Ghost Machine is one year old! Let's see what Geoff Johns has been up to since leaving DC. This comic was published while it was still known as Mad Ghost.Junkyard Joe>From the explosive pages of GEIGER comes JUNKYARD JOE! The world knows him from the comic strip by recently retired cartoonist Muddy Davis, but the truth stretches back to the Vietnam War. It was there that the tragedies of combat and visions of a strange robot solider that saved his life still haunt him. However, dreams become reality when Joe mysteriously shows up on Muddy’s doorstep, warning us of a new and impending war.
I'm loving everything Ghost Machine is putting out so far. The first arc of Rook was so good.
>>146223013Thanks for it OP, it's a pretty good comic, especially when complete.
>>146222103Everything?I liked yesterday's storytime but I wasn't too into Geiger. Uninteresting characters and the whole thing just felt like a poor man's Fallout. The art was also hit or miss, with the black kids especially having faces you'd expect on adults.
>>146223301I am not liking the Geiger ongoing more than the original mini, but I still liked that. I'd say Geiger overall is my least favorite that they're doing, but I do enjoy it. I loved the first issue of Hyde Street, Rook is one of my favorite comics in general right now. And I'm really excited for Tomasi's two books coming out this month.
>>146223405Oops, I meant to say that I AM liking the ongoing more than the mini.

Why is Rook the key to saving the war-torn world of Exodus? How will everyone’s soon-to-be-favorite family of the future adapt to a new life in the present?
>>146220740They actually call the black guy Muddy?
>>146223413The on-going is much much better. I said it the other day, but Geiger felt like it was spinning in place waiting for the rest of the universe to launch.
>>146220606Thanks, OP! Really liked the story and loved how Gary Frank somehow started drawing faces instead of skin taut over not quite human skulls.
>>146224371Oh, I thought the Geiger that was posted two days ago was the ongoing. I wasn't aware that comic already released before Ghost Machine proper even started. Bit confusing.
>>146224535Geiger volume one was posted the other day.Geiger: 80-Page Giant, also posted the other day.Geiger: Ground Zero is a prequel to that coming tomorrow >>146223998Ghost Machine #1 has a Geiger short story. Then there is the Geiger volume two on-going. That is on issue #7.
>>146224535It is a bit confusing. >>146224838In addition to this, there's also The Blizzard, which was originally published in the Image anthology, and was just recently released as a trade paperback. It takes place in the same universe as Geiger and Junkyard Joe but it's not required reading.
>>146225010>it's not required readingYet. Its always been on the timeline.
>>146225045I'm enjoying watching this universe develop. It's cool I was able to get in pretty close to the beginning. I've bought every issue since Ghost Machine launched. I wish the 80 page special and Ground Zero had been included in the trade. Other than that I own it all physically.
>>146225104The deluxe edition of Geiger volume one has the 80 page giant collected. Presumably Ground Zero will come in the on-going volume one deluxe edition with the Ghost Machine story. I really like this deluxe edition, its the size of a DC absolute edition. I ended up keeping my floppies, but gave my Geiger and Junkyard Joe trades to a friend so he could get into it.
>>146225159>The deluxe edition of Geiger volume one has the 80 page giant collected.Does it have the entire 80 page giant? What I've read says "portions" of it. I think it might be missing a Redcoat story, although I guess that one can also be collected later. I don't mind double dipping on deluxe editions but I would like the peace of mind of knowing I'll eventually have everything in the Unnamed Universe in my physical collection.
It's a bit weird how ultimate white guy Geoff Johns seems to be mostly writing non-white main characters in this universe so far (Geiger and those black kids, Muddy and these hapa kids). Gives me weird Bendis vibes.
>>146222446Jesus...
>>146220606NeatI've been meaning to catch up on Junkyard Joe after enjoying the first two issues a long tome ago. Thanks for the storytime.
>>146225231It is, but Redcoat and Rook are about white folk. Redcoat is about a blond haired blue eyed British soldier that teams up with George Washington to become immortal to fight a secret society that is controlling the USA. Its not only painting American history as cool, but its respecting it and mystifying it.
>>146225231>>146225316Hyde Street is white people too, so far.
>>146223998Thanks for the storytime OP.I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one. The premise didn't sound all that interesting but the story itself was great. The ending was a bit too sweet and cheesy for my tastes though. Also Grace is cute.
>>146221042Ol tricky dick
>>146225213I just checked and no, it doesn't have Redcoat. Probably in the deluxe for Redcoat.
>>146221733>>146221758Wonder if it cost a lot to even show those strips in the comic.
>>146222164Her pointing out joe not liking guns (something super obvious) is the only part I haven't liked so far.
>>146225231Because it is trendy or zeitgeist. Thats like everyone writes about depression.
>>146225986I honestly think it was to grab a TV deal, and it worked. You have to tow the line a little bit, but I've never seen anything from Johns that suggests he's woke. He's good friends with EVS, after all.
>>146222790The action really likes Joe charging in before anyone reacts the given amount of reaction time they had. Then again this guy was old as hell.
>>146223974Thanks for the storytime.I appreciate had the story not default to military bad or any other typical twists that often seem to happen. Like I was bracing myself to have the Vet Support guy reveal to be in on it with the badguys or some shit.Could have been a bit longer, stretch out another issue so we have more time about the family struggles which seem super sidelined once we meet Joe. Or stretch out the action so it doesn't just have Joe charge in and beat someone between each pageturn.
Nobody cares Johnshills> Gorilla Marketing Thread Gorilla Marketing Thread
>>146225045None of this is required because it is all Johnslop
>>146225231Geoff Johns is part sand people, that is why he created Simon Baz>>146226008Yessir, its all calculated towards getting a prime or netflix pitch meeting.
>>146226008Are they still friends, or did Geoff just never publicly throw him under the bus?
>>146226208EVS is the biggest sissy sperg homo ever so I doubt Geoff Johns wants to acknowledge him in any way either positive or negative
>>146226149Geiger is going to be a Paramount+ show. I'm sure that turning the properties into TV shows is on their minds, Hyde Street seems tailor made for Netflix, but at the same time I've enjoyed reading all of them. They're good comics first and foremost, and I'm sure they'd make great adaptations too.
>>146226235Why not GAYger white? The West has fallen!
>>146226104>>146226125Hey Johnsshillanon, was wondering when you'd show up? How's calling everyone Johnsshills going for you?
>>146226371Nice try Guerilla Marketers, but your the lolcow here not me Johnshill
>>146226008Of the tv pitches Junkyard Joe would probably work the best.I means its ET but with a robot with ptsd. You mellow out the deadly gunshots to a pg13 rating and you got a family movie that sells.
>>146226519Yeah but Junkyard Joe sucks, Geiger Sucks, RedCoat sucks ad Rook sucks
>>146226582Based Hyde Street enjoyer.
>>146223974I don't hate it, but it's so obviously all meant as TV pitches. So working off of the idea that all of this was originally supposed to be a line at DC like Morrison's Seven Soldiers we've gotJunkyard Joe is the G.I. RobotGeiger and his setting are the Atomic KnightsRedcoat is Lord ShillingThe Monster? The Northener?American Widow X?the First Ghost?
This all seems very boring.
