Caine also isn't all-powerful and can really only interact with the avatars, there is no proof the can harm the players or kill them by himself, abstraction seems to be a purely mental process and just hitting the characters over and over will just cause the sensation of pain and not abstract them, unless Caine resorted to torture - which I believe, he is incapable of since he was programmed into the game by someone - the avatars he can't really harm anyone or even force them into the adventures

The only question is, if the players know they essentially have to kill Caine to leave, will they still do it? Jax of course would, Zooble probably too but I'm unsure of the others.

I've seen authors drive their plot off a cliff to increase the spectacle but I don't think that's how 'sworx works
