforming thingy (with 3 dots on it) in Man of Steel film that was about to blow up Earth
>>144672529>Just goes to show that execs have no clue and that women and their stories make them uncomfortableNo one cares, freak. Wonder Woman just sucks.
>>144673120you have nothing other than lack of knowledge and love for non-comics version of Brainiac
>>144664377That would be a great Cosmic Boy costume.
>>144670226>Only 3 depicted versions don't have some variation of the dot pattern not counting the afformentioned first appearance and 3 name-onlysI stand corrected. Wow, you sure proved me wrong.Where do you think DCAU latched onto it from in the first place?
>>144664377>In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, an elderly couple find Wolverine after escaping the Weapon X facility. In Marvel Comics, the couple plays a similar role in discovering Logan but are substantially younger and core members of the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight.

>>144665402Dick was a cop a while back so it tracks.
>>144673714>I stand corrected. Wow, you sure proved me wrong.>Where do you think DCAU latched onto it from in the first place?Latched on what? Brainiac not being from Colu who doesn't shrink cities or doesn't shrink anything else for that matter? Weird Curt Swan thingy that isn't DCAU 3 dots? You can't count? Oh sweetie!
>>144674023FoX-Men Kents because these movies were produced by Donner's jewifu.
>>144675141>3 big dots in a v pattern>2 smaller dotsSome of the others may have them different relative sizes and arrangements or sub plug jacks but they're still there. It takes a special kind of disingenuous to pretend they're not an integral part of his design since "classic" Brainiac was establishedAnd make that 2 depicted examples, not 3. I didn't take a good look at golden boy's head.
>>144665511You're telling me the fags in those DCSHG threads got moth pussy and never did anything with it?
