Considering every writer for both Marvel and DC has completely run out of ideas, I'm surprised we haven't yet gotten a story arc where Peter takes the Symbiote back. We got "Back in Black" with the cloth black costume, which I guess was close enough.

They did that for like a really short bit in Venom Wars when Eddie and Dylan got in a stupid gang war between each other, and he got called in to basically break it up. Zombiotes were involved, it was a real mess.
