He really isn't a good writer at all...He's...Actually really quite awful.
>>147127265Bob Kane won
>>147127271He was a better writer that's for sure. Stan Lee writes like a carnival barker from the late 40's.
Well yeah, he's dead.
>>147127265Wrong.
>>147127334Wrong.
>>147127334>They do not notice >*notices*So is that good writing?
>>147127334You mean Bill Finger. Or Gardner Fox. Or countless others.
>>147127334Based Bob.
>>147127265You're an illiterate sped
>>147128857Still his idea to create a guy called Batman but yeah he should have shared credit
>>147127265He was better than average at superhero writing at the time, though that's not saying much. He was basically a comedy writer doing superhero comics, and by his own admission he was not great at creating plots (you can tell a lot of Marvel stories are just the result of a phone call where he says "draw X fighting Y"), but he was decent at goofy one-liners and some of his character voices are pretty much the same to this day, like the Thing and Spider-Man.Is he a "good" writer, no, he's an editor and wannabe Archie writer who accidentally did a couple of new things by writing superheroes like comedy/soap characters.
>>147127265He wasn't a writer. He was an editor. That's why the credit belong to Ditko and Kirby, in spite of what Disney/Marvel say
>>147127271>>147127334>Bob Kane>writer
>>147129012>He was basically a comedy writer doing superhero comicsThis is actually a great way to put it. I'm going to start quoting that lol.>you can tell a lot of Marvel stories are just the result of a phone call where he says "draw X fighting Y"Pretty much every neutral party at Marvel back in the day has said that he was way more involved than that (excluding later Ditko Spidey issues).
>>147127334>Stan Lee writes like a carnival barker from the late 40's.And that's what makes him good.
>>147129019>He wasn't a writer. He was an editor.Wrong.
>>147129110Wrong.
>>147128951We're talking about the actual writing though, so comparing what's in the script
>>147129107If you look at his work on the funnies that's clearly where his soul was, especially Vera ValiantThat's probably why the Spider-Man strip was his longest writing gig
>>147129118Ditko and Kirby did all the job and Stan just added jokes and meta comments
>>147129198Wrong. Ask literally anyone from 60s Marvel who didn't have an axe to grind and they'll refute that.
>>147127334>va va va voom! The jewish stereotypes write themselves.
>>147129012He was a good writer in the sense that he appealed to very young kids, and he had a whimsical personality that made his comics feel colorful in the sense of being lively and having a welcoming feel. It was mostly kids in elementary school that he attracted. And probably the reason that he attracted so much attention at the time, where many comic writers were writing in a very frank and unassuming tone, for a broad appeal. Can you imagine a 3rd grade reading this? For an adult it's entertaining, but for a young kid it's probably a little confusing and boring.
>>147127265Why though?
>>147127265>isn'tWasn't. He's dead.
>>147127265Mediocre at best, but his stuff had charm.>>147127334That first Batman comic is one of the worst, most boring comics I've ever read. The kind of boredom that can put you to sleep forever if you aren't careful.Stan Lee is Milton in comparison.
>>147127265He had his moments. He was honestly better at dialogue and narration than his contemporaries, he had a unique voice. But it was really just one voice over and over and it got old, he started to turn into a parody of himself after a while.
>>147127271The best thing Bob Kane did was ripoff the Shadow and the Phantom Detective wholesale, and even then his fellow jew Bill Finger did more to make the Batman what he is today.
>>147129198They were pretty good jokes though
