On the one hand, Peter would never be a nihilist. On the other hand, he's entirely right that yes, this entire storyline IS meaningless and is in fact so utterly meaningless that it is an absolute certainty his nihilism won't last for another issue or two.
So whatever. I'm complaining for nothing. Dull issue, the bulk of it just being what-if visions, and over in a flash. Hurrah for apathy.

Babbys first existential crisis. This is stupid, it feels so out of place for Peter. Specially knowing that everybody dies and are just hypothetical deaths

And he didn't need to hold that dumb sphere in order to experience the death of others. People around him had died since the Ditko years. And I'm not just talking about friends and family, all kind of people. Existential crisis and nihilism is a cheap way of doing a good and deep plot, and it's worse here since it doesn't makes sense for Peter
>Ugh why even try? Everything sucks, everyone dies
Spider-Man is THE Marvel character that means sacrifice, and this goes against those two statements. And since he can't die and all the deaths were meaningless, they needed 19 shallow pages just to make Peter an edgelord for one or two more issues. Oh, and this is a supervillain origin story
>being responsible for the deaths of billions just because you were a selfish prick
Real Spider-Man would never ever, this was just lite OMD

Talking for real, I used to think clones were OUT THERE, jumping the shark, in the end I realized it was still science, true to Spider-Man. Now though? demons, sins, deals with the devil, magic, hell, champions of death, multiverse, multiversal vampires and cuckoldry.
>>
>>147046487
It was jumping the shark. Looking bad it's easy to forgive the Clone Saga but it still introduced the cancerous idea that people besides Peter can be Spider-Man and we've never recovered.

>>
>>147046502
>idea that people besides Peter can be Spider-Man
Kind of true and also at the same time not in a weird way, Ben is literally Peter but blonde, also the Sensational suit makes it all worth it.
What you can blame the Clone Saga for it's the dip in sales and hate for how convoluted the story got that leads to Chapter One, that flops and leads to 2000 Ultimate that gives us Miles and you know the rest. So indirectly, yeah?
>>

Oh, and there's Mayday for an actual next generation of Spider-hero.
Really, what a retarded page.
>>
Feels wrong for an experienced Peter to simply give into nihilism like this, even after a magically-induced whistle-stop death tour. And then the other thing is, we all know this isn't even going to stick around or actually affect Spider-Man in any real way.

It feels strange to disagree with both the premise AND how the premise is executed. But I guess we're at the level where ASM writers just cannot do anything right.

Still, dying it's something we all have to pass through, but that doesn't mean we are destined to die in certain way!!

I mean, Peter saw people close to him die, but that doesn't mean they are going to die THAT WAY!! How many times we have seen in comics time travel in order to change some events? Death is always in our future, but that doesn't mean we can't pick the way we die.

Can Marvel not come up with anything original to do with her?

Gwen isn’t even a kid. She’s a college student.
>>
>>147046387
Nah. That would be the Beyond issue made by Gleason.

It was surprisingly good. Sad Marvel wouldn’t let him do anything with Spidey.
>>

I find it funny Spider Kid has a beam going through his chest while Gwen and MIles are just laying down on the ground.
>>
>>147050601
Considering Peter hasn't aged beyond his late twenties for years now, she might be his peer almost.

Why do I feel like this is the beginning of this demon woman starting to find Spider-Man interesting?
>>
>>147050475
Wait, Spider-Man dies in The Eight Deaths of Spider-Man?
>>
>>147050735
It would be, if the writer/editor were any decent, but unfortunately they're going to leave sexy demon lady to one side and instead keep Peter with [love interest nurse with no defining personality]
Honestly, if they're going to insist on dragging Spider-Man away from the world of grounded New York street crime and into the annoying, ill-fitting realms of magic and the multiverse, then I feel like the least they could do is give Peter a cool magic demoness gf
>>
What the fuck is so wrong with just writing Peter and Felicia do superhero shit together. FUCK Marvel
>>
>>147049481
How do you kill something that has no life?
>>
>>147050792
Apparently Beyond did so well that Lowe decided future new runs need to start off with the new writer headlining an off-the-wall story arc with co-writers so they can properly line up the actual run.

Since the 60's are eternally 15 years away, aunt May being 79 means she was only 64 when drawn as a mummy by Dikto.

She's raised Peter since he was a little boy. Even if he is a nephew, he is her son.
>>
>>147048081
Uncle Ben gives you that answer at the end of that issue.
>Are you happy?
That's really the only question you need to be asking yourself if you've already figured out that what you are doing is for the right reasons and is achieving progress according to the best of your ability without endangering/stagnating others. Y'know, in a nutshell he is talking about growing up. JMS writing this arc as part of Peter's birthday reinforces the celebratory aspect of the 500th issue while creating the perfect jumping off point. This is #1 while 400 is the 2nd best centennial issue followed by 300 and then 100, 200, 600, 800 (purely because it wrapped up Slott's garbage), 700, 900.

That remembers me that Peter is immune to Ghost Rider's penitence stare.

Well, a half of the Marvel is immune to it, nowadays, but, GR answers that is useless make suffer someone who already tortures himself about his faults.

Dunno, it looks like even much that Mephisto made OMD happen just for the hell of it.

Correct but he has had two birthdays since he was canonically said to be 28.

>>147054957
You know it doesn't work like that
>>
>>147055133
Sure, but if we're going by Marvel's mindset he might not even be 28 then. I think he's even called mid 20s by MJ during this arc or the last one, so he might actually have been aged down.

When was even the last time Peter has been shown to be getting some in said issue? Last one I recall was Bobbi being horny for Peter after fighting crime and calling him to sleep in her bed in later issues. Goodness that is sad to think about.
>>
>>147056016
Peter and MJ shared a bed a lot in Spencer's run but I don't recall a time where the explicitly fucked.
>>
>>147054408
I kinda hated how Kelly and the other BND writers involved handled this costume in ASM 637. Last Stand is the result of Peter killing 1 villain and going on a killing spree? Lame. 500 is more poignant and subtle and I'm biased against them but who cares. Last Stand Peter should just be Peter at the end of his career and gave in to killing only this one time to save somebody else because he can't move the same as he used to. Either a supervillain or a common crook could be the victim. Point is, police can bring him in now. Maybe his circumstances should be that he raised Mayday and Ben but perhaps listened to Punisher more as well as Wolverine and maybe the world fell under the influence of villains more. I don't know how you guys feel whether it should be the canon end or not. Probably not since it's a bit bleak and Pete's gone through enough. Spider-Verse having a story with an older Peter wearing this costume and repeating what he said in 500 except 616 helps him out a bit would be great. Or maybe wearing it for an arc could be cool to show Peter wanting to pay tribute.

Aunt May would outlast the heat death of the universe. Writing about a black man dying in a riot? Handle it with respect, or don't touch it. There's no way that lab accident is taking out Norman. I call shenanigans. And Felicia dying by falling? That's just plain weird.

All the better. Miles is a selfish entitled ingrate who thinks he DESERVES to be Spider-Man. Peter, Ben, and Kaine earned that, and learned to hate it. Let the little bastard grow to hate it, then maybe.
>>
>>147056477
Last Stand Pre OMD and Post BND would never be the same person because the latter is a result of a timeline change. The former was always married to MJ and died that way. The latter would never reach the same point or be the same person.

Peter and Felicia were banging while they were dating during the Wells run. They've had sex before so it's not a stretch to think they'd be doing that some more when they got back together for a bit.
