1/3: The outfits

I'll start with the RWBY girls.

Ruby: it's perfect, perfect. Down, to the last minute details. This is probably my favorite outfit so far. Yes, even more than her first one. I think it's a perfect balance of her previous 2 outfits.

Her first outfit was very conservative (I know that's not the right word but it's the only one I can think of right now). Pretty much every inch of her body was covered up, and her outfit didn't really show any of her figure. Although that's fine for volume 1-3 Ruby, Seeing as to how she's supposed to be super innocent and all.

Her second out was a bit too revealing for my taste. I don't think she looked like a whore or anything like that, just a bit too revealing for my taste. Although it does show her growing maturity and independence.

But this new outfit. It's perfect. The perfect balance between the innocence of the first outfit, with the maturity and independence of the second. A perfect mix of girlish cuteness, and womenly beauty.

Also, I like her anime protagonist her.

2/3: WBY

I hate them. GOD I hate them. They're just awful.

Yang's looks good. But I just don't don't think it fits her character well. She looks like a mechanic. It just doesn't reflect her personality well. Also, why does she have part of her pants unzipped? Why Is there even a zipper there in the first place?

Blake's looks great... in her concept art. But her actually model looks HORRENDOUS. Idk what went wrong. Some people here have been complaining about her short hair. "Short haired dyke", I think we're the specific words used. But I don't hate the idea. What I hate, is the fact her hair looks like a fucking mob. And again, why does she have a bunch of unnecessary zippers?

Weiss's outfit is bad in both concept and execution. You put Weiss, a character who's whole arc is about became less stuck up and snooty, in an elaborate princess dress. Great job. Not to mention it looks impractical as fuck. What's with all the belts? You can always tell when a character is designed by a millennial when you see a bunch of unnecessary belts and zippers.

Also, I can't be the only one who noticed Yang's boobs keep getting smaller and smaller, while Weiss's boobs keep getting bigger and bigger. I swear Weiss's tit's are bigger than Yang's now.

3/3: The episode

Ren, Nora and Qrow: They're fine. Not as good as their previous designs, but fine. Their volume 4-6 designs are still the best.

Jaune: All I have too say is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yModCU1OVHY

This episode felt more like an episode 1 then the actual episode 1. The way they cut to the chase, the new outfits, the fight scene, etc. Not saying the first ep was bad, just an observation.

Don't actually have much to say about it though. It's mostly just a showcase. A good showcase, but still just a showcase. It was nice to see actual huntsmen on an actual mission for the first time since volume 2.

Finally, I REALLY didn't like the weird lecture about racism between Weiss, Blake, and the dog Funaus. It felt like something straight out of a Marxist college textbook. It did not belong here. Also weird coming from a faunus who seems to be pretty high up on the ladder. Atlas should be the perfect chance to show us true discrimination of the Faunus. But so far all we get is a random drunk, and a very high ranking faunus who doesn't seem to have been discriminated against. Great job show, great job.

>"This society is set up for Faunus to be at the bottom, and humans are willing participants. They benefit from doing nothing to help us."

There's that clunky dialogue we all know so well. It's kind of funny actually. Last volume, when we met Jaune's gay sister, I thought it was kind of interesting how it captured cultural development in the US. From gay/lesbian characters not even being a thing that existed in the show, to Ilia's "subtle" crush on Blake, to the two married women with a baby. It's similar here. You kind of get the sense of how lib thinking evolved on minority issues, from a kind of blatant racism to a more "systemic" injustice that everyone is guilty of. The Ace Op basically just stops short of telling the human characters to check their privilege lmao. It's still as clunky and as botched as ever, but at least they're keeping up with the times. The cave setting could have even been a good metaphor. A cave that SDC abandoned after accidentally killing a bunch of underpaid Faunus workers. As the team ventures deeper into mine, it exposes what the SDC tried to keep buried. I can see it working... but they kind of just brush it aside pretty quickly to get to the Grimm fights. "I didn't come over here looking to solve systemic societal issues."

I'm still fond of Ruby's volume 1-3 outfit, but I do agree, she's got the best look out of all the new redesigns.

All the random zippers and belts on WBY was the first thing I noticed too lol. Yang's outfit bothers me the most. Why a random open flap on the leg? I think it's the asymmetry that bothers me the most. I didn't mind Blake's hair though, I think it looks better than Weiss' braid at least.

That's funny, I've been listening to Tally Hall lately

Here's better Weiss

I was thinking the same thing. When he said that I thought: "man, you can really tell this was written in 2019." It's the same shit as 2016, but under a more "intellectual" lenses. People won't take buzzfeed seriously, but they'll take a college "professor" seriously. Right?

Holy shit. That looks, SO much better. They should gone with this or something like it.
