>>146673394was just about to post this. too damn good. and i'm not even a big pokemon fan.i do wonder what happened to the creator, though. hope they're doing fine. i'm not really all supportive of their friends getting together and continuing the comic without the creator, considering the fact that the art and writing will most likely be completely different, but i suppose it's better than nothing. it's not like you're going to get a fanfic made by one fan of the comic put on ao3 or fanfic dot net, when you take into consideration how niche the comic already is (hell, the first result when you type "pokemon victory fire" into google is a rom hack).

Does anyone remember one called Revvvolution (as in like "rev up")? It was set in a gritty dystopia where two robbers and a journalist duo were both onto some kinda sensitive information regarding the people in power, got chased into a brutal car race, one of the crooks and the reporter's cameraman died violently and the remaining two had to team up. Most everybody looked pretty grotesque and scabby, to reflect how polluted the world was.
Girly
What's a long gone webcomic that unironically only you (if not read then at least) remember?"Teddy & Newt" on Comicsnation. The floating heads of Teddy Roosevelt and Isaac Newton doing surreal shit. Somebody stole Ted's neck in his sleep once. Another time we got a closeup of Isaac SICK tat. The panels rarely changed.Funnily enough I passed on the opportunity to back it all up twice. First the site went down with the pictures, but I somehow found the text script to each strip, but only bookmarked it. Now that's gone too.Not a colossal loss or anything, just reminiscing.
>>146673110>PrequelIs it dead in the sense that no one cares anymore or that it gets no updates?
>>146684959Honestly that's what I'm most curious about. Like what the fuck was Kazerad doing? He's not super fucking busy.
>>146685012> Like what the fuck was Kazerad doing?Working at a 7/11?
>>146684948Our Intrepid Crew. It was probably doomed from the start, because it very obviously committed the webcomic sin of using too many pages for inconsequential stuff. Basically the entire comic was one big prologue about a far future human girl (who are implied to be incredibly reclusive, and have purple skin for some reason) on the run joining up with the eclectic crew of a space ship. It had good art and fun characters. It wasn't truly special, I suppose, but I liked it enough to read it until it ended. The site went kaput years ago. The writer posted a few pages on Imgur, but despite hinting that he might never released all pages. That's all that's left. It's pretty old by now, and the art holds up even by today's standards. Back when it was running, it was probably one of the best looking webcomics online. No idea what that artist ended up doing, but that boy had some talent.
>>146673110
>>146673110>>146674587>>146680054It's like I was warped back to 2013.
>>146681490I used to read The Dreamland Chronicles. Probably one of the few not-awful 3D comics around. I'm not sure if it counts, because it's finished rather than dead, though the last two chapters have regular art. The guy behind it went on to write and direct Animal Crackers, and he still seems to be active in the entertainment industry. But going by the tried and true Rule 34 Test, it does seem somewhat niche, with only a handful of entries by a single artist.Mine would be Inhuman, though that's also finished instead of abandoned. Late 90's/early 2000's furry edge at its finest. I haven't kept up with it in years, though. But now that it's done it might be worth it to just plow through the archive at some point.

>>146684948There's one I remember from way back in the day. It took place in a post-apocalyptic setting in the aftermath of a global nuclear war, the protagonist was a family man who lost his wife and kids (not sure if they were dead or just missing) and his dog, and he makes a living as a courier transporting goods in his truck. There was also a little girl and an ex-military guy living alone in a bunker. The part I remember best is a chapter where he's stranded in a ghost town infested with irradiated mutants and he gets an extended sequence where he mulches the lot of them, capped off with a panel where his flapping cape/coat thing resembles wings to make him look like a post-apoc angel of death. The comic was in black and white and had a dirty, scratchy pencil-and-ink style.

>>146673140I've been working on it! I've posted about it in other threads when it comes up, but if anyone here wants the transparent TMI: the last year or so has really just been me trying to get my life back together. Basically, I had a really bad problem with letting friends use me as their personal therapist, and at some point it sunk in that a handful of people were managing to be a bigger time sink to me than taking care of a parent with dementia was. I was basically left dedicating 0-1 days a week to work and trying to shrug it off as no big deal (you guys have probably seen me do this). Which, obviously, is retarded. I got into doing Prequel right off the tail of a psychology degree and trying to be there for people has always been very important to me. It's been rough telling myself "you can't help here. This person needs a professional, and if they wont see one, then turning to you for help is just wasting your time". But, in retrospect I realized the way I was approaching it was hindering my ability to be there for other friends, family, and you guys (as in, people who read the comic I'm supposed to be doing instead of consoling grown-ass men and women over the internet). Some of the friends I broke contact with have taken it very maturely and understood. Others have, like, completely lost it and are trying to make me feel bad for it (the guy posting with the name Kazerad earlier in this thread is one, he's been on a downward slope of schizophrenia for a long time). Overall though, it's been positive, and am getting at least a little more done. The comic will update tonight or tomorrow, here's a panel from it. Anyway, if you guys want to see more of me, I still stream periodically on Picarto (though not as much lately since I've been focusing on work stuff for a bit). Any stream on a weekday is typically work, on a weekend is typically games with friends.

>>146689072What's worse>webcomic that's 100% honest that it's a fetish>webcomic that's 100% coy that it's a fetish>webcomic that threads the needle 50/50
>>146689332>This person needs a professional, and if they wont see one, then turning to you for help is just wasting your time". But, in retrospect I realized the way I was approaching it was hindering my ability to be there for other friends, family, and you guys (as in, people who read the comic I'm supposed to be doing instead of consoling grown-ass men and women over the internet).I really enjoy how smug you are about ditching people that weren't good enough for you. Fucking based!
>>146692135>webcomic that's 100% coy that it's a fetishI fucking hate it, and it's most webcomics. The worst cringe is when a fucking furry comic desperately tries to stay SFW and serious but always slips, like Sabrina Online and Twokinds. Twokinds, I can't remind people often enough, is about the male artist being isekai'd into a furry world where he's female, and then he proceeded to draw pregnant art of her. It's incredibly weird that noone made a lolcow video about that shit yet considering it went on for decades.
>>146692135The coy and 50/50 ones for sure, because if any aspect of it is good it's marred by the fetish shit. If it's obviously about its fetish then atleast you already know what you're getting into. Nothing worse than a dishonest author IMO
>>146692331One second of youtube searching and there's enough videos about TwoKinds. Besides, what's the say about something people like when you have Project 2nd to make fun of instead?
>>146692331>and then he proceeded to draw pregnant art of her.Sorry I haven't been keeping up with webcomics, but what the fuck?
>>146673110I've seen a lot of webcomics die but none of them quite the way Vibe did. The protagonist's sister comes back after being gone for the first 5 chapters of the story. He's happy to see her but things have changed, shortly afterwards she beheads him and the series goes on indefinite hiatus. So essentially the protagonist just fails, gets his head chopped off, and the story abruptly ends.
>>146692018bruh if those people weren't paying him for his time he's under no moral obligation to drag their asses out of bed while he has his own life to think about.
>>146692331>Twokinds, I can't remind people often enough, is about the male artist being isekai'd into a furry world where he's female, and then he proceeded to draw pregnant art of her.I thought it was amnesia, and wasn't the blue-haired fag the author's self insert, not the tiger bitch?
>>146692551I only read the last chapter, but it actually would've been pretty interesting if the story just switched over to his sister from that point. It sounds like he was supposed to come back, but having him legit die and stay dead for a while so his words could have time to sink in for her would've been actual quality.
>>146692563For sure, but leading people on to believe they had help for years and then just cutting them off is kinda fucked.
>>146692018I mean, it's Kaz we're talking about, so there's at least a 50/50 chance these friends of his are about as real as those artists and programmers who were supposed to provide assets for that one update- y'know, the one that ended up taking literal years because Kaz was just too patient and trusting and gosh-darn nice to ever check in on them?
>>146692976Those people are adults, not children, they can survive without their Kaznanny. Just because they got used to riding off of his bent back doesn't mean they deserve to keep the entitlement, especially when its detrimental to his own work/life balance.
I'm gonna slap Katia on the ass.
>>146693120ok duster, just because you ERP with him doesn't mean you need to white knight him
>>146692609I'm VERY sure I remember its the tiger bitch, and if not, he build up an entire webcomic around a fictional self insert relationship which is equally bad. I mean I did that shit too, but until I was 15, not for 20 years straight.I vaguely remember it because the beginning of the comic is the only thing I read, because the way he drew the eyes on the character's foreheads immensely pissed me off.
>>146692018>>146692976If this were any other thread you guys would be calling those people pussies for needing help at all.
>>146692563Yeah, like money was honestly a big factor in it; I was skipping work a lot to be there when people needed. I did what I could for years to make it clear I couldn't keep it up forever, and make sure everyone had insurance and access to therapists. It's still been kind of rough, though. >>146692102Naw, like without giving out private information I've seen/corresponded with enough of the people involved that I'm pretty confident there's actually stuff going on, and from what I've heard second-hand things seem a little better. I hope for the best for him and all of them, I've just been trying to make sure my relationship to friends now remains more Friendlike and not Therapistlike.>>146693010I don't know how to politely check in on someone who's patiently waiting for a relative to die and trying to spend their last moments together! Or the fact that Portugese author Fernando Pessoa would occasionally do something similar where he would invent people and write as those people? Or José Saramago writing a book following one of those personas in the year after Pessoa's death as a meditation on life, death, fiction, and reality? Pic related, "I know not what tomorrow will bring" is Pessoa's last writing. The day before his death. You know, I'm not saying that a prolific Portugese author was reincarnated as a black American furry pornographic comic artist. But it's an interesting premise.

>>146673110>>146673140Okay, I've already gotten the same messages more than a hundred times over, but it seems as if that it's not enough for everyone to have me keep repeating the same answers over and over again, to every single one of you, everywhere, all the time. So please be patient with me, as I'm going to try to be as clear and frank as possible with everyone about my situation as this site will allow me.I understand that a lot of people are angry with me, and maybe even with my friends and family, for not updating the comic as frequently as you all expect me to be doing, and, again, I'm sorry, but, again, my life has been so stressful and full of stuff that comes out of literally nowhere lately that I just cannot put in the same energy and care that I used to toward the comic, one that, let me remind everyone, I've been working on for a decade at the very least and for practically free (please don't take this as a cue to spam my stuff with donos and shit). So, update everyone about wha's going on, in a nutshell, on top of the comic, I've also been making a few video games with my friends and loyal followers on Discord (feel free to hit me up on my Picarto channel whenever I'm streaming and I'll be more than willing to get you up to date on all that stuff), along with taking care of a lot of loose ends in my personal life such as legal proceedings over a stalker that's been pestering me for so long, and I'm also thinking about doing some charity work on the side like relief for Haiti. I can answer all sorts of questions regarding some more minute details, but please bear with me as I've got lots of things to do, and I've barely any time to finish even a slim fraction of them in.Anyways, that pretty much sums up how my life's been going, and also Sabrotiger rapes his dogs and he's a depressed deadbeat degenerate.P.S.: disregard that previous post from that other guy, that was an imposter who's been messing with me by claiming to be me all over here.

>>146701259>check her twatter>no posts since mid 2019Maybe she really did die. Shame. Like the one good thing to come out of VICE.
>>146680054He never worked out what he wanted housepets to be or how he wanted to do it, so any idiot that told him "do thing" made him want to do the thing even if it didn't work or if he should've just stuck with what he was doing. It's why if you'd seen any other anons try to fully summarize housepets, the description radically changes multiple times. I refuse to give him any benefit of the doubt anymore, as he at one point on his forums got mad at people who were literally telling him to take more breaks in between arcs, which he doesn't mention even though he still bitches about every bit of criticism he's received to this day and whines about having done it for so long without breaks.Last I checked his actual content he was still doing comics, I just remember them being boring so I didn't care to follow them, housepets only had me till the end due to sunk cost.
>>146701421It's still weird to think that VICE used to be good
>>146701460Housepets was just a fetish comic for the last few years of its existence. The issue was it was the most basic, boring, and poorly thought out fetish comic imaginable. The story didn't matter, the characters didn't matter, the setting didn't matter, everything was just a vehicle for fetish material.
>>146701509Unironically>what if everyone turned into a housepetcould make for an interesting comic but you have to plan it from the start
>>146701532A project like that, that fully explored the implications of half the population turning into animals on both a personal and societal level without relying exclusively on dismissing everything with humor or handwaving everything with vague magical bullshit is completely and utterly beyond the reach of a guy like Rick Griffin.
>>146701613Alternatively what if he just wanted to draw kink shit
>>146701640Then you end up with boring soft core fetish porn. Housepets as a comic, was made for, and was only ever good at, being about sentient housepets and animals living thier own goofy lives parallel to human society. If he started an entirely new project the focused entirely on his kinks then maybe he could do something good but after seeing how lazy he was about that stuff in housepets I really doubt it. He really only ever comes across as a boring creator.
>>146701689>lazyShit man I never drawn anything in my life finishing a webcomic after a decade feels like the opposite of lazy

>>146708115I was actually looking for it, fanx!
>>146689332>The comic will update tonight or tomorrowWell I'll be damned, you estimated correctly. You forgot to update twitter though. There are ways to turn the RSS notifications into tweets automatically, you should set that up, it takes like 5 minutes max.
>>146708115I hated the sanitized "reboot" where the self-insert donut steel caretaker is rewritten to be less of an asshole because they hated that the fanbase found him to be an insufferable cunt rather than sympathizing with him for having a shitty childhood.Who knew that being abused by a child doesn't negate disgust from the audience when you as an adult also abuse kids?Honestly the creator was smoking crack with that logic.Anyways, the reboot was mostly focused on the caretaker being a miserable neurotic idiot and it promptly went on hiatus, doubt it will come back.
>>146708709>abused by a childI'm sure you meant abused AS a child.
It's honestly harder to find webcomics that aren't dead
>>146708877But that only makes the finished or ongoing ones stand out all the more.
>>146707412Well, I won't miss it. That comic was just naked propaganda. Its base idea was OK, but nothing Earth-shattering.>>146707467I lost a lot of respect for this author when I discovered she kept up her Patreon, leeching money from forgetful people, without updating said Patreon for years. She was pretty popular, so she got hundreds of bucks per month.>>146708171For me it's the other way around. I consider Mare Internum to be much better. Its pacing is much better, it restricts itself to a few characters, it's got a clear theme, and it's pretty unique in terms of characters and story. I've never seen anything like it. And while The Meek only ever amounted to a bunch of disjointed prologues, Mare Internum actually finished. The Meek was just obviously overambitious, and would have required Herculean discipline to get anywhere over the course of a decade. It was never going to happen.
>>146705758>>146707656Where are these two from?

>>146709112Oh yeah, I was looking at that. completely fucked up. Hasn't touched the story in over 7 years. Not even a comment. Her second comic, Mare Internum, ended in 2019. She made a Kickstarter book about Quail in 2021.So yeah, years of nothing, no readily acceccable update on WHY The Meek is once again in a coma, but still riding on almost a thousand bucks a month from Patreon. Hasn't even made a Patreon post in over three years.I fucking hate Patreon. It feels, kind of like you said, predatory against forgetful people. It should not be allowed to have these indefinite auto-renewals. Frankly, nothing should. Even if it's just an e-mail the person has to receive and click a "Yes" to. More renewals need a dead-man switch.Anyway, naturally she made a BlueSky account she posts on frequently.
>>146710131Yeah, something like that would help for Patreon, but businesses can just get you into eternal memberships, so they do. And I suppose there's sense to it for something like insurance, which you really don't want to forget your way out of paying, but for something like Patreon it seems like a load of horseshit. But it's the personal flaw that really gets me. Just dropping the Patreon and the comic cold without saying anything, but sitting there being extremely active on social media and using Meek art as her avatar. I mean, lady, what is it? Do you identify with that comic as your work or not? Because for someone who puts it front and center on her socials, you really don't seem to give a fuck. It's also still listed as Ongoing on her portfolio site, which is total bullshit. Like you said, she hasn't touched it since 2017, which is also the year it won an Ignatz.I can sort of understand her quitting comics. Some people are just like that. They get tired of things others can love for a lifetime. It's tragic, given her clear high skill, but it happens. But there's only one way I can describe her behavior, and that is self-centered. It costs nothing to just cap off The Meek with an "ain't gonna happen no mo". Shutting down Patreon is just the decent thing to do. The narcissistic social media behavior while clearly incredibly privileged just adds to the bad taste this all leaves in my mouth.

>>146715258It's a combination of two things. Every artist or writer has their fetish. Every webcomic wants to make it big, so they make their comic vanilla as fuck to attract the biggest audience. Eventually the artist or writer gets horny and tries to act sly by inserting it. The comic would never reach success if they made it for themselves first so the only option is to use the comic as a release valve for pent up horny.

>>146721028https://feastforaking.com/It's a weird sprawling comic about gay aliens in some weird planet... the artist obviously has chops but has made a decision to only spend like an hour per page, so there's THOUSANDS of pages and while some of the art is nice, it's mostly just quick scribbles. There's one point where a character has a flashback and then another character in the flashback has a hallucination and there's another flashback inside the hallucination... it's interesting but I eventually bounced off a couple thousand pages in.
>>146735180thats smart. most webcomics take ages to make a page
>>146735210Yeah! It is genuinely a good decision I think. But the storytelling is a little wild, as I mentioned, hard to keep track of what's going on. I just opened a random page and there were a bunch of new characters I'd not seen in my previous several thousand pages read, and bam, another flashback (To some characters I did recognize, at least) so it seems both the art and the writing are a little stream of consciousness. However, all I will say this Sabrotiger is a scum-sucking degenerate who rapes his dogs and his sister is a worthless whore.
>>146674587considering his website is down, seems like this one is super dead and wont ever come back
>>146735801I learnt about Vivzie from this, not HHShame her animated version of it got so much hate, the world of this felt much more interesting than HH/HB
>>146735801I thought so too, and was mad it was stopped in favor of some stupid bullshit called "Hazbin Hotel". And now I watched all of HH, and it is the best thing she did. Zoophobia however?>premise: woman is scared of animals>gets isekai'd to animal land>but all animals are cute (generally) and sapient and talk English>at least half of the story is told form the POV of said cute upright English speaking animals>so the main premise is not executed at ALL>plus as the comic goes on it slips into boring high school teenage drama bullshitI guess growing up is realizing Zoophobia is Mid Country.

>>146742338I mean I don't fault him for ending the comic. Webcomics aren't for everyone especially what he was trying to do. He got in over his head and realized it, there's no shame in it.

>>146700139>>146700301>>146736236You guys, he died a few months ago
It technically did end, but it ended up being so soulless after Chapter 50 or so, and it's entirely because of his pandering to the fandom. He basically ruined arguably one of the most emotional beats, focused too much on Kiel (who had become an absolutely obnoxious character after the timeskip), and basically phoned in the ending with "everyone is happy, everything is solved, babies everywhere". I get he was probably burned out after over 20 years of working on it, and really wanted to work on his new series but man. I followed it since 2004, and liked that he'd go ahead and kill off characters and seemed to actually make stakes back in the day, so this sort of toothless conclusion where everything is solved is just shitty. Also his art/anatomy really went down the drain...
>>146744038>has turned into a degenerate>art gotten so much worse over timeStop trying to stir nonsense drama. His art looks about the same, and you can't claim in any capacity that you "somehow" didn't know the artist behind a comic called /trash/ knight with a dragon and kobold prostitutes would be a degenerateYou want drama? Some lolcow to milk and parade around, like the starved kiwifag you are? Go look up Numcasta, from Res Nullius (https://web.archive.org/web/20171229135240/http://resnullius.the-comic.org/comics/2): used to post in the /hyw/ threads a decade ago. God I miss that story. Now go look up "Thunderouserections" on e6, see what has become of him. You know what hurts? being there since around page 3-5, looking forward to every update seeing his scifi worldbuilding and a budding romance develop. Watching the comic die, then come back! ...and die again with complete radio silence. And only then years later, find out he's still around under a different pen name, faithfully working for the last 7 years on some pedo comic he started working on around the same time the hiatus that first killed Res Nullius hit.And sure, just like you, I can't claim I wasn't expecting the guy doing a human on space lizard romance space opera with the occasional tame tiddy on the side (in the comic's blog) wouldn't be a "degenerate". But there's orders of magnitude between someone that was already doing porn and trying out a comparatively tamer story returning to do the same kind of porn under a different name, vs someone going from doing story-centric art with rare the rare lewd to dropping everything for a teen-on-teen sex centric furry comic.
>>146754173More like you died before you were born. Because you are a husk of a human, undeserving of life.
>>146754309Are you talking about Trash Knight, or your comic?
>>146754309You warned me it was dead, so it's my own fault for reading it and getting attached knowing there won't be any more. I enjoyed what there was, though. That probably counts for something.
>>146753510TF won and vore lost in the webcomic wars
>>146754124>died>then finished>the ending was>maybe it'll continue idk lolFurry webcomics are marvelous trainwrecks I can't get enough
>>146756604Webcomics in general are mostly either trainwecks or complete nonstarters. It takes a special kind of creator to commit to a long form story driven webcomic.
>>146755603But why is tf so popular with webcomics while the other isn't. Every other webcomic shared is either kick started by a character turning into something or involves casually turning into things.
>>146757182There are plenty of vore comics, the issue is that they all revolve around a glorified snuff fetish which drastically limits storytelling potential. Most don't last very long but the ones that do are often extremely one note, either being an endless sting of people being eaten with barely any plot or a drawn out sequence building up to people being eaten and killed in horrifying ways. Sometimes both depending on the authors mood
>>146732608I thought minus had ended?
>>146757182>But why is tf so popular with webcomics while the other isn't.Because unwilling TF can be an interesting plot and/or be porn, while vore will always be 100% fetishistic. The only real exception would be hard vore.
>>146673110Green knight is a dead webcomic I used to read.It didn't die in the middle of an "episode" but it never completed the story arc that it was on.Here is the first page. It was about a knight who was turned into a frog. The website is dead, but you can find the stuff on the wayback machine thankfully.
>17 years>They're still in AcapulcoI wouldn't have it any other way.
>>146673110Another kinda dead webcomic is true magic.Though it kinda picked up pace, but it moved from a stanard webcomic to text with illustration because of how slow it updated. This comic started all the way back in 2003 or so, but got rebooted in 2008. It's still not even half way done. It's enjoyable but updates so slow.
>>146757532Willing TF couldn't be interesting either?
>dropped Prequel years ago due to update problems>still update problems>still walls of texts from Kaz about update problemsNot shitting on Kaz but Prequel and other webcomics really taught me how to just recognize the patterns early and save myself a headache. If you don't mind the long waits and radio silence and then eventually trauma dump to explain it, that's fine. But I see a lot of people lose their mind when something doesn't update and then frustrate themselves jumping to another work that is doing the same thing. Learn to let go and maybe come back in a few years.
>>146673110There's 2 extremes that too many webcomics fall into:The western way: Updates get slower and slower till the comic loses momentum and dies. The Korean way: Large updates are forcibly squeezed out of the creators everyweek. Quality suffers and the company decides to cancel the series so the creator is forced to rush the ending.
>>146757715I find webcomics vary between two polar opposites. There's the "updates every now and then" webcomic like Prequel, Lackadaisy Cats, and Gone with the Blastwave. They might promise a schedule at one point, but they rarely keep at it, and updates become sporadic at best. When they do update, it's usually pretty good. Solid art, writing, humor, whatever. Not always worth the wait, but archive binges are very enjoyable. Then there is the "updates on time every time even if it's just stick figures" webcomics like Sluggy Freelance. The schedule is held to no matter what, even if it means filler non-canon strips. The artwork usually isn't that great, or the humor, and it all feels a bit samey, all a result of being continually pumped out. Going through the archives is hit and miss, some story arcs are alright, others are tumors you regret wasting time on. That being said, you aren't left hanging on an update for months on end waiting to see if it will even be continued.
>>146757513Patreon exclusives aren't webcomics. Seems like a nice solution. Have the cast get culled by getting eaten eventually you finish the comic instead of abandoning it.
>>146758378It's not patreon exclusive anon. And maybe but it makes for a shitty story
>>146758845>makes for a shitty story
>>146758943Indeed
>>146758996kek
>>146758222That's bullshit. You're just taking two extremes and pretending they're universal rules. The reality is, it takes a lot of discipline to keep up a webcomic, and creators with that discipline are able to keep up with their updating schedule. Some of them are skilled artists, some are not. There are plenty of mediocre to shit artists who have spotty updating schedules, for instance, but you've never heard of them because they're mediocre to shit.
>>146757513I find this comic incredibly fascinating. I found it completely by accident on FA and it does absolutely nothing for me sexually but it's just so..... unique?
