Most of the shorts up to 1930 were just Mickey banging on objects, playing instruments, tapping his toe to the music, or pulling on things to make a sound. They weren't really concerned with a basic three-act story until things like Pioneer Days or The Fire Fighters where Mickey has an actual conflict to face.

>>146446746Mickey is the adult's inner child, Donald is the adult's desire to be rebellious and lash out against the world and Goofy is the adult adjusting to his role and finding joy in the smaller things in life.
