my Christmas wish was for this general to die. I guess I wasn't good enough this year...
>>146896326>TQEvery resistance cell has a slightly different way of celebrating, but most of them do a White Elephant gift exchange. Julian would be latching onto the family Christmas celebration of the family living with him, but he's mostly a miserable old bum on Christmas cause he's so angry at everything. "Christmas is just a manifestation of capitalism leeching off of christianity" bla bla bla>TCPic related, kinda. It's the only Christmas art I did for my comic.>TQ2Wonderful, my family got me presents relevant to my future plans, and I got way more cash than usual.
>>146896704Been absolutely pumping out work on my comic recently. Usually I struggle to make 1 page a week and I've been popping out multiple daily for about a week now. I WILL finish issue 4 before the end of may 2025!
>TQThey're all off work because children don't have nightmares during Christmas. The vibes are too powerful.
bump. These threads absolutely died for a while and I was happy cause it meant the drama and bullshit was gone, truly this is a shite community. But I think we can build a new community from the ground up if we can keep the damn threads alive.
>>146897674I'd love to keep them alive with actual content, but making art is so slow and I don't just want to talk about something I'm working on, I want to show it
I have drawn, colored, and lettered six strips so far. Looking to start posting this on a website later in 2025, most likely. Need a plan for promoting it
>>146897674Agreed, but starting a thread on Christmas is just asking for it to die on page 10 with 7 replies.
>>146896326There's been a fewhttps://tapas.io/episode/2394196https://tapas.io/episode/2724133

>>146898346Decided to make some info/stat sheets on characters in my comic. Mainly cause I worry I don't convey some shit well enough DESU
>>146898867replied to the wrong post. Sorry
>>146896326>how's your webcomic?
>>146896326Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas! Let's hope that the final days of 2024 will be good and 2025 will be a GMI year! Here's a special Christmas gift from Rooted Together:https://tapas.io/episode/3392461>TQJustin and Wietse would probably visit the church in the morning, then celebrate with family members in the village. Vivian... well, for what she did, she may not celebrate Christmas for a bit.>TCMaybe later, I have much other things to focus on.>BQPretty alright. Got some gifts and no trouble otherwise.
HERE: https://tapas.io/episode/3388905
No comics until January 2025. Might put them on other webcomic hosting sites as well. Tapas idk you guys have any recommendations. Anyway here
>>146898210Agree, it was a bit too hopeful for OP despite his (very) good intentions. Will bump anyway as I want to contribute later.
>>146900619If your comic is mostly vertical, then it's a reasonably decent place for just storing a comic. You won't get much interaction without effort. If you want horizontal comics, then it'll be a pain in the butt. Also if you want to make money from it, of course.
>>146900719Yeah my Comics follow the traditional vertical route. Horizontal is just lazy imo
>>146896326>Draw your character celebrating ChristmasI made a Christmas drawing of my comic characters. I'll post it later. I'm on the toilet right now.
Bump
(You)Elevator pitch your webcomicNow
>>146896326bump
>>146901232Damn he's really shiting
Reached page 71. Almost time for several pages of fight scenes.
My comic is published in periodic volumes rather than the "page-a-day" format a lot of other webcomics follow. I've been busy with IRL stuff lately and haven't had much time to work on it, but I've set a goal for myself to draw at least 2 panels a day. So far I think that's been working out, and I do more than that whenever I can.Despite the slow updates, it's somehow accumulated a sizable fanbase over this past year. That worries me a bit because I'm afraid of my comic becoming a massive shitshow like Homestuck. But maybe I'm worrying too much... we'll see.>TQIn the timeframe of my comic it's still early spring, so no celebrations yet. Maybe next year I'll do something Christmas-related with them.>TCI really wanted to, but I've been sick and haven't been able to draw much.
>>146896326>Draw your character celebrating Christmasim poking my head into the thread again as i did a christmas card style one this year>>146902285I hate summarising my own stuff but here's one I've used before:9 years ago the leader of Supers United was murdered, he also happened to be Raccoon Girls father. While she might not have inherited any powers, she inherited his problems.
>>146904618i think sometimes long pauses between updates make people more hungry for content, but its a delicate balance but you sound like youre doing good. With fanbases though there isnt really much you can do if they become cringe, its at the end of the day people still believing in your comic so id try not to worry
>>146904658You make some good points. I guess I'm mainly just afraid of its fanbase being full of negativity and hate. But like you said, it's not really something I can control, lol.Right now, I'm just grateful that: 1. There are people that actually enjoy reading my comic, and 2. They've all been supportive and polite so far. This is my first webcomic, and before this I had never posted my art or original characters online at ALL. Getting lucky like this is surprising since I've never had an internet presence before.
>>146904944Yeah i get the negativity thing, ive thankfully not encountered much myself but ive been at it for ages and not managed to really gain many fans outside of my longtime readers, so youve managed to achieve what a lot of others dont. So best of luck to you anon, whats your comic if you dont mind sharing?
>>146905198I'm a bit hestitant to share it here since I'm a shy autist and personally don't think it's very good.
>>146905514we're all autists here. but don't let your fear stop you from shilling though, its really the only way to spread webcomics
>>146905514Just share it, anon. This is 4chan of all places. We're all autists who make art we don't think are good.
I’ve been kinda distracted with the 3d printer I got for Christmas so webcomic progress is slow. Gonna print this as soon as I get filament
opinions?
>>146906581I don't recognize alot of these. There's also Fables, relatively new and I tried it for a bit, but found it fairly redundant if you're already on Comicfury/ NewGrounds etc
>>146906581Globalcomix seems ok. reminds me of Mangaplus. Tapas and Webtoons are really similar. they are both Korean though right?Comic Fury is often highly regarded around 4chin. The site looks a little sloppy though.Deviantart isn't really a good platform for comics IMO. more for meme art and AI slop.I haven't looked at the other sites.
One of these days...
>>146907888Why not today?
>>146906581why are half these logos hand drawn and made up?
>>146906581Topwebcomics isn't even an actual hosting site, is it? Its more just like a list with links to other comics/sites, and then they're ranked through votes.Places like DA were never good for comics.
Winter intermission.https://tapas.io/episode/3389681https://tapas.io/rss/series/102196
>>146899284lol
>>146906781>Comic Fury is often highly regarded around 4chin.I see this opinion by anons all the time and frankly for the life of me I cannot understand why. I've uploaded my comic to what has to be quite possibly 10 different sites now and none of them has been such a complete management/uploading/navigation nightmarish slog as Comicfury. Take GlobalComix as conparison for example; anything CF tries to do GC does better in spades. I'm not even trying to say GC is the GOAT, its just that CF is that horrible to deal with. I really don't get why so many anons love that site. Am I missing a secret part of the website or something???
>>146910993it has sovl I guess

>>146910993It's a pain in the ass, but it's highly customizable and retains an "old internet" feeling.

>>146910993>I see this opinion by anons all the time and frankly for the life of me I cannot understand why.DOUBLEPAGESPREADSFreedom of format above all else.
>tfw you’re plotting out your webcomic only to realize half way in that this would make way more sense in an interactive medium than a webcomic.
>>146915098Different routes, create your own adventure? Start by drawing your comic along the basic plotline. Then you can draw extra pages for when the comic branches out into alternate routes. Let the reader choose what path to follow with appropriate links. You can of course fuck everything and just make a VN, but you don't have to.
>>146915380making a VN is much more difficult than making a comic
>>146915643I'm not entirely convinced. With a comic, a properly made comic, you have to draw the characters over and over and over again plus a background that is changing depending on who is depicted, what they are doing, what angle is said action portrayed, etc. Then there's the meta about the panels themselves and whether the paneling is interesting, if anything pops out from the panel for a layered effect, etc etc etc...... whereas with a visual novel you do draw the characters and backgrounds but you only have to do the various reactions and generic backgrounds and then they can all be recycled as many times as needed. The only real difficulty is just writing all the dialogue and doing the music (and there is already royalty free music if you don't want to do it yourself or you can always hire a musician if you're actually serious about making a tidy amount of money as a real commercial product).
>>146915098I get that feeling all the time, I actually thought about this with multiple ideas I've had over the years- particularly with making a RPG maker game. Coding is no joke though, especially if you want to do something actually interesting that's more than just walking around. There's just so many formats that you could execute a story with that it's hard to choose and in the end they all take a fair amount of planning and effort.
what program do you use? I tried to get into krita because it's le professional or something but keep getting filtered by stuff. Am using firealpaca ever since I started drawing but I have a feeling that it has CCP spying embedded
>>146916239Why not just buy CSP when its on massive sale the two times a year they do it? Buy it once and get it over with.
>>146916262but I'm a penny pinching miser, I can't do that!!!
Friday night. Why are you here? What are you working on? What are you reading?
>>146896326Is tumblr a halfway decent platform for uploading stuff these days?
>>146918116I thought everyone abandoned Tumblr years ago.
>>146896326>What are your webcomic characters doing to celebrate the festivities?Still making sure the souls leave for good. Think in a freelance job, except you can get killed for real.>How's Your Christmas?Quite fine. I got the money for the tattoo I have the design to.
>>146918019>Why are you here?Taking a break in between drawing panels for my comic.>What are you working on?My comic. Multiple characters interacting with one another in the same panel along with semi-detailed background is a bitch at times and I need a mental break.>What are you reading?Nothing right now.
>>146916041Depends on the comic, I’ve been recycling the same BG’s with modest edits since I’m just having my characters back and fourth for a skit. Personally I prefer dynamic Backgrounds, but most Manga/comics don’t even have BG’s at all when it’s just dialog.>>146910993Add low activity to the list of cons that ComicFury has. I began posting my stuff simultaneously on Reddit, iFunny, and Webtoon and all three sites had mountains more traffic and interaction then ComicFury. Social Media comics in general have more growth potential. Unless your making a Pokemon /Gay Furry Fanfic don’t expect much from ComicFury
>>146919305>Reddit, iFunny, and WebtoonI'd sooner fucking shoot myself>Pokemon /Gay Furry FanficOh wait, that is my comic...
>>146920327Imagine the braps...
>>146919737>I'd sooner fucking shoot myselfnot much of a people person eh? part and parcel for 4chan I guess
>>146916125You see, I think coding is just standardized in a way that is unapproachable to “right-brained” people (using the term colloquially), or at least that was my experience. I couldn’t tell you how, or why (besides sobering up and leaving alcohol behind), but I had an epiphany, an almost transcendental experience, where, through the process of thinking and rethinking the very foundations of reality itself, I suddenly…. Understood. I understood what math meant, just from a different perspective. Suddenly coding wasn’t impenetrable, it was a game! Math isn’t about calculation, it’s a puzzle, and I love puzzles! I’m not sure I’m prepared to go into detail about what I did to make that change, because it involves a lot of what most people consider “hippie bullshit” Onsider woo woo spiritual bullshit, but if I can leverage my experiences to help others out of their artistic or intellectual funks, I’ll do it. I got out of that pit, and so can anyone, and I believe that with all my heart.
>>146920327Is that a mask on her face, or is she just barefaced?
>>146920327I remember you, forgot your name but nice to see someone familiar
>>146920896Now that I think about it I said I didn’t know how I got there, but I do, and it involved a lot of community building and self-reflection.
>>146898169not at all for the entirety of the year. I think I finished like 3 piecesworst part is I work with illustration, I have absolutely no idea how I've managed to keep myself fed this year

>>146896326i've been tryin' out a more loose-and-angular style with my webcomicwhaddya think of it sofar?
>>146902285This guy wanders the desert in search of a mythical city, Cero City. It's kinda like atlantis in that most people dont believe it really exists. It's said to hold magic and adventure, and when he gets there there IS magic and there ARE crazy creatures and high tech gadgets, but its' all being controlled and repressed by a fascist dictatorship. All of their magic and potential is being restricted. So he joins the resistance to take them down.
