Hello, /co/. i'm bored. and I've got nothing else to do. so here's the first 3 issues of a 6 issue miniseries.>but gee, anon. what IS 1963?1963 was Alan Moore's attempt at homaging silver age Marvel. it was intended to lead up to a big crossover annual with some of Image's more famous characters, but this never happened. (there was eventually an Annual made by Don Simpson, I believe. but he couldn't use most of the characters and it was some meta bullshit, so I won't be posting that.)

If you knew about the 1963 series then it's read as if the Tomorrow Syndicate and Fury finally found the Mystery Inc in some unseen sequence and they all got transformed into exaggerations of the 1963 characters (Cyclobster is obviously N-Man, going off on how Bissette designed N-Man with a lobster in mind). If you don't know about the 1963 series then they're just all-new characters (with ties to Don Simpson's characters)

I think a lot of people also pass over the meta narrative of the fake publishing company Moore was using to satirize Stan Lee and the 60s Marvel bullpen, it provides a lot of interesting context to the story overall. I think Rick Veitch even did an entire kayfabe interview back in the day
