I'm glad Wells' run is over and I'm looking forward to "8 Deaths" because, judging from the premise and everything else we know so far, this story has the potential to become as iconic and defining as Hush is to Batman, as well as serving as a good refresh and entry point for the entire franchise. For example, it could feature Spidey getting cool powers and suits that stick with him after all this. Maybe we'll see a new character/villain in this story that will be well-received by the fans (again, like Hush), and maybe some existing characters will get the proper treatment they fully deserve. Yes, I know Lowe is still the editor, so things may not go the way the fans want, but I still have a feeling that Kelly and Ireland will make a decent comic.And yes, as you may have guessed, Hush is my favorite Batman story, and I think Spider-Man has needed something like this for a looooooooong time. Basically, an episodic, somewhat standalone story of ~10 issues that covers the entirety of Spidey's lore and builds on it while answering some questions from the past. Yeah, Hush is a little different in that it had one already established star writer, Loeb, and one already established star artist, Lee, whereas here we have 2 writers, one of whom is great but not too much of a star, the other of whom is still up-and-coming, and a whole ensemble of artists, but I really hope it will be cool. I also wish that, thanks to this story, Justina Ireland and Gleb Melnikov would finally be appreciated by the fans for what they deserve, because their work is awesome.

Not even close, both of these were already retconned or adapted to fit the canon in a way that today writers can work around OR with it.Marvel should just take the L on this and write a big saga with Peter, MJ and everyone involved in OMD fighting Mephisto, maybe even raise the stakes and the big tradeoff be aunt May for Mayday and let writers go nuts.
