>one of the first ever major legacy characters in the history of the big two>still the best legacy character ever by farHow does Robin do it? Why can't other legacy character stack up
>>146825090Dick was replaced by Jason during the Bronze Age.Any changeover beyond that age would have resulted in fanboy backlash and Dick would have went back to Robin. Similar to have Adam forced Babs back to Batgirl
>>146825090Robin never should've been a legacy character, and Jason was proof of that. Tim should've been a completely new identity from the start, like how Steph was Spoiler instead of being shoehorned in as Batgirl (until 2009). Damian being Robin only worked because it was specifically Dickbats loaning HIS identity to his new sidekick, and failed when Dickbats stopped being a thing.
>>146825090Well it's a matter of just refusing to change. It kinda works but for characters like Tim it does him no favors to just be Robin. Plus the Teen Titans cartoon, the original, really pushed Robin into the modern pop culture. The thing is no one cares about Aqualad, Speedy, or Wonder Girl despite attempts to push them. It's really just a matter of Batman is popular but all these other characters just aren't.
STANDASIDE
>>146825592Remember when Tom King made him kill everyone at superhero rehab therapy for no reason?
>>146825090>first Robin to have an interesting personality and origin story>is hated by the readership for not being as boring as Dick or a stick in the mud like Bruce>replace him with an even more boring RobinWhy did boomers have such terrible taste?
>>146825610>Death Metal>"I'm a Barry who discovered that I enjoyed killing people. Now I'm the Fastest Killer Alive!">BANG BANG BANGMental breakdowns must be well-written, otherwise, it smells of the author shoehorning an arc. After all, can the character be blamed for divine (Earth-0) intervention?
>>146825878The problem is they wanted to make an impossible mystery & answered it in the worst way they could. All for no reason. I'll never understand those who blow smoke up Tom King's ass.
>>146825090Robin is just fun. Damian is the worst of the four but I'll still be there day fucking 1 to see him in live action because I want the Robin character to succeed.
>>146826067The Robin character already succeeded as far back as 1993 when Dick and Bruce were together in the cartoon. It's the spineless cucks at WB who won't let it happen.
>>146826125Blame Schumacher.
>>146826154And who hired Schumacher?
>>146825610He ruined that costume for ever (but with open hair) now. Which sucks because it’s distinct from Barry but it’s very Wally-ish.
>>146826226Touche.
This image is actually the perfect summation of a successful legacy character >using gunsHe is fundamentally different to the OG in a meaningful way that justifies his existence in the narrative instead of being a mini-me version of the OG>not looking like BatmanHe is visually different to the OG in a meaningful way that reflects his character instead of just looking like a mini-me version of the OG>not being called BatmanHe is his own character in every way including the name instead of trying to just be the OG including the nameAlmost every other legacy character fails at one of these standards minimum, most recent ones fail at all three
>>146825090Because he's not a "legacy character". He wasn't replacing anybody.
>>146826973earth 2 robin replaced batman
>>146826067>Damian is the worst of the four I have watched every Robin after Dick take the mantle and he's the best because he's a little bitch in terms of personality. He is what Quentin Quire failed to be, a competent asshole.
>>146825090
>>146826067Jason's supposed to be much taller than Dick.
>>146828174Dick is standing on a milk crate.
>>146826067I actually think Damien is the least weird and most organic Robin Batman's ever had since he'd his biological son and the mother is the daughter of one of Batman's oldest and greatest enemies with his whole agenda being creating the perfect heir.A single man adopting a child doesn't make any sense. That's generally not allowed since the adoption agencies would (correctly in most cases) assume pedo sex trafficking.Although All Star Batman & Robin was the closest to making sense of it by having that version of Batman be completely psychotic and abusive.
>>146828229Damien is a rape baby that was grown in a vat and trained to murder people. That’s significantly more weird than Bruce hiring really good lawyers
>>146828229>I actually think Damien is the least weird and most organic Robin Batman's ever had since he'd his biological son and the mother is the daughter of one of Batman's oldest and greatest enemies with his whole agenda being creating the perfect heir. The least weird and most organic one was Jason prior to getting murdered.

>>146825090Batman relation
>>146825830no idea but i love this guy
>>146825125According to Denny there *was* a massive amount of fanboy backlash.
>>146826067Damien should be Dick's sidekick. Make him Firebird to his Nightwing, damn it!
>>146830259Too kino for anyone to dare attempt.
>>146826067It's a shame that live action companies hate robin, they love the idea of batman being an edgy loner tortured by his past, they've done it alot as origin stories, he's a man determined to right the world. An ideal film of robin It would be of batmans effects on the world, effectivley the red hood storyline, but post nightfall with Dick confronting Jason. Put a scene that shows hope that some of the worst villains can be rehabilitated. Have the main conflict be weather his approach was right from the perspectives of the first 3 robins. Dont shy away from the fact the worlds got sci fi and magic stuff all over, It's just not that prominant aside from the resurection and mentions that dick led a team of metas as a normal person. wether it was wrong to bring kids into a brutal life or just to guide them after they made the choice to do it anyway.Jason was dead, but all lived longer and better lives because of it, even if the only other normie hero with a sidekick got his ward hooked on opioids.
>>146830443Dick sucks.
>>146830259>Make him Firebird to his Nightwing, damn it!Tom Drake is literally right there anon
>>146828229>A single man adopting a child doesn't make any sense. One could hit the character limit by making a list of all the things that don't make sense in Batman and still miss a few. But your hang-up could easily be chalked up to Bruce is filthy rich and one of the biggest employer in Gotham. Especially when the adoption status of the first three Robin is schrodinger canon. DC could easily bring back the notion of them being Bruce's wards at any given moment too, but that ship sailed long ago with Timmy Wayne-Drake. Now that shit is dead due to the irrelevancy of the character, the biggest obstacle to that is DC still pushing for Damian the superior blood Wayne, and the batfamfags who can't enjoy their enth family sitcom if Batman and Robins aren't very literally father and sons there.
>>146825830>>146830161Gay Jasonfags appeared
>>146830632you suck Dick
>>146831664You suck cock and lick anus.
>>146825830Did people actually hate Jason or did they just not like Dick being replaced?
>>146828229DETECTIVE
>>146826125It's Nolan and Goyer who started the "hell no, no Robin" backlash for live-action. Supposedly the reason The Batman wound up using Batgirl and then later Robin was because those were mandates from WB higher-ups to have them appear in Bat-animation since nobody was using them in live-action. That wound up being part of the writing on the wall that Teen Titans had to go, since Robin couldn't be in two things at once.
>>146825090i wish this was real.
>>146832442Some from column A, some from column B. Same goes for those who mourned him, some knew it was Jason and others thought it was the first Robin and didn't know of Nightwing.
>>146829733Lots of characters have Batman relations
>>146831099What?
>>146832442both
>>146832442According to the confessions you can find on internet, they mostly wanted to see if DC would go through with their advertizing and kill the Robin out of Batman and Robin. Petty nerds throwing a fuss are a given but how many people who either voted to kill or to save Robin didn't knew a single thing about Jason, Dick, or even read Batman.
>>146832442The latter leads to the former.
