Looking back, was it really as bad as we all remember?

The ending still sucks. That will never change.
>>
The sequel was better
>>
>>147125447
the only thing i hate was the adult stuff. like when fred mentioned how shooby tried to lick his testicles at Christmas time. i still remember it and it bugs me
>>
>>147125447
My friends at school liked it. I liked it then and I like it now.

>>147125458
Also true.
>>
>>147125447
This is a foundational zoomer text.
It was always kino.
>>
The sequel ends with Ruben Studdard singing a cover of Shining Star
https://youtu.be/WNPtoJqkAHg?si=PiDJkiQGh5Lhbw3E
>>
>>147125447
The twist ending with Scrappy was kinda dumb.
>>
>>147125497
Who the hell is Ruben Studdard?
>>
>>147125554
Ligma balls
>>
I don't know one single person who remembers this as a bad movie. This and Speed Racer are top adaptations.
>>
>>147125447
it's goofy and fun
>>
>>147125611
>I don't know one single person who remembers this as a bad movie.
I remember critics and other eclebs decrying it back in the day. Don't get me wrong they're not good films. But compared to a lot of adaptations of cartoons. These were tolerable and I still hold some nostalgia for them. Despite their many flaws.
>>
>>147125447
Fuck you faggot, I loved that movie.

>>147125475
Same

>>147125458
Also same.
>>
>>147125460
The adult stuff is great and it should have been less de-beaned.

I think this movie SUCKS
>>
>>147125447
I knew they were lying when this was released when they said they had a gay/lesbian kiss scene (Fred and shaggy in velma and daphne's bodies) film but cut it.

Gunn said a year or so back that it didn't even make it into the script
>>

groping velma's thighs

Huh? What was wrong with the ending?

>>147125645
Critics are dumb. I wonder how many of them liked Velma.
>>
>>147125927
That being said, there are a number of fun deleted scenes
https://youtu.be/CEbo32Or_Jo
>>
>>147126670
They should have kept the cartoon intro and Velma's song imo.

>>147126400
The 2000s vibe was a real time capsule.
>>
>>147125447
Daphne should have been prettier. An absolute stunner.
>>
>>147125554
An American fucking Idol
>>
>>147125447
It was ok, scooby doo is kind of a boring franchise in itself so I don't really know what more they'd want out of it, I'm surprised they were able to milk it for so long
>>
>>147126417
Didn't that predate the movie?
>>
>>147125500
You're not wrong but it killed the character permanently which is based

Nah, growing up is realizing crassness is cringe

It's kino

It was never bad.
The actors they cast, the music, the story: all great!
>>
>>147125447
its universally loved by 99% of westerners
what nonsense are you talking about?
>>
It's not winning any awards, but I'd be a liar if I said the two movies weren't entertaining. Better than the two CN live action movies, that's for sure.

This. It's why I don't get how anyone can hate the two films. Scooby-Doo is an inherently silly cartoon, so Gunn did possibly the most faithful adaptation anyone could've attempted. And better yet, it's ENTERTAINING
>>
>>147125447
The first one is kind of forgettable to an extent, but the second one was a blast.
>>
>>147125447
>The ending still sucks
You mean the Scrappy thing or did something else happen?
>>
It's definitely in 'so bad it's good' territory because i can't believe anyone thought making this was a good idea and someone at WB signed off on it.
>>
All I remember is the marijuana/"Shaggy is a stoner" jokes this movie had.
>>
>>147125875
Never mind. It was all worth it.
>>
>>147125447
I like how you LARPing as someone older to remember seeing this in theaters.
>>
>>147133068
I'm only 29 and I saw this in theaters when it released because I was a big fan of Scooby Doo and my parents took me. Someone doesn't have to be a complete 50 year old boomer to have seen this in theaters.
>>
>>147125460
Younger millenial here, was this movie not well received? I remember liking it as a kid. I think Scrappy pissing on Daphne in the beginning was weird, ya. Now that I think about it it establishes hate for the character so maybe that was the point?
>>
>>147125447
>The ending still sucks
It's a good movie for what it is. You just aren't smart enough to appreciate it.
>>
I legit love this movie. Actors are all perfect for the roles, lots of good jokes.

I don't know if that makes it GOOD, but personally I love it.
>>
>>147125447
>In some timeline, there exists a pg-13 version of this movie that we will never see
feelsbad
>>
>>147125447
It was alright but it would’ve shit if Gunn was allowed to insert all his cringy adult jokes into it
>>
>>147125554
He was the 2nd winner of American Idol, beating Clay Aiken.
>>
YOU REMIND ME OF A MAN
>>
>>147125447
Who the fuck said it was bad? The consensus always was that it's meh. Overall dumb, with some bad decisions, but also with some redeeming qualities. Like Just seeing Shaggy, Velma and Fred hanging out with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and CGI Marmaduke was kinda neat.

>Some jokes were extremely shit
Which ones in particular?
>>
>>147141277
The one where Scooby and Shaggy were having a farting contest was so drawn out and unnecessary for example. The second one had something similar but they turned into women iirc.
>>
>>147125447
Great wardrobe. My compliments to the costume designer!
>>
>>147139565
Wow. I never picked up on Shaggy's girlfriend looking exactly like Daphne.

Maybe it was supposed to be Daphne originally?
>>
>>147142594
Y'know, Daphne and Fred were never a couple until around 1997. There are way more clues that the original idea was for Daphne/Shaggy.
>>
>>147141323
It wasn't just them turning into women. It was a scene where they turned into a bunch of things after drinking some potions, including Shaggy into a woman, Shaggy into the Hulk, and Scooby into Einstein. Wasn't nearly as bad imo, way more variety.

It was always good, and it had a great soundtrack.

People always talk about the live action casting, but Scooby himself was pretty well designed.
I mean, that's not an easy task, making him like a realistic dog while still looking like the cartoon without looking too uncanny
>>
>>147125447
My only complaint was how the gang immediately had a falling out and acted like they hated each other the whole movie, which the sequel fixed. The ending was great unless you’re a scrappyfag.

I thought it sucked as a kid but I caught it on cable when I was older and it was probably the best you could have done with a Scooby Doo movie.
