Hello /co/,Probably my last storytime before Christmas, so hopefully someone enjoys. Not really a scanlation this time, all I did was transcribe the English translation from the kickstarter into a French digital rip, made a scant few changes when the French was obviously wrong but didn't really check it otherwise. This is the most recent volume of The Invisible Cities or The Obscure Cities or even Cities of the Fantastic, depending on which translations you've read over the years. To be brutally honest, I find this one to be the worst of the series by some margin. It's barely a comic book, mostly it's just a thin recap of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Mysterious Island, with a little bit tacked on to link it to the Cities. Then a bunch of illustrations Schuiten did for another Verne book and some background info on Verne. But at least Schuiten's art is nice as always.I'm also more inclined to be harsh on this volume because I'm still salty about the shitty kickstarter. Delayed, with ridiculous shipping charges for us Yuros since the guy thought it was a good idea to get things printed in Europe, send everything to the US and then finally back to the euro customers. Only to find now I can buy it in my LCS for much cheaper.
What are your favourite Obscure Cities volumes? I love Schuiten's black and white work, so probably The Tower or The Theory of the Grain of Sand.
Beautiful images still.
This is the most comic-like it gets for this book.
I'll probably change this, it's obviously the first chapter of 20,000 Leagues... but I don't recall any translation I've seen titling the chapter "an elusive pitfall", need to double-check.
oops, accidentally put iI there.Apparently this story of the lost manuscript was nothing but a marketing ploy and it was known about all along.

This page was actually blank in the French version. For some reason the English version inserts this, from the journalist Nellie Bly who decided to make Around the World in Eighty Days a reality as a newspaper feature. She did it in about 72 days, which was a world record that only stood for a couple of months.

Absolutely fantastic. Thank you, OP
>>146831016neat! thanks as always OP.>The Mysterious IslandI'll never forget reading this as a kid and getting to the part captain nemo appears, I didn't know then it was a sequel to 20.000 leagues to I was absolutely flabbergasted.
Kinda disappointed that it isn't a proper comic.
It's just a picture book, not a comic/BD.Well, I guess still thank you, OP.
