I might have someone based off a Disney's interpretation of John Smith but without the historical name and make him a young teenager with Pocahontas will also be at the beginning of the film. Also because of how butt hurts people are about a questionable historical account by just two people( who would have had every reason to lie it they were at fault and never would have been scrutinize because of it fit in people's agendas ) I would not use any historical governors who had relations with Native Americans as being in charge.
If it's called New World it's not /co/ and it's not historically accurate. But it's Terrence Malick
>>146120730I would definitively cast a hot ass filipina to play Pocahontas
>>146120730>Pocahontas aged as in OP pic>Captain Chad Smith aged as in my pic.
>>146120730Come to think of it, when was the last time we had light hearted native american media? Everything I can think of is gritty(Prey) or down to earth (Reservation Dogs)
>>146120838 Please tell me you aren't going to ship the romantically but instead have him be a cool adult she makes friends with? And he might do stuff like compare her to the young children back home?
>>146120995What is Prey or Reservation Dogs?
>>146121280Google it you stooge.
>>146121280A movie and a TV Show about native americans doing things, both are on Disney+. Just google them.
>>146120730I wouldn't. Or do something with less of a historical record. Do a movie about Virginia Dare and the Roanoke Colony.
>>146121368>Roanoke Colony. The funny thing is for all the mystery so surrounding it t the person who found the missing probably figured out the correct answer to what happened to them almost immediately before he got back to the old world they actually abandoned the settlement and join a local Native American tribe, Would be interesting to see someone do an animated movie of people coming in trying to figure out what happened and they bring a kid with them and one of them finds a half native boy who seems to know a lot about white culture but it's outdated by a few Generations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0L3RkyfEjQ
>>146120995Native Americans are too depressed and drunk to make anything cute or funny about them even somewhat believable.
>>146120995>>146121433Wrong. These parasites are as bad as nogs with their "Gimmedats!" entitlement and complaining when you use their cultural aesthetics or lore.
>>146121563Can you turn down the slang or offensiveness also they don't get upset when you use the cultural War they get upset when you They get upset with a constantly using the skin face stereotypes of it on a regular basis with people using the visible stereotypes and not having any understanding for anything real about it.it's like Vikings would be complaining about Viking horn helmets if they constantly on practically every betrayal of a Viking in fection.
>>146121563True, Native Americans used to be in everything during the 90s but after they complained so much about it because the representations weren't perfect, no one even tries anymore.>>146121623>Meanwhile this is the type of character the mexicans love and demand more of
>>146121850 Funny thing about Speedy Gonzales that you can compare to the Native Americans they had a bunch of other Mexican mice but the thing is Speedy was the only one they Mexicans like because he wasn't a Walking negatives offensive stereotype about Mexicans. You don't seem to understand there's a difference between not being perfect and being based on stereotypes more than anything to the point people see stereotypes as more accurate than actual depictions. Case in point that humongous headless thing with a bunch o featherswasn't a real thing among Native Americans.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbuBK6-PQQchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ0JUVd-iQUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T52UjRCCrDw

IIRC, John Smith had a young friend about the same age as Pocahontas. So you could have the romance plot be between those two while Smith plays a mentor/supporting role. You could even have it start as puppy love before progressing into something more serious as they get older.
Sweet wampum
>>146120730Use pocahontas as an excuse to show off what that era was really like. With competent and capable natives who were devastated by disease. Forced to allow whites to come settle by their few numbers and intertribal conflicts.I have no idea how the pocahontas-john smith relationship should be handled maybe just make it like real life idk
>>146120730Have it based on the original story, no bullshit, no pandering, just adapt the story.
>>146124622Why?
>>146124857I like this. Someone use this and go on with it.
the real Pocahontas was 10 and she was just like, naked, when the English encountered her so i don't think you can show that in a movie
>>146121850Someone should bring back Go Go Gophers
>>146128307Honestly I doubt she was going through the woods naked but she might have been comparatively nude by the Europeans cultural sense of the time. And I know she wasn't that old when the settlers first came. That's why in the OP I mentioning making her younger along with her potential love interest The blonde guy from Disney without the historical name with the baggage.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EPY1CKFecs&t=204s
Would you really wanna remake Pocahontas?Of the disney renessaince era it is the least popular.

>>146131298An ancient instructive wood carving on how to talk to people of diminutive stature.
>>146125692>Forced to allow whitesNo, they actively chose to allow whites to settle so they could exploit them through trade.
>>146131431 You say that like they were incapable of trading with people without exploiting them. The intentions of the European set was was to take over that land from them basically from the start so that's way more exploitative than the surface level trades the natives were doing for materials they couldn't get in the Americas by themselves.
>>146131546>You say that like they were incapable of trading with people without exploiting them.Of course they were capable, they chose not to. Pay attention to the borders of every european settlement and trading post. Once europeans arrived Indian tribes would constantly seek to monopolize trade with them to have dominance over other tribes.>The intentions of the European set was was to take over that land from them basically from the startMaybe it became that, but that's incredibly long term, the logistics of this is incredibly prohibitive, it certainly did not look like that at the start, had any of the mainland tribes unified no european nation would have committed to war.

>>146133380A native husband doesn't seem likely based on the timeline. She has captured in hostilities with the English and spent some time as a negotiating chip until eventually she got married at 18. That means she would have had to have gotten married some time from the age of 13 when she stopped visiting Jamestown and 16 when she got captured. For all the complaints people have for her age in the events of the movie nobody ever points out that she would have been even younger if she married a native. At least John Smith is a known bullshiter and so he deliberately made it all up, his time with Pocahontas is actually the least interesting stuff he made up about himself if you know the rest of the stories about him. He was always making up stories about him saving Romanians from the Turks and then marrying a local princess for instance. That is also probably fake but seem like s much better thing to make up about yourself instead of you having to be saved by the princess, but I guess he might have wanted to changes things up.

>>146121623>>146121997That other Anon is right, for the record. Though really, who cares about all of this inclusiveness and butthurt feelings crap? If you make yourself beholden to the feelings of random strangers you'll never share any information of value or worth. For example, those other mice in the Speedy Gonzales cartoons are realistic representations of quite a few Mexicans I've met in my life. Drunk, slow, not too bright and wholly unmotivated. Most stereotypes come from the real world. Thus it benefits us to have them, because they let people know that there are plenty of Mexicans who aren't like Speedy Gonzales. Is it an unflattering stereotype? Yeah. But its also realistic.
>>146142450 Often stereotypes come from one guy's delivered miscipitation or people wanted things delivered we misinterpreted there are numerous accounts of these being hurtful and harmful and realize deliberately for the advantages of certain groups of people wanting other groups and people to be seen as bad.Especially among the elites of certain societies who wanted more power and influence over others.Just look at the blood reliable against Jews despite Jews are not even allowed to drink any kind of blood being perpetuated among Christianity when that stereotype was originally about them and had nothing to do with you for drinking the blood of Christ.
