Is there any way to get good up and coming artists involved in comics or is it a lost cause at this point when videogames and film work pays better?

Pic-unrelated, but Gary Gianni is kino.

It would have to be a pretty dramatic shift. There's clear interest in comics going by how people are interested in manga and kids' comics, but how the mainstream US companies handles things is limited so far, and there's a lot that people have to relearn
>>
>>147113331
Better pay and giving them more time to draw the comic
>>
>>147113331
Probably a lost cause.
I'm working on a comic, but I'm not that good yet.
>>
>>147113331
Pay them better?
Assistants would be good too, especially since the original art market is going to dry up with digital art superseding traditional pencils and inks.

Fucking boring shit
Kamome Shirahama its better
Hyperrealistic art is boring, forgettable, bland and pretentious.

Fantasy and history bro.
Why?

I mean artwise.

This is the comment equivalent of spontaneous combustion. Just malding for no reason out of nowhere.

I don't understand what possible problem you could have with Gary Gianni if you like these artists.
>>
>>147114277
His style is too rigid. comic art is sequential and must flow between panels. look at the big 3
>>
>>147114307
You could do anything with sequential art. Neither of the western artists you listed have a flow in their comics either.
>>
>>147113331
Marvel or DC? Naw.

Scholastic? Absolutely. Shit, they sold ten million copies of Bone.

Not gonna happen.

I'd rather it be something else. I have no interest in superhero comics or children's picture books.

Completely lost cause, yeah. Your best bet to get any kind of good art is unironically commissioning things on Twitter or the artist’s own website if they’re prolific enough to have an online portfolio.
>>
>>147113331
I heard that artists dont get payed that well in videogames or film neither.
>>
>>147121466
Then where do they go?

Webcomics.
Marvel and DC have their own weird cliques that keeps sane people out. I'm sure Image is similar, too.
>>
>>147113437
Why not hire artists specifically to appeal to manga fans and what not? I'm willing to bet there's a ton of new artists in this day and age weeby enough or just skilled enough they can make it work.
>>
>>147124828
Webcomics lack discipline enforcement.
>>
>>147125255
Manga fans ultimately just want to read manga. If you got a hardcore fan who's been reading manga all his life, draws in similar styles, and wants to make comics like manga, he'd still be decried as being a hack wannabe by manga fans.

Not really unless they already want to make comics. There's such a strong cultural bias against it in America and not a lot of money involved. Your options for publishing are either floppies or doing a book and hoping it sells enough so you can do a sequel if you can't fit the whole story in one.

It's only a lost cause in america. Industry is fine in Europe. Good comics artists just need to pitch to countries that read. Like Dodson was smart enough to.

Reminder that we had pretty much exactly this in the 90s when Joe Mad became the hottest shit in comics. He then immediately fucked off to concept art and character design for videogames because it actually paid, unlike comics. And still to this day people are copying his style and ripping him off. All the early WoW designs are just stealing his shit and he got it all from Manga.

OP's pic is nowhere near hyper realistic, you clearly don't even know what you are talking about
