Vault of the Spring Maiden

1/2: Hazel

Heads up, probably not gonna post tomorrow, for obvious reasons. So I'll say it now. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Another terrible episode.

Let's start with Hazel. He was one of my favorite characters. I've always loved the "strong silent type" characters. He never said much, but everything he said carried so much wait and impact. The first time I watched this, I kept wondering: "What makes a man like this side with the ultimate evil? He must have a really good motivation."... NOPE. My sister died, so I'm gonna side with the ultimate evil hellbent on destroying humanity, and created the monsters who probably killed her in the first place. This completely killed his character for me. He went from the character I was the most interested in. To a character who I don't give a single fuck about. Great job writers. Although, I do REALLY like his fighting style. It's very unique.

2/2: The vault

I actually liked the vault scene. I wish Vernal was more developed. But I like how she's just admiring the vault. It's a humanizing scene. Even if only a little bit. I like the twist too. The mask was a great way of hiding that Raven was the maiden.

Also, why the fuck is NOONE chasing them down the vault? Guys, the world ending mcguffin is down there. Maybe you should stop them?

So, what's going on with this show? I heard some Weeb American company bought the rights last time I checked. Are the original writers and artists going to be involved again? Or are they starting from scratch and doing a complete reboot anime style?

Can't believe I missed yesterday's thread. I refreshed that catalog page a few times, but must have just missed it. Luckily, I shared most of your thoughts and don't have much more to add. And I agree with what you said, Cinder and her "who are you again?" line. That was my favorite moment episode.

In any case, Merry Christmas! What an eventful couple of episodes for the holidays.

>"She was only a child! She wasn't ready!"

Feels like this episode really doubled down on the Ominous Ozpin vibe. Hazel blames him for recruiting his sister to Beacon, which eventually led to her death. It's a brief moment, but Ozpin seems to brush it aside, even saying "Hazel hold me responsible" without mentioning any guilt he might have himself.

I HATED the action in these episodes. I'm not even talking about it not being as good as the fights from volume 1 and 2. I've already accepted that we'll never reach those highs without Monty. But just from a neutral point of view, it's so annoying they keep pausing the fight scenes so characters can talk to each other or look around the room or give a reaction shot. Just show the action! And they keep jumping between the fight scenes and the dialogue scenes. This is just a basic editing error; totally destroying the pacing.

Agree with this too. It's kind of funny, but also really annoying, that one of the first villains who we finally get a backstory/motivation for, and it's just one of the most contrived things ever.

My thoughts are kind of scattered right now, if that all seems a bit loose. I'm about to make dinner for tonight, so trying to get all this down before the thread gets archived like yesterday. No worries about not posting tomorrow OP, and once again, Merry Christmas!

It was acquired by Viz Media. Not much is really known other than that. I think it might have been confirmed a while ago that they were going to go ahead with volume 4. I imagine they would keep whatever cast and crew they could, although I don't know what kind of animation the company will go with. Obviously RT animation doesn't exist anymore, so Viz will have to handle all that on their own.

>go ahead with volume 4.

I'm tarded. I've written volume 4 so many times in these threads my brain short circuited. I meant volume 10.
