What went so wrong?
People who expected a typical 00s 3D movie were weirded out by the "heavy" themes Astroboy hasPeople who were already fans of Astroboy hated the few changes they madeOne Piece only really escaped this adaptation curse because One Piece's weirdness was popular with normies from memes for a while so even Stacy and Chad knew they were gonna see weird shit

>released on March 2007This is such a 2005/2006 moviehttps://youtu.be/jDHvHlAY05U?si=y5SS-3NzbgcjLN3l
Cora is a cute
John Ottman' score in this scene is great
2007 footage of the Astro Boy movie. Very different to what we got in 2009https://youtu.be/-50u747wtfI?si=hzIQxg7Xl_7xIPG5
TMNT had the same director from start to finish (Kevin Munroe)Astro Boy is a different story. It was being directed at first by Colin Brady, who wanted to take the project in a dark direction. However, the studio then decided that they wanted something more soft, so they fired Brady and replaced him with David Bowers (one of the directors of Flushed Away). It was Bowers who turned the project into something comedic and not very dark.

>>146900896We get it Imagischizo, you're mad their Gatchaman movie didn't happen and you blame Kathleen Kennedy for that too. You're everywhere these days.
>>146900992>the few changes they madeFew changes? Americanized (by a shitty Chinese studio) fucking sucked and got rid of all the soul in the series. It was completely toothless, even the Tobio death scene was sanitized which was the only bit of edge it had left.
Kino
>>146901908He was born on 1946, meaning that he was in his early 60s when doing screenplay writing on Astro Boy
>>146902288That explains why is sucked
It needed more titties.
Astro Boy has one hell of a cast
>>146900896No one cares about the script writers or the cast. Shit sucked. It's an insult to Astro Boy, easily the worst in the franchise and I'm glad the chink studio folded they were awful.
>>146903297>easily the worst in the franchiseNo, that would be the PS2 exclusive created by the Sega division responsible for the Space Channel 5 games
>Ratchet & Clank movie from 2016 had the same director from TMNT 2007Jeez, Kevin Munroe. What happened here? TMNT isn't amazing, but it's much better than this.
>>146900896why so obsessed?
>I'm Sparx, the brains>and i'm Robotsky, the muscle>and i'm Mike the Fridge.... I'm the fridge
I like how Cora cares for the little girl in the gladiator fight scene
>>146903652
>Hey, Cora, did you bring me back something?>The perfect gift for a sweet little girl>Thanks!>Be careful
They should've explained why she ran away from her parents
>>146904089
>>146903357Americanized Astro Boy is still worse
>You may not be Toby, but you're still my son>DadI don't think Tezuka would've approved of this change
You'd think that Tenma would scream at Toby to run to the back of the room or something
>Astro, I think you've finally found your place in the world. You're a hero. A robot with the heart of a lion>And everyone finally knows it
>directed by David Bowers>story by David Bowers>screenplay by Timothy Harris and David BowersIf you think that Astro Boy turned out a bad movie, then put the blame on Bowers and Harris
>>146905389I'd love to know which were Harris' contributions to the script of Space Jam
>>146903143Good lord why is this bitch so stacked
>>146905389>based on the screenplay by Timothy Hyde Harris and David Bowers
I understand thinking that Twins is shit, but Kindergarten Cop and Space Jam? No way. Space Jam is one of my favorite movies ever.
>>146905389its not really "bad" its just bland and with the benefit of hindsight its more unique and interesting
>>146905620Twins has its momentshttps://youtu.be/imx85wGAtEI?si=viIiv_7V5lyDHcmS
>>146905620Funny enough same here but with Kindergarten Cop. I guess I just really agree with these writers sensibilities lol
>>146905783>I'm really sorry it took so long>Don't worry about it>That exit on 65 wasn't clearly marked>Hold up, hold up right here>What, here?>Yeah>Thanks for the ride, Sherm. I appreciate it>It's Stan, Mike>Sorry>But that's all right, you can call me Sherm if you want to because I've followed your whole career and I think you're the greatest athlete that's ever lived>Stan! Stan. Stan. Stan... How do I get outta here? This door doesn't work>Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you it's a classic. It's a classic, but it's got a few peccadilloes. Hold on just a second>A few, huh? It's smoking too, man. You need to get that checkedYeah, there's something charming about this writing style
>>146905813hahaha I dont even remember this but youre right, just charming and relatable little moments
>Hello, son>Hello, sir>How was school?>Oh, great. Moustachio dropped a pop quiz on us, but I'm pretty sure I got 100%>That's good, son, very good, but I don't want you to become complacent. It's important to keep studying. Onward and upward, Toby>Sure, dad>....I'm aware I said I'd take you to that symposium on quantum mechanics, but I'm afraid I have to take a rain check again>You promised>I'm sorry, Toby, but it's unavoidable. President Stone has brought forward the unveiling of the Peacekeeper>The Peacekeeper? You've got to be kidding me>I never kid. Goodbye, son
>You ready to blow me away today, Tenma? To make my hair stand up, to knock my socks off?>Yes, yes, metaphorically speaking>Well, that's the spirit>Dr. Elefun is an esteemed colleague of mine, Mr. President. He may be resistant to having his discovery used for military purposes>Well, you leave Dr. Elefun to me
It sucks how Space Jam gets frequently mocked by critics. It's a good movie
>>146901545Huh, very interesting. Wonder what they were envisioning earlier on. I like the glow on his eyes.>>146903297Shut up. It was a good movie.
>>146906294Pure Luck is barely worth mentioning. It's just an american remake of the french comedy "La Chevre". The storyline and almost all of the jokes are recycled.
Cora is definitely one of the highlights of this movie
>Nu-uh. Finders keepers
