Every resistance cell has a slightly different way of celebrating, but most of them do a White Elephant gift exchange. Julian would be latching onto the family Christmas celebration of the family living with him, but he's mostly a miserable old bum on Christmas cause he's so angry at everything. "Christmas is just a manifestation of capitalism leeching off of christianity" bla bla bla

Pic related, kinda. It's the only Christmas art I did for my comic.

They're all off work because children don't have nightmares during Christmas. The vibes are too powerful.

I'd love to keep them alive with actual content, but making art is so slow and I don't just want to talk about something I'm working on, I want to show it

I have drawn, colored, and lettered six strips so far. Looking to start posting this on a website later in 2025, most likely. Need a plan for promoting it

If your comic is mostly vertical, then it's a reasonably decent place for just storing a comic. You won't get much interaction without effort.
If you want horizontal comics, then it'll be a pain in the butt. Also if you want to make money from it, of course.

My comic is published in periodic volumes rather than the "page-a-day" format a lot of other webcomics follow. I've been busy with IRL stuff lately and haven't had much time to work on it, but I've set a goal for myself to draw at least 2 panels a day. So far I think that's been working out, and I do more than that whenever I can.
Despite the slow updates, it's somehow accumulated a sizable fanbase over this past year. That worries me a bit because I'm afraid of my comic becoming a massive shitshow like Homestuck. But maybe I'm worrying too much... we'll see.
>TQ
In the timeframe of my comic it's still early spring, so no celebrations yet. Maybe next year I'll do something Christmas-related with them.

I hate summarising my own stuff but here's one I've used before:
9 years ago the leader of Supers United was murdered, he also happened to be Raccoon Girls father. While she might not have inherited any powers, she inherited his problems.
>>
>>146904618
i think sometimes long pauses between updates make people more hungry for content, but its a delicate balance but you sound like youre doing good. With fanbases though there isnt really much you can do if they become cringe, its at the end of the day people still believing in your comic so id try not to worry
>>
>>146904658
You make some good points. I guess I'm mainly just afraid of its fanbase being full of negativity and hate. But like you said, it's not really something I can control, lol.
Right now, I'm just grateful that: 1. There are people that actually enjoy reading my comic, and 2. They've all been supportive and polite so far.
This is my first webcomic, and before this I had never posted my art or original characters online at ALL. Getting lucky like this is surprising since I've never had an internet presence before.
>>
>>146904944
Yeah i get the negativity thing, ive thankfully not encountered much myself but ive been at it for ages and not managed to really gain many fans outside of my longtime readers, so youve managed to achieve what a lot of others dont. I see this opinion by anons all the time and frankly for the life of me I cannot understand why. I've uploaded my comic to what has to be quite possibly 10 different sites now and none of them has been such a complete management/uploading/navigation nightmarish slog as Comicfury. Take GlobalComix as conparison for example; anything CF tries to do GC does better in spades. I'm not even trying to say GC is the GOAT, its just that CF is that horrible to deal with. I really don't get why so many anons love that site. Am I missing a secret part of the website or something???

>tfw you’re plotting out your webcomic only to realize half way in that this would make way more sense in an interactive medium than a webcomic.
>>
>>146915098
Different routes, create your own adventure? Start by drawing your comic along the basic plotline.
Then you can draw extra pages for when the comic branches out into alternate routes. Let the reader choose what path to follow with appropriate links.
You can of course fuck everything and just make a VN, but you don't have to.
>>
>>146915380
making a VN is much more difficult than making a comic
>>
>>146915643
I'm not entirely convinced. With a comic, a properly made comic, you have to draw the characters over and over and over again plus a background that is changing depending on who is depicted, what they are doing, what angle is said action portrayed, etc. Then there's the meta about the panels themselves and whether the paneling is interesting, if anything pops out from the panel for a layered effect, etc etc etc.
..... whereas with a visual novel you do draw the characters and backgrounds but you only have to do the various reactions and generic backgrounds and then they can all be recycled as many times as needed. The only real difficulty is just writing all the dialogue and doing the music (and there is already royalty free music if you don't want to do it yourself or you can always hire a musician if you're actually serious about making a tidy amount of money as a real commercial product).

I get that feeling all the time, I actually thought about this with multiple ideas I've had over the years- particularly with making a RPG maker game. Coding is no joke though, especially if you want to do something actually interesting that's more than just walking around. There's just so many formats that you could execute a story with that it's hard to choose and in the end they all take a fair amount of planning and effort.
>>

Depends on the comic, I’ve been recycling the same BG’s with modest edits since I’m just having my characters back and fourth for a skit. Personally I prefer dynamic Backgrounds, but most Manga/comics don’t even have BG’s at all when it’s just dialog.

Add low activity to the list of cons that ComicFury has. You see, I think coding is just standardized in a way that is unapproachable to “right-brained” people (using the term colloquially), or at least that was my experience.

I couldn’t tell you how, or why (besides sobering up and leaving alcohol behind), but I had an epiphany, an almost transcendental experience, where, through the process of thinking and rethinking the very foundations of reality itself, I suddenly…. Understood. I understood what math meant, just from a different perspective. Suddenly coding wasn’t impenetrable, it was a game! Math isn’t about calculation, it’s a puzzle, and I love puzzles!

I’m not sure I’m prepared to go into detail about what I did to make that change, because it involves a lot of what most people consider “hippie bullshit” Onsider woo woo spiritual bullshit, but if I can leverage my experiences to help others out of their artistic or intellectual funks, I’ll do it. I got out of that pit, and so can anyone, and I believe that with all my heart.

All of their magic and potential is being restricted. So he joins the resistance to take them down.

>>146922275
I just started my own, I make the posts I can in other subreddits. But that’s mostly just to drag new eyes to mine. Individually, all the other subreddits suck. The trick is to post where you can, cross post from your own. r/comics is the biggest and has the most freedom. Over time, reddit’s algorithm starts recommending your entire subreddit to random people.

Don’t get me wrong, everything that sucks about reddit is still true. But it’s an option if you have a high bullshit tolerance. And I mean c’mon, you kind of have to if you want to make comics.

>r/comics is the biggest and has the most freedom.
Forgive me for asking further questions - I almost never do any reddit stuff so I'm a complete newbie to this. When you say r/comics is the most friendly, how do you go about posting there since a longer form comic with actual plot is going to be way longer than a single page comic? I'm concerned about posting something when each chapter of mine is something like 50 pages. I think I'm a bit screwed lol.
>>
>>146915643
It really isn't
>>146923816
The first one will always be shit anon, it's how you learn
>>
>>146924786
Not that anon but I've been using reddit more for advertising my stuff and found that if you actually want to get readers then you need to treat places like r/comics as secondary. What you need to look for are subreddits that are related to your comic like r/fantasy, r/imaginarysoldiers and such cause those places have people who will actually want to follow your comic especially a long form.

The comic places are full of other creators trying to advertise their stuff and mostly only other creators are seeing it that are trying to do the same.
>>
>>146924786
NTA, obviously, but I'm familiar with /r/comics. The first thing about /r/comics is that it's almost entirely people posting their own material, a trait it shares with /r/webcomics and other comic subreddits. And because this is Reddit, quality is loooooooooowwwwwww. Which is good news for creators, because if you have even the bare minimum of skill you will immediately stand out. /r/comics simply has no descriptor other than being about comics, so no-one can bitch about your stuff not fitting in. Lastly, long form comics are the minority, but they are posted there. People just post single pages, with a page number attached. Presumably you can check out the comic from there, such as in this case going to the comic's own subreddit, where presumably most posts will be pages, or to just follow it to its own website.

Wait. Wait wait wait. You can post stuff like comics and the like (assuming the subject matter is somewhat related) to those subreddits? They're not gonna just simply ban you on sight for doing that? Huh, fascinating.
>>
>>146925129
Think of it like this: You'll have a bunch of first tries. You're not just making one comic, you're making a bunch of them.
Eventually you'll throw some shit on the page and it'll be cool as fuck
>>
>>146925145
Sure, just read the rules but most art-related subreddits will allow comics on them. I've been posting mine on a few of them and it's been a good boost to views and followers for it. The non-creator subreddit browsers will comment and ask questions so that's good too.
