>>147112484>> Thread Question:>Have you ever had a great idea independently, only to realize someone else already did it? Share stories.I don't see how it's possible to NOT have that happen. Entire sites like TVTropes are dedicated to the concept that there's nothing new under the sun, but rather it's all about HOW you present the material that matters.>Get off your ass, stop the 'hiatus' and actually work on your fucking comic, you pathetic worm.I am very pleased to state that I have never once taken a hiatus.

>>147118148Quoth a trolling faggot who won’t read my work because you’re from a culture who sees people who aren’t already established as ones to victimize.People like you (we all know who but are polite in public) should starved of participation in art. And I can easily do so if you continue to misuse 4chan, at any time
>>147112484>Have you ever had a great idea independently, only to realize someone else already did it? Share stories.Yes but not in webcomics. I was putting coconut milk in my strawberry acai refresher before the internet started calling it 'Pink Drink'I mean I guess Matt from Laserwing looks like Rittz from Boxer Hockey but 'brunette male' isn't exactly a specific archetype.
>>147119073Oh I also realized at some point that parts of his design are just Toad from X-men Evolution. Like you remove the physical mutation and give him a bath and that's Matt.

>>147112484i've done a couple of tshirt designs that wound up already existing, the most recent one was an illustration of the cat from that japanese movie house done up like a lucky cat statuesemi related: i did most of the work for the first issue of a comic when i was just out of highschool but scrapped the whole thing cause it involved anthro characters and this was when the anti furry sentiment exploded on the interneton top of that i, completely on accident, named the main character who was a racoon "tobey" which if you've ever seen roots could be inadvertently be construed as racistso i got discouraged and dropped the whole thing

why arent you working on your comic RIGHT NOW?
>>147121405>helped me make You’re talking about a friend who talked to you a bit about the project years ago before you started it. Either way you’re not exactly farming fanart and user contributions by spamming these unfinished stories. I’m waiting for any of them to get to the point

>>147121764> You’re talking about a friend who talked to you a bit about the project years ago before you started it.Zoomer if you keep saying this queer garbage I’ll drop kick your jaw offI do not want fanart from trash like you who feels the need to frame the lives of others to promote careerism in art, thanks
I mix mediums and artstyles in my comic alot, and I do it kind of arbitrarily; usually it's just whenever I feel like it, but occasionally I will do it to invoke a sense of tone. I've also started using more abstract imagery, especially in relation to the music that characters play, which makes the whole thing more trippy I think, and it also makes it less clear what's literally happening; but honestly I think I should have done it sooner, since the point of the magic system is that it takes the metaphorical and makes it literal, and characters using or not using their magic is more of a grey area than the bright hearts on their chest would lead you to believe. I honestly am a little frustrated at myself for giving them the glowing hearts on their chest when they use their powers because it makes it too clear when someone does and doesn't have their powers, but it also makes for REALLY good iconic shots. >>147122146perfect, glorious>>147112882Joke's on you, I already have it <3 >>147118348>legally, I cannotdid you sign some kind of contract? lol >>147120527This image is a cope from a lazy artist that doesn't want to draw backgrounds

good sites to post comics on?
>>147112484ok what did i miss, who's the nu schizo for me to latch onto and ween on
>>147127228>I am getting 2 likes on a good day.Never give up. I gave up on getting likes online a long time ago. I will keep making my comic no matter what just for the sake of it. To be frank, I only ever get likes or comments from people I know personally, my site has been hitting somewhere between 15-70 weekly viewers for years now, usually hovering around 30.I love your artstyle btw, the monster guy looks really cool!>>147125739I'm actually really happy with the 'special effects' recently, they've definitely taken a step up, but the simple-ass characters havent. I really like that juxtaposition though.
It pisses me off how obsessed this board is with fanart while a thread like this dries up. Every other thread in the board at any given time is created solely to bait drawfags.
>>147130046yeah its weird. people really do prefer franchise stuff. OCs are more interesting because you can tell what kind of things the artist is into and values.
>>147130358It's not weird. Most people prefer to see characters they recognize more than characters they don't recognize.
>>147130046Honestly imo these threads can do pretty well all things considered. Creating something original is often a lot more work than creating fanart.
>>147128710That moment when you're working on a song with your friends and you all get so into the flow that y'all're animated by one will.
>>147130046I've gotten fanart of KAB before to be fair. This board wasn't really made for something like HYW. To be frank I believe it'd be more fitting somewhere like >>>/ic/
>>147130847>>147130861>trip on for one post>trip off for next postI'm starting to think somebody is samefagging
Having finallyt subscribed to Michelle Fus's patroen (Ava's Demon) I can confirm she is working on it and posting WIP, just very slowly.
>>147131107Naw, I meant to have the trip on for the second post, but I posted on another thread between those two posts and took it off in the other thread and forgot to put it back on
>>147116082Gotta say the backgrounds are really nice. The various expressions are nicely emotive too.
>>147130046>>147130358>>147130644The problem is that people talk out both sides of their mouth. They'll sometimes whine about how the comics scene in N. America is just the same characters over and over and over and over and over but when anons are TRYING to make the new stories that people ask for that arent merely BL/GL story #2948274727 found on [insert webcomic site here], everyone just walks on by. The problem with recognition is that once you reach a certain mass it gets self sustaining and people will start looking for [big IP] solely becaise its big which in turn helps it stay alive and all but guarantees the small IPs stay small. It's a shitty uphill battle.
>>147132512It's like food. People claim to hate familiarity, but trying something new risks a bad experience, so they go with the option they know is satisfactory-enough.I remember reading a statistic somewhere that it takes three good experiences to equal one bad one. I doubt the ratio of good webcomics out there are a more favorable ratio than that figure.
>>147132512Take the Mona Lisa. At this point it's famous simply because it's famous because it's famous because it's famous because it's famous because it- you get the point. It's nowhere by any stretch of the imagination a bad painting, but there are other paintings in just the Louvre alone that are of equal skill or at least presented in a way that may potentially resonate with the viewing public more if they went in with no expectations. But where does everyone go? The Mona Lisa, because they were told by society to go there. >new person arrives to the comic scene>should I try a new comic or go for a batman comic?>everyone always goes for batman and the like so I guess should go there>batman as a result becomes more popular (or at least doesn't get less popular)>next new person arrives to the comic scene>should I try a new comic or go for a batman comic?>everyone always goes for batman and the like so I guess should go there>etc etc etc etc etc
>Have you ever had a great idea independently, only to realize someone else already did it?Actually, yes. Not just once, but several times. I have found Several Genie-themed webcomics out there. Seems that every site has atleast One decent-ish quality genie comic that’s been running for years with nobody giving a shit about it. (Rayah the Genie on Tapas, Marid webcomic on ComicFury, My Genie Boyfriend on Webtoon). That being said, Of course I’m not deterred. I’m not really competing against them anyway. I’m trying to go for gold with Wish Fulfillment.>>147132512A big part of this “uphill” battle I think is more of a game about salesmanship. People need to be convinced that what your “selling” (even if it doesn’t actually have a price tag) is worth their time.
>>147135988nice page. Neat little interaction.
Youre comics shit
