I’ve heard it described as a ‘really entertaining second draft of a script’ and that it feels like a mix between the aesthetic of the Nelvana cartoon and the continuity of the musical. Hoping it turns out to be good, gonna see it in a week or so with a friend for his birthday.

This Monday (or Sunday if you’re a Yank). The movie was on the WB Germany homepage for the last month but now it’s gone, and I’ve been scanning the site daily to see if it updates with links to Amazon or whatever service it ends up on like the other movies there.

People are saying Farmer Jim is the highlight of the movie. From what we’ve seen of him that’s a high bar, but the idea of a completely painted character in an otherwise normal animated world is really funny so I’m hoping they can thread that proverbial needle.

Ketchup Entertainment. They’re handling the new Hellboy movie, that plus this are their only real high-profile releases. Everything else they’ve lent a hand to is just either random foreign movies or bargain bin style streaming crap.

Most modern Looney Tunes stuff mixes both elements. Even the Looney Tunes Show had elements of both even though it leaned towards the Chuck Jones portrayal.
Back in Action hit a really good balance.
>>

Has the cover of The Looney Tunes, winks to a theatrical release.
>>
>>145433878
I think the question on most people's mind in regards to this "theatrical release" is going to be "when?"

I'm betting on a 2025 release, there is no way in hell it's coming out this year
>>
>>145434009
Wikipedia says this year but alas no proof.
>>
>>145426361
I believe their last wide release was Ben Affleck's Hypnotic which flopped horribly
>>
>>145433829
Space Jam had an okayish mix of both kinds of Daffy but it felt misguided and unintentional. I’d owe that to the absurd amount of studios contracted to work on the animation for the movie & get it in the can by 1995.
>>
>>145434009
Robert Griggs, a layout artist on the movie, theorised a November release a while ago. Some countries are close to releasing within that window, around Halloween and early November. I’m theorising they’ll somehow fuck it up by releasing in December where it’ll be completely drowned out by Sonic 3 and Mufasa.

When producing the new Looney Tunes shorts, there was discussion on having a "crossover" short between Bugs and Daffy but they never got to it.

https://youtu.be/ei7gedkTNN0?si=NbDFKMri3l2yMZXb&t=1952
>>
>>145441359
Reminds me of a print-on-demand shirt service website that had a bunch of LTC-themed designs. They were mainly just stock art of their Soper designs with a few occasional painted ones (there was specifically one for the Case of Porky’s Pants short) but there was one with Bugs and Daffy together in a basic title card looking thing that said ‘Best Frenemies’. From that alone I thought they were actually going to do a screwy Daffy vs more chaotic Bugs short, very much a missed opportunity. They even started leaning into Jones influence later down the production line with stuff like the Ralph Philips short and the Halloween short with Porky and Sylvester in the creepy motel so they could have pulled it off.
>>
>>145441590

In other news, the director for the currently-in-limbo Coyote vs Acme posted this drawing

Now I'm kinda pissed because the guy behind Sexxi Batman was involved on this thing, so YOU KNOW it was gonna be based

I will leak the movie on wednesday

The Day the Earth Blew Up or Coyote vs Acme??

It was such a strange turn form making Daffy the logo, marketing the 1,000 minutes of shorts, and then doing all that crap Zaslav is doing.

>>
>>145491245
It’s mainly just the Discovery merger. Executives from a new regime often clear out everything the old regime may have been working on or planning during their takeover. TDTEBU surviving is a miraculous outlier, the one that just barely managed to escape the oblivion of cancellation.
>>
>>145481050
I feel like the crew felt it would have been too obvious/easy to use and write him in a scenario like this & wanted to challenge themselves with a character who seems to be altogether much more competent as a villain. It’d be neat to see him cameo somewhere at least in the Invader’s ship or something.

I feel like he's gonna be the post-credits scene where he's planning his own plot to destroy the Earth

That's generous. Still no word of a U.S. release date despite it being a U.S. film.

It's kinda odd how some movies can be made, or mostly made, and then kept hidden in like storage forever.

It's kinda odd that news doesn't even seem to say
IF there is a release date, or if canceled.

It's sorta like on hold, "forever".
It's almost like movies like beetle juice, that didn't have a sequel for like 20 years.

But yeah seems like production companies can't even release mostly finished stuff anymore cause of "release costs".
These companies are seriously going bankrupt. The state of movie industry is really pretty bad.

SWITZERLAND bros?

How do people fail to do "secret" recordings, and uploads?
SOME people have seen it, and someone Might of recorded.
We need to HUNT these people down?
This is like a damn treasure hunt.

Here's a question, anyone rich enough to take plane go to Germany/Switzerland , record it, and upload?

What co media would you do that for?
>>
>>145498012
It literally has a confirmed distributor for America, they're just being hush-hush about the release date for some reason while every other goddamn country is receiving a date of release & dub for their respective language. The French have to wait until April next year to see this movie, and I'm PRAYING we get to see it sooner than that in English.

It’s better than what they changed the name to for a few months in 2023, ‘Bubble Brains’. A few of the dub titles are literally just some variation of ‘Porky and Daffy Save the World’ so it could always be worse.

It was never on the chopping block, before GFM offered to give it a theatrical release they were just gonna make it a direct-to-DVD release. That's why it was briefly renamed "Bubble Brains" for a few months, that was the "marketable title" WB's home entertainment division wanted

I thought it was always intended just for HBO Max over DTV before they pawned off all those projects (while still allowing them to be made just in case a buyer was found).

what the fuck
>>
>>145428893
The earliest shorts in production order (eg this one) & the later/near final ones are the best in the whole series. Former for how much they seemed to be allowed to push the envelope in terms of violent content & having a direction that feels like a happy medium between Wabbit's experimentalism & the much tighter comedy/art direction of this series, the latter for the crew really finding their groove, having more formula breaking shorts like the Ralph Phillips short or the P&D short by Aaron Springer & getting to play with much more of the wider cast & library of characters across the franchise.

Better animated & more consistent than Space Jam, but Back in Action has stronger animation even though I'm not a fan of the Jones aesthetic there. I prefer the Clampett/Soper style here and am glad we're finally getting something long and substantial made with it.
