This was easily Hank's best costume besides Yellowjacket but I also think Rita Demara should be the main mantle holder for that since she purrrty. Giant-man suit both looks cool and still clearly having the strong ant imagery he needs in his design without looking to silly.
>>
>>146705214
I kinda wish they did more with the Janice Lincoln pairing since I quite like her but same time pairing her with Randy was fun for interaction between their dads with a lot of history. I still think Hank and Rita woulda been a fun dynamic if it was mostly him thinking she's being nice while she is somewhat spiting Janice for not sticking with him like how she was down bad for Black Knight when Janet turned him down for reminding her of Hank.
>>
>>146705105
This is going to be blasphemy but for me the coolest Ant-Man costume will always be the first MCU suit, it has so many things going for that I love and I always thought it was a design that could also work on 2D
>>
ANTS
>>
>>146705315
to be fair the Ant-man suit in the MCU is genuinely cool since it just radiates Tokusatsu vibes, like the Yellowjacket suit also looks fucking radical in that film. The concept art for Hank's version in Antman and the Wasp of it also looked real dope but also didn't give him a helmet sadly
>>
>>146705248
Tell me more about Rita DeMara, what are her comics? A girl running around as Yellowjacket sounds good
>>
>>146705381
well sadly she's been dead since 2006 but she debuted in Avengers #236 as a crook stealing the left over Yellowjacket suit and customizing it for herself, she was defeated in her debut by the first time she shrunk herself completely causing her to panic utterly since she wasn't psychologically ready for it. Afterwards she appeared in the Under Siege story as a member of the Masters of Evil being one of the clearer nicer members since she doesn't put up with Fixer's simping or Mister Hyde trying to murder a guy but is clearly stuck along for the ride, was in #12 of Solo Avengers which this lovely page is from and played a part in the Evoloutionary war plus became an Avenger/Guardians of the Galaxy member before sadly being killed off in The Crossing. Last thing she did was appear in Dead Avengers where she got resurrected for a bit to help save a ton of people and called Dr Druid a dick/asshole/comic book swearing.

I keep thinking about how they did him so dirty with Janet
>Be Hank
>wife ded
>college slut drops all over you
>give her powers and propuse
>become a crime fighting couple
>complete mog whirlwind
>avengers starts
>Janet is the only woman on the team and the book needs drama so you have to get cucked for drama to happen
>Janet starts whoring out to the rest of the avengers. is framed as a shit test or banter from her side but to you and other people it seems more like you are getting cucked and are the weakest member with a partner that doesn't respect you
>pretty much every single mental issue and insecurities can be traced down to Janet making you feel like a lesser man compared to your peers and you trying your hardest to prove yourself worthy
>ffw slap
>ffw rekindle with Janet only to get quite literally cucked by Hawkeye
>also you get turned into a robot and your lost daughter who idolized you gets raised by Janet who shit talks you
>your daughter changes her name from Pym to Van Dyne
>your lab and assets change name to Van Dyne as well

Janet is such a shit love interest, to say she is the avengers bicycle is an understatement
>>
>>146705214
All those women have moved on
>>
>>146705634
EMH Janet really is the best one just by genuinely being a great character and not as unintentionally nasty at times. Helps her flaws are much more called out/balanced out by Hank as a character since they have a healthier relationship and the main issue is how different they are as people.
>>
>>146704927
Not read any other ant man story aside from irridemable and to be fair even the people in his own world don't give him the respect he deserves.
The whole premise of the story is a shield agent steals the suit and goes around using it to snoop on girls, get pussy and steal purses. Meanwhile everyone in the avengers are all busy with actual problems like the hulk rampaging and civil war just having happened so they're like "hmm? Yeah whatever shield can sort it out I guess". I won't say much more because I it's a great story and I think anyone reading this should go on and read that instead if you think it sounds fun. Highly highly reccomend.
Not sure if they do much else with Eric O'grady after his run cause I didn't give a shit about the avengers story afterwards.

Just naming the few girls he's been with, because he really doesn't have anyone, the dating scene is not kind to a 40+ divorced single dad ex-con that's also a superhero. According to this book, (which is not set in 616) Scott even had flings with Black Widow and Emma Frost, he even made a rule to never date mutants again.

>>
>>146706941
well they hang a lot in Nick Spencer's Spider-man run, Secret Empire #1 and 8, Captain America Steve Rogers #12, 14 and that's what can remember. I know that essentially Rick Remender brought him back as an LMD but Spencer liked using him a lot anyway despite that
>>

The original O'Grady met Taskmaster back in Avengers the Initiative

They bonded over making fun of Scott Lang and then pretending to die/be injured so that they wouldn't be forced to fight KIA

At some point you guys just have to accept that he's canonically a mentally ill wife-beater no matter what the 'original intent' was. It's part of his character now, stop being faggots and making excuses when you wouldn't do the same to nearly every other character who had a spot of bad writing.

The Janice stuff in Spencer's Astonishing was really fun but way too short lived. All the hotness of Batman/Catwoman or Spider-Man/Black Cat but none of the shitty, drawn out will-they-won't-they soap opera.
Unfortunately, Janice is pretty tainted as a character now after everything that happened with her in Wells/JRJR's Spider-Man.
>>
>>146713456
Janice just straight up changing race in the recent comics is insane to me
>>
>>146713581
She's been half Black since Spencer revealed her dad was Tombstone
And her mom is Dominican

So she definitely shouldn't be White
>>
>>146713581
I seriously don't know how that even happens.
It'd be one thing if it was a blanket racelift like what happened to the Maximoff twins (which would still be stupid shit, btw), but the big problem is that everyone else still draws her as usual even in issues of ASM from that very same run, and then when JRJR comes along he's drawing her like she's some fully black ghetto girl. It's a massive discrepancy I can only attribute to terrible editing.

it's even more frustrating since that was in a more recent storyline so it was fresher but it's even more ignored by everyone and their mother. EMH at least gave us a Hank not having to deal with ANY of this shit and just get to be a cool character.

yeah I do like how EMH gives their relationship flaws and problems but more grounded and arguably more mature ones where they clearly care for each other plus want what's best for each other but are just such vastly different people with different interests that it causes them problems, like it's a very compelling dive into how even if opposites attract is a fun dynamic the sheer struggles that can come of it. I think it's as fair as you can get

>It's not his fault he's mentally ill, but there's no excuse for hitting her whether he's sick or not but it's something she was able to accept and forgive because it wasn't a continued pattern (no matter what some writers would have you believe)
>The fact that he never got on medication or got therapy or noticed when he was getting into a manic state and became a danger to other people is the problem.

Everyone involved was motivated to do something good after the Wright fiasco, Peyton Reed, Adam Mckay and Paul Rudd literally locked themselves into a hotel room to make the final script based on the original and the one with a billions of notes from Marvel. The hard part was making sequels. Also fun fact, Quantumania is the tenth most expensive film ever made (not adjusted for inflation).
>>
>>146717573
I don't hate the idea of Quantamania, but they needed less shitty humour, better effects/script, despite liking Kang in everything else should've used Psycho Man since he's the tyrant of a tiny realm character and remove MODOK but keep Darren Cross and also don't have everyone be shitty to Scott for trying to enjoy his retirement.

He does fit better the Quantum Realm setting like the comics but they really just wanted to have movie about Ant-Man vs Big Avengers Bad Guy and liked Kang because he was the biggest villain that's not been used. An idea this ambitious could have used a way better writer than Jeff Loveness, or at least no re-write the thing while filming.

He was combined with Ultron for years
And then the Avengers imprisoned Ultron inside a Vibranium coffin enchanted with Asgardian Runes
And then the coffin was hit by a Time Accelerator Ray that mixed it all together and sent Ultron into the future where he had become All-Father Ultron

And Hank used what tiny control he had over Ultron's subsconcious to control a small fraction of the All-Power to separate himself from All-Father Ultron and send himself back to the present. But it came at a cost and a small back up of Ultron came along for the ride

Yeah, Quantumania's whole problem is that it doesn't do a good job at establishing and resolving the character arcs of the cast, Scott and Cassie don't really address their personal issues, the plot takes over and they are fine by end because they just survived a near death experience. There's so much meat to the missing 5 years between Scott and Cassie that one would think that would be a huge plot point when facing Kang, a guy that controls time.

So guys, we know that superheroes don't have an actual "endgame" but what do you imagine would be the ideal end point for every Ant-Man? Like, what role or development would feel right for them to close their story, heroic sacrifice, retirement?
>>
>>146746439
Hank Pym ends up retiring after inventing stuff that improves life/change status quo of every day life to retire with Janet/whichever girl he hooks with while hanging with bugs every know and then as he goes back to researching bugs.
>>
>>146746615
I think Hank also becoming a mentor/teacher for the future generation like in Avengers Academy fits well, he can enjoy his retirement while guiding new heroes
>>
>>146747410
yeah exactly, that way you can give him a nice end but give him nice moments of suiting up once or twice to help out on a villain if his students are in over their heads but still be sure to give a reason he doesn't do it all the time. Avengers Arena should've been the first issue but as Mettle is about to be blasted, Hank makes Arcade eat shit as he dismantled his entire operation while he was fixated on killing kids to prove he's not a loser and then without his cheating bullshit just gets jumped by these very fucking angry teenagers.
>>
>>146747526
>while he was fixated on killing kids to prove he's not a loser
Never gave Avengers Arena a chance and only have second hand knowledge, was this really Arcade's motivation? That sounds really pathetic lol
>>
>>146748697
Yeah essentially on his birthday the villains that go openly shit on him and say they are just their for the food and drink, my bro Constrictor in particular. The funny thing is Arcade is smug after arena but then Zemo and several of the same villains shit on him even more for killing kids and uploading it like they are meant to be impressed he couldn't cut it with experienced heroes and then painted an even bigger target by being a child killer.

>>
>>146749357
>>146749485
qrd on what happened in The Crossing?
>>
>>146749533
TL:DR version. Tony Stark becomes evil because Kang and Mantis from bad future mind controlled him to kill girl Yellow Jacket and shoot Wasp. Hank used science to try and save Wasp and she became monster warp. Tony Stark died but they replaced him with a time displaced teenager version of himself. Then Onslaught happened, which sucked, and everyone became Heroes Reborn, which also sucked, and then something something Franklin Richards and the heroes came back and it was like none of this happened and we got the wonderful Busiek run where Tony and Wasp were back to normal.
>>
>>146749525
The only time teen Tony worked was Ironman Armoured Adventures but that's because they build around him being younger and does great with his cast, villains and has top notch character design. Also yeah was Yellowjacket, they killed her and it's worse cause Thunderbolts was gonna use her and give her more backstory but that obviously fell through.
>>
>>146749624
>Yellowjacket, they killed her and it's worse cause Thunderbolts was gonna use her and give her more backstory but that obviously fell through.

Bummer. That'd have been a good fit.
>>
>>146749636
Yeah especially since she was one of the founding Masters of Evil in the Under Siege story which the Thunderbolts roster mostly draws from, just a damn waste since I really like her. I wish she got to interact with Hank Pym since that coulda been a very fun dynamic and her simping coulda been funny since now Wasp has to see what she put Pym through with her flirting with other guys.

For Scott, I think the best would be for him to finally be successful with his small security company and make it grow into a respectable institution in the heroic community because it could become the best route to reform ex-super crooks and villains' henchmen. It could also rival Taskmaster's goon school from way back.

Their backs were against the wall and they were desperate. Once you know that, it's hard to be mad at them.

To be honest, there were some good ideas and new characters around that time, but what they did to Tony and Jan was so hated it just overshadowed everything else, and led to later writers just sweeping it all away, even the stuff with potential.
>>
>>146743652
>Jesus christ Wanda looks horrible. As in something from a horror story.
I was halfway through typing an explanation of it being her "villain costume" in Heroes Reborn that she just kept wearing afterwards, then I enlarged the picture and realized what you meant. Heroes Reborn started out with star artists but Jim Lee was just getting Literally Who? guys to draw some of the later books.
>>
>>146754789
The weird thing is that the other people don't actually look THAT bad, just 90s. Then you get to Wanda and the proportions, angles and everything just makes her look like a demon wearing a contorted flesh suit. I suppose She-Hulk looks fine because she's a hulk and wasn't meant to look "slim", and Janet is wearing armour so same thing there? It's kind of funny that Janet's armour is a bikini with two hands spreading her legs apart. Stellar design.

>Osborn made the cure for Cancer solely so he could have a way to kill Deadpool.
The length of time it would have taken to make something like that, he must have been working on it long the Dark Reign era where Deadpool was even on his radar as a threat. Presumably whatever he'd made wasn't enough of a workable cure to release and make money out of, but was something he could re-purpose to almost kill Deadpool.

>>
>>146715494
>The fact that he never got on medication or got therapy or noticed when he was getting into a manic state and became a danger to other people is the problem.

thats bullshit though. it wasnt like hank being unhinged was dropped on her. she knew his mind was gone and she still moved forward with marrying him. she could have sought out a means to help him, but he didnt. and its constantly thrown back in his face. very few characters in marvel constantly have their mistakes thrown back at them like hank does. spider man did a similar thing and that shit is forgotten. stark has done absolutely terrible things on and off of alcohol, and its never brought up. captain america was a dictator that rased vegas and noone cares. but that slap;? it was enough for stark to say that it was the turning point in the avengers not being a family anymore. its crazy to me that with the world being in the space where people with mental health issues get praised, hank is still the only marvel character burdened with past sins. they even allowed wanda to be forgiven before him.
>>
>>146766189
Maybe Hank and Wanda should try being friends, it'd be like a buddy cop dynamic of a scientist and a sorceress but both united by history of mental health, robot relations and being shat needlessly by writers and characters a like unfairly.
>>
>>146766120
he wont. he ultimately seeks validation from those that have hurt him. if he would have tried a little harder jan wouldnt have been hurt. if he wasnt a failure she wouldnt have ran into starks arms. if he wasnt such a trash human than ultron wouldnt have turned out wrong. to him, no matter what he does, he;ll never outrun those sins. what he needs to do(kinda like what they left him with at the end of avengers inc) is let him be a leader of a team of redeemers, villainous characters and fallen heroes that really want to change their ways and be better people.

i really want moonstone on this team. like she does it because its not as chaotic as the thunderbolts is, she plans on completing it and doing her thing, until she realizes that she likes being a hero
>>
>>146766413
I was gonna mention Moonstone funny enough since I needed to think of members who were no hopers/not as redeemable but still go along. If Rita was still around I'd have her in to since I think the idea of her and Hank interacting would be a lot of fun. Constrictor or a Serpent Society member I'd throw in since I'm biased towards them also.
>>
>>146766413
Aye could be a lot of fun overall in a Hank and Wanda teamup like moving science and magic threats, Grim Reaper facing them since has loose connection to both and maybe bonding over some past events even maybe thinking on times they've briefly met or things weren't around for

aye will be fun to have artist eventually also do his Yellowjacket design since thinking of having the sci-fi gun he has look like a stinger and for the mask to match this one somewhat in being more insect looking. Hank seems like the kind of guy who likes an aesthetic regardless how others feel, probably wouldn't hurt Janet is supportive but also doesn't want to make him feel bad about bug looking masks, treating insects as kindly as he treats people or being cordial to nearly every villain they face.

Another thing that I find freaky but neat about Pym Particles is the effect they have on the body, long exposure to the formula or the right procedure can cause Pym Particles to become part of the body and it will naturally produce them without the need of a suit or the old gas canisters. For example, how Cassie discovered that her repeated attempts to expose herself to Pym particles over the years resulted in her eventually gaining size changing powers.

>>146822027
>Was Remender forced to do major crossover event Axis or something?
He was, though I think he came up with concept for Axis as an arc for one of his books, but Marvel made him turn it into a big event. Plus, apparently much of the things he wrote for it were altered by editorial. It's essentially what made him quit Marvel.
>>146822127
They have it out for him because of the "Call me Alex" speech. Can't have mutants be more than their race after all.
>>
>>146822511
yeah he was more and more right about that ever since the current state of X-men/it's insufferable audience but also surprised since he wrote Magneto killing Red Skull without his powers which people have eaten up.

To be fair I think that the Future Foundation said that the Lang family bloodline was genetically inclined to manipulate Pym Particles on all 3 Axes

That's why Scott figured out the Strength enhancement
They even considered digging up Cassie's body to see if she had inadvertently used the Pym Particles to self resurrect as an Ionic being like Wonder Man

be better then being shat on by Bendis, could use the interaction with heroes who will take him somewhat seriously.

>"When fate brings an unlikely team of alien space explorers to earth in pursuit of the evil Baron Karza, they make a shocking discovery - on our world they are the size of action figures!" explains a Hasbro marketing kit. "The Micronauts are small heroes in a big world but the stakes are higher than ever as their miniaturized size presents dangerous obstacles at every turn. Fortunately, they forge an alliance with teenager Cameron Ruck, who will join them in their pursuit of justice. Although the Micronauts are small in stature, their bravery and adventurous spirits remain larger than life."

The Micronauts were based off the Japanese Microman line. It sounds like the new Micronauts cartoon had the same premise as the Microman anime from 1999.

Ant-Eater; a mad scientist in pursuit of his own amoral scientific goals, he uses biologically augmented and created insect servants, ranging from small to gigantic (he also likes to snack on the smaller ones). He has carved out a laboratory-fortress in Subterannea. Has an assistant working as his proxy on the surface, running a company, she is allied with the Ant-Eater because he continually augments her with new powers and she uses his discoveries to make herself rich.
Maybe an exile from the High Evolutionary's New Men, like the Hippo. Or just a human with a creepy elongated anteater like mask. perhaps an Egghead rebrand

>Let's dig up the corpse of Cassie just to check if she can come back with an Ionic body, in the name of science.
Gruesome idea but it has potential of working out, maybe with a touch of mad science. I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that Pym Particles in theory could potentially give people Wonder Man tier powers, it sounds cool but also overpowered. I'm more comfortable with that being a last resort Hail Mary, with the potential to kill the person that's harnessing that level of power, like how Scott said that performing the strength feat to beat Doom took a such a toll on his body that he could not use Pym Particles for months.

Though, the idea of an Ant-Man and Wasp energy forms that resembles their suits, composed of kirby krackle makes for a cool image in my head.

Marvel always had a hard time selling an Ant-Man solo title, for different reasons. Even back in the Silver Age it struggled for a while and added many things to reinvigorate the title like Wasp, or turning Hank into Giant-Man.

It seems there were plans for Scott when he first appeared but they never came to fruition and he was stuck as being a supporting character in other books, although sometimes he would be given a prominent role like back in the 90's with the Fantastic Four while Hank became an Avengers mainstay, suit or not. It probably was a combination of lack of confidence in the characters and at the same time not having writers interested in writing for them, while the ones that were interested in writing them were already using them but not in a solo. Buy Marvel's lack of confidence was for sure a big factor, like how didn't they believe an Ant-Man comic by Alan Moore would sell.

It means that it wasn't seen as profitable. Which means something was going wrong about producing toys for the show.
The characters aren't even recognizable. Especially compared to the Micronauts cartoon pitch from about a decade ago.

If a thread can be kept alive for days by a handful of autist, it means one or two things, either the board already is slow as fuck or antCHADS are dedicated bunch
>>
>>146838893
Thinking a long-lasting thread is a good thing is copium.
>>146838919
I support any comic book thread, even if I think little of the topic at hand. I necrobumped this thread from page 10 myself once or twice, and that was days ago. Someone's been doing it since then.
>>146838962
The board is not that slow. So it's maybe one or two Ant-Fags keeping it alive. The only other threads that stay up this long are the most bottom-of-the-barrel coom or drawfag bait threads. This thread is obviously not nearly as bad, but it's not a very good sign. Still, I'm glad it lasted as long as it did.
>>
>>146839038
I've been monitoring the thread for days and bumping when I can, problem is that I can't post or discuss in depth as much as I would like since I have a grueling 10 hour shift that leaves me exhausted by the end of the day. I wish I had more free time like before...

Anyway, ANTS is a way of life so, I'll always be posting when I can. Oh and this christmas eve/day i'll try to storytime the Marvel special, Ant-Man's Big Christmas and everyone is invited
