We warned you to support original series and to stop circlejerking terrible IP slop like Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Gumball years after the fact, but you didn't listen. The same with Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 over at Disney.

nah, there was an era like this around the time of 6teen, total drama, and fanboy/chumchum if I'm recalling correctly.
>>
>>147106509
Nah, I was a teen around the time regular show came around. millenials were not the main audience
>>
>>147104978
What new shit has Cartoon Network made in recent years?
>>
>>147107066
When 6teen and Total Drama were airing, so was Samurai Jack, TMNT 2003, Foster's Home, Megas XLR, Ben 10, KND, and ATLA.

There was plenty of trash, but let's not pretend like quality cartoons were in short supply. There were more quality cartoons in the era of 6teen and Total Drama Island than there are cartoons in general coming out nowadays.

If it's of any consolation, Gumball was meant to launch around 2024/2025, only for it to be pushed back to 2025/2026. What has been revealed so far, after all those years? Just fragments of script for a single episode and titles for 27 eps. No promo clips, no test animation, nothing.

>>147107066
I would argue it's not even about quality. We barely get any cartoons(good or bad) at all.
>>
>>147107668

Please post evidence of quality drop.
And even if that were to be true, there is NOTHING to suggest that S7 is going to be an improvement over S6. You're giving way too much credit to those hacks.
>>
>>147107733
I think tawog has a production value that goes slightly beyond the usual cartoon show because of mainly because of its artstyle, although it's very plausible that this and the pandemic plus a movie in the work made development a little more lengthy than usual. I can't speak about improvement since I don't know anything about it, but for me personally I thought all gumball seasons where an improvement over the last, so I have at least a little bit of hope.
>>
>>147107771
>The more brainrot and meme faces each new season has, the better it is over the previous one
This fandom is as cooked as pokedrones.
>>
>>147107784
To be honest, for me gumball first season was just a mid and fairly cringe cartoon with interesting visual, then with the second season they started to fix things and shaping it better, and from the third season it becomes a really good show with episodes that not only are fun but actually interesting to watch. Surely each season is not perfect and has it's ups and downs but overall they managed to set a bar and keep it fairly steady trough all the next seasons. Things like meme faces never bothered me and I didn't really noticed any brainroot whatsoever, but my impression was actually that they knew what they where aiming for.
>>
>>147104966

>Gumball is the only positive side of this announcement
>Everything on this list has been on the tip of Cartoon Network's spear for well over a decade
>Meanwhile new talent and ideas (the thing CN needs to save it) is snuffed
Considering CN was just filing for bankruptcy and this is the first idea they have? Yeah, they deserve to die. Bringing in more of what killed your network instead of trying something new has to be the most tone deaf response I've seen in a while.
>>
>>147104966
Jesus fucking Christ can executives please just stop endlessly renewing shit.

The peak of CN, Nickelodeon, and Disney's popularity was when they were throwing money at new and exciting talent and ideas. Two-thirds of the series they tried bombed, but the third that didn't went on to become ridiculously successful with popularity spanning generations.

Maybe do that instead of just endlessly rebooting the same fucking shit over and over.
>>
>>147104966
So what's going on in Gumball that's so important to need a season+movie?
>>
>>147108285
Two things:
- The whole void plot about how their world would get flushed into oblivion as soon as it ends;
- Writers are still in the process of scraping the bottom of the barrel for unused mundane situations that can be turned into wacky, over the top shit by Gumball. We know parts of the plot for first episode of S7 and it's
>Gumball and Darwin want to eat healthy, but fast food industry has absolute monopoly on food production, so it's up to them to fight the system!
>>
Am I the only one who thinks Gumball needs to change or completely rework its structure? Because the only thing worth watching this show is about the void plot so if thats done whats the point? Honestly this show should be a plot driven show after season 7 and the movie are done because its confirmed this show isnt ending soon after those things are done or wrapped up.
>>
>>147104978
Don't worry, I'm not watching these either. Just waiting for everything to burn to the ground.
>>
>>147108780
I'd enjoy Gumball more if more focus were to go to secondary characters. Honestly, not every episode has to be Gumball-driven from start to finish. It would also make it easier for the show to stay fresh longer.

Not defending this slop but I highly doubt that all those nepobabbies from calarts would have any good ideas anyway. if anything the fact that CN is now forced to milk dry their only shows with any standing power proves how much of a failure these new creatives were although that's to be expected when you try to appeal to +30 loser millennials twitterfags rather than kids or spam them with TTGO slop for a whole decade, even RS and AT shit the bed hard midway through.

Quintel was at least trying to branch out with Close Enough. I didn't really like that show much since you could tell shitty Cali writers were trying to treat it like live action scripts with progressive shit always being tossed in, and a strange obsession with shitting on Josh for being caucasian, but at least JG tried to do something different. I feel the same way about him heading an adaption of that bitchy cunt lesbian webcomic they're doing for adult swim. I don't like it, but he's trying to do more than just spin his wheels and rely on one thing his whole life like so many others want to do.

So it's sad to see not just after treating RS like shit towards its end, but that CN also dragged him back to RS which had a definitive ending just for some more "pre-finale episode" spinoff gimmick CN just randomly decided to milk like with AT. Let Quintel do his own stuff.

Not at all, the only modern cartoon worth a shit is the amazing world of gumball. You'd have to go all the way back to shit like Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexters Lab, Cow n Chicken, Courage the cowardly dog etc to get a good cartoon.

>>
They literally cannot tell any more stories with Steven Universe. Future was 10 episodes straight the writers showing us that everything has been solved and will likely remain solved forever.
>>
>>147110250
Alex? Sure, but that mainly was a "men are perverted scum" problem than randomly shitting on white guys. Like the episode where he writes erotica but the women vomit unless they think it's written by a woman who is exploring her sexuality.

Unless you mean Randy, the "beer gut" guy who is also just kinda like a redneck stereotype but the only thing annoying about him is the overly mamma's boy gimmick. At least you're meant to care when that comes up, since he worries about Pearle dying on duty or feeling like he's not bringing any value to anyone else.

Josh and Alex were both handled in an annoying way. They wanted to do a bunch of funny sex jokes but also be semi-"um actually" about it by using him as an example of men being loser sex freaks who also love emasculation for some reason. Josh's problem was mostly "and Josh is white..." jokes. Though his family also mocks him for Emily being the breadwinner and him basically just helping pay cable bills in the snail episode which was sad.

Anything on the preschool Fosters show and PPG reboot bell by Craig?
>>
>>147104966
The thing is, people don't want this for other properties. AT didn't need a magical girl self-insert girlfailure power fantasy that's just "isn't tumblr fanfiction AWESOME?! what if simon met a version of himself who had GAY THOUGHTS about kissing his prime universe version?! GOD i love GAY SEX! coffee shop AU!!!" and everyone thinks Regular Show's finale literally saved the show from mediocrity and should not continue. Gumball only gets a pass because it was intentionally gearing up for a finale movie and entered development hell. People only want the finale. Something people are forgetting is that the film was supposed to end the show, then CN got IP-whorey and it changed to the movie needing to reboot the series into a spinoff (it was something like "Gumball: The Series") and now it just seems like the next season isn't even a reboot.

The only reason people want more Gumball is because it was supposed to be an actual ending, and Ben said from very early in production that he wanted a heartfelt crazy finale, and if there's anything the cynical later seasons needed it was something sincere again.
>>
>>147107066
That was when CN was doing those live action shows like Tower Prep, right?

>Rejected Billy and Mandy and KND revival despite the creators wanting to bring them back.
>Killing themselves to bring back Advneture Time, Regular Show, PPG again, and Fosters.
>The first two ended 7 years ago.
Why does CN hate their non LA creatives so much?
>>
>>147104978
this exact mindset is used by modern video game devs, they had the most layoffs ever during 2023-2024
>>
>>147104966
I know Steven Universe is over a decade old now but it really wasn't good enough to warrant revisiting over shit that's been dead for longer (cough Courage cough). Also pandering to revivals of these old shows for people who were kids when they aired feels like you're just turning CN into an Adult Swim channel but for two different types of 25-35 year olds.
>>
>>147111504
Also One of the problems I'm having with these revivals is that it hasn't been that long since they ended, AT pretty much it's a kind of series that never really left to be honest after it's 2018 ending and like a year after we got shit like distant lands for HBO and they announce Fiona cake and now they're doing this now
>>
>>147109678

The preschool demo is the most profitable demo
>>
>>147111443
CN's excuse is kids do not know what Billy and Mandy and KND are
>>
>>147111590

And they never had the prestige that The PowerPuff Girls, Adventure Time or Steven Universe had
>>
>>147111590
>CN's excuse is kids do not know what Billy and Mandy and KND are
But they’ve been rerunning them lately on their channel and YouTube and I own a Billy and Mandy shirt.
>>
>>147111637
Which reminds me why is Dexter's laboratory not getting revived that show has prestige
>>
>>147111675
Yeah but that doesn't mean kids know what those shows are, CN only view stuff like Billy and Mandy as nostalgic shows only appeal to the people who only grew up with them and can't imagine appealing to the newer generation which is alphas, which is one of the reasons why they're only reviving 2010 shows because they think that kids still know those characters despite I don't think kids know who Mordecai and Rigby is
>>
>>147111711
And because of the last time they tried reviving it.
Also Genndy doesn’t see a reboot happening.
>>
>>147111711

Not as much prestige as PowerPuff Girls had
>>
>>147111857
>And because of the last time they tried reviving it.
The 2016 Powerpuff sucked in but yet they're still reviving it yet again
>>
>>147105473
most of these are preschool slop nobody's gonna remember in 15 years.
>>
>>147111590
This logic doesn't work when nostalgia baiting and constantly IP-whoring and turning things into a franchise is literally the only thing companies do anymore. If they wanted to bring back these shows, there'd be just as little problem doing so as making an Everybody Hates Chris cartoon, a Good Times cartoon, Good Burger 2 for Paramount+, a Legends of the Hidden Temple movie, Animaniacs revival, etc.

It doesn't matter if kids/teens don't know the original. They'd just watch it if they wanted to anyway, while also nostalgia baiting parents. The threshold for entry is nothing because all of these need to be made both for new viewers and original ones. That's why they're usually branded as "reboots" even if they're literally continuations like Rocko's movie.

If Maxwell Adams got his plot-centered revival for Billy and Mandy, it's not going to matter if you don't know the references to their escapades that'd come up. Kids would watch it if they wanted and be introduced to that new version.
>>
>>147112276
>Everybody Hates Chris cartoon, a Good Times cartoon, Good Burger 2 for Paramount+

Younger Millennials were definitely all over AT and RS.
>>
>>147111907
PPG was way larger of a franchise than Dexter.
>>
>>147111907
Despite 2016 sucking it still was a moderate success amongst kids which is why they’re ok with bringing it back yet again. Also, Gendy is busy and doesn’t want to revisit Dexter like he did with Samurai Jack
>>
>>147112276
Yeah but with these kid channels/brand since their target to a certain demo if the kids doesn't know what that show a property is there's not worth rebooting it
>>
>>147114100
It doesn't matter Dexter still is well known enough for reviving material
>>
>>147114279
Again, none of this shit matters because most kids grow up now not knowing these "highly revered classics with staying power" when they're not actively seeking it out and it's not appearing to them naturally through TV airings that they wouldn't even be watching anyway.
>but max
literally even these modern tentpoles in the OP getting revivals/continuations aren't on the service anymore. AT still might be, but RS and Gumball are gone. plenty of older shows left too.

The main point is, kids aren't going to care if they know these characters or not, because most of the time they don't really, and they'll just watch it regardless. I'm sure a lot of kids watching nuPPG didn't know the original. It's not discussed online that much, and CN barley aired the damn thing for years. They had no reason to have seen it or looked into it. They watched nuPPG, thought of it the same as any other content, and nothing happened. Kids really don't care that much.
>>
>>147114100
So is EEnE and Courage but you don’t hear anyone clamoring for reboots of those.
>>
>>147114385
To be honest if Cartoon Network were interested of rebooting stuff from pre 2010 that isn't Powerpuff girl they wouldn't stuck them on Checkered past and changing their viewer rating an adult swim
>>
>>147111587
>>147109678

ideally they then age into the other show so parent and child are attached to the brand for life
>>

Hot take, but I thought SU Future was a satisfactory ending to the series cause it closed off Steven and the Gem's stories quite nicely IMO. Sure some minor things might be a bit up in the air, but oh well. Last thing I'd want is for them to do STEVEN UNIVERSE FUTURE FUTURE where Steven and Connie are divorced or some shit.

Adventure Time's the only one I'm actually happy about. With Gumball, I just wanted a finale movie to close things out and I'd be content, but Regular Show 1000% doesn't need to be revived, especially when WBD already had JG Quintel making a brand-new cartoon for them that they cancelled abruptly. Regular Show has continued to be talked about long after it ended without the need for new episodes, so this feels like a waste of resources. They could've just done a special anniversary panel with the cast & crew or simply released new merch. I HATE that no show will ever truly end so long as it's deemed relevant and profitable.

The worst part is that fans are gonna eat this all up
>>
>>147123275
>I HATE that no show will ever truly end so long as it's deemed relevant and profitable.
They can't even be assed to give Regular Show a bluray box set. They're just now putting out the complete series as a lazy DVD exclusive with no special features or invitation for the crew to do anything for it, despite literally working at the studio still and making the revival. Just another bare bones, low quality vanilla release like those shitty dvds like the EEE complete set with template maker menus.

I just want people to be creative again and do something new. I'm sick and tired of Hollywood and current year Western Animation. Shit has turned so corporate that it kills creativity and originality which is really what people want. This is like what Spongebob did to Nick but on steroids. I don't want to see any of the old shit come back and I'm glad that the creators of stuff like EE&E have the rights to the show so reboot slop like what we've seen can't come out. They were probably the first to see the writing on the wall. Regular Show doesn't need a revival, it ended just fine. Adventure Time lost its direction so early on it turned into an unrecognizable abortion of what it originally was. Gumball's best years are behind it and they're out of ideas. Steven Universe literally turned into unironic tranny child grooming propaganda with episodes exploring the concept of "consent" and having actual commercials about interracial gay couples on a children's network.

And this is all on top of CN already being on the television chopping block and they're just sitting there saying that they can still hurt themself more before they go into the bright light. Cartoon Network is trash, Adult Swim is trash, Toonami is trash. All their beloved blocks could still be successful even if Cable wasn't circling the drain but no, keeping airing TTG 12 hours a day while having nepotistic sycophants in the brass and attention vampires of modern brain rot "idealogues" in the studios. CN has earned its death but for the love of God, stop molesting the corpses of other people's past success.

I'm a young millennial and I think AT and SU suck ass. RS and Gumball (before it got obsessed with meta jokes) were okay but they pale in comparasion to the 90's and early 00's Cartoon Network's hit shows.

im actually ok with gumball season 7 but the rest i do not care for

They could make Mao Mao season 2 since it was originally promised to us before the merger killed it.

You lived long enough to see the Golden Age die. It's not coming back. Animation will never be funded by toys and sugary cereal commercials to the degree they were in the 80's and 90's due to advertisement restrictions and cable being dead. All animation will ever be from now until forever is either "oh yeah, I guess we need a cartoon so parents will have something to shut their kids up, just do whatever is cheapest" on streaming services or insert youtube indie animation here. No middle ground.

And with AI on the horizon, I can tell you the former isn't going to get any better and the latter isn't going to get any more profitable.

I see they're pandering to zoomer nostalgia now
