Dragging Daisy down
Preview
What a stupid chapter this was>Lucy feels bad that she screamed at Paulo like a maniac>She doesn't apologize, she just decides to manipulate Daisy>Good thing Daisy's such a fat cow and is so addicted to milkshakes she forgot Paulo works that shift>Good thing Paulo has cloaking powers and somehow hid himself in plain sight and just listened in like a weirdo while Lucy glared Daisy down and browbeat her into a screaming tearful fitAll so we can throw two people who have a bad habit of using other people for an emotional pick me up together.
>>147136180I thought Paulo was supposed to be tails
>>147136180Paulo is rapping that child!
>>147136180Why does Paulo like Daisy?Because she strokes his ego and supports him no matter what? Why does Daisy like Paulo?Because she's horny and it strokes her ego?Other then being horny "bisexuals" desperate for romance, what else do these fuckers have in common?
Let's really talk about it, reply to this with a list of things that you think Daisy and Paulo have common ground with, as far as interests and who they are as people are concerned.
>>147136834They want to kiss the same boys. They both have self-esteem issues they try to solve through seeking validation from romanceUh.... they both let Lucy walk all over them despite her being a huge bitch?
>>147136834These two have spent more time together, had more spats and heart-to-hearts and actually have some interest overlap.Taeshi spent more chapters filling out Paulo and Mike's relationship then Paulo x Lucy, Mike x Daisy, Daisy x Paulo or Mike x Lucy.Paulo is more devastated that Mike rejected him then anyone else. Though it is pretty weird he went from being an angsty-bitch about his dead-beat mom and secret sister to being horny/emotionally desperate for Mike.
>>147135634she unironically deserves better
>>147135634One very small example of the flaws with BCB writing and the constant use of recycled plots and character personalities. This is what we mean when we say "everything is the same"or "not interesting" or"not compelling."Characters are supposed to be a variety of different perspectives that further emphasizes the plot and themes of your narrative.
>>147137228BCB more like BPD
>>147137932Bittersweet Pandy Dowl
>>147137948No, borderline personality disorder because the author uses this more as a vent comic than a comic made to tell a coherent story.
jfc these threads are on life support
>>147135634I just hope they do not break up and the comic is wrapping up rn.
>>147137932Pretty much. I could probably do a dozen other comparisons but the pattern is pretty easy to see.>>147138572Yeah, basically. She just reuses the same splitting/idealization/devaluation stuff But sometimes it's an "intrusive blunt truth" moment.. which is pretty much all Yashy is used for - but basically amounts to the many "Oh my god, YOU'RE SUCH A WHORE LOL" then almost always get bonked.
>>147136796>>147136834At first, I was gonna say that Daisy has been one of Paulo's only friends that has not looked down on him for not taking college seriously. But then I remember that all his girlfriends have been relatively kind and supportive in their own ways. I'm also including Rachael into that mix; even though they didn't date and she did get involved with him for the wrong reasons, she still tried to help him build up his confidence.I think here was some friction with him and Jasmine about academics, but he his simping for Lucy is what ended that. Just like how it prevented him from pursuing things with Rachael. And I wonder if he and Tess would have stayed together if she wasn't a senior graduating. As for Daisy, I guess Paulo has always been nice to her. He also went to the one convention with her when she was afraid to go alone and too embarrassed to admit to Abbey that she cosplayed. Despite him being at the convention and in costume too right?Bottom line is that the common ground Paulo and Daisy have is the same common ground a lot of high school relationships are stated on:>Go to the same school>Are in the same grade>Share some classes together>Are part of the same friend group>Maybe like the same movie or music so we're soulmates! But in reality....They're both each other's last pick and aren't dating anyone else. So they might as well date each other.
>>147139363I mean, Paulo has always been weirdly blushy around Daisy and wanting to protect her, so Taeshi probably saw that fit as good buildup, but we've seen the last few chapters that Paulo is hung up over not just somebody else, but MULTIPLE different people. Dating someone who has feelings for someone else is just asking for trouble. We needed a chapter of him grappling with his feelings for Daisy and the thought process behind his emotional suppression.
>>147136796They ran out of options
>>147139510Yeah, that's my problem with this. Taeshi wants this to be a big thing, but she instead made it seem like Daisy would be stupid to get her hopes up.
>>147136576>Rachel doing loli roleplay
>>147139781She hinted at it before! But in chapters that released before some of her fans were even born. In the past 15 years it's just been Paulo going after multiple different people. I'm sure Suitcase is crying his favorite line "Vero shouldn't have to spoonfeed people!" line as he reads this, but show don't tell only works if what is being shown is actually coherent and matches up with the narrative being read out. We can see Paulo blushing looking at Daisy all we want, but we're also seeing shit like >>147136955 that makes one wonder why Paulo is flip flopping so much.
>>147135634I like to think lucy just attempt suicide again a dozen pages ago and no one was around to help her this time so she is still bleeding on the floor
>>147136834What >>147136912 said, plus:Both are shallow, collecting crushes on anyone and everyone they find attractive (or will give them attention), and mistaking their strongest crush for "true love".Both have little control over their emotions, tending to immediately tantrum and resort to petty violence when they feel slighted, and rush to trying to take something (or someone) when they want it. I imagine neither would succeed in the marshmallow test. Both are fundamentally dishonest, seeing nothing wrong with lying so long as it's convenient and won't be called out. Both aspire to be the Stacy/Chad, but can't really pull it off outside of short periods of acting the part. You may note that many of these things, except "want to kiss the same boys" and "aspire to be stacy/chad", apply equally as well to Mike and Lucy. Draw your own conclusions.
>>147136834They're desperate for affection but blind to the affection they already have everywhere. For all the crying Paulo does about nobody wanting him he's had so many chances, all the girls that had something with him tried to support him and didn't bring to him how much of a womanizer he was before, he never had to deal with someone telling to his face that he was unloved, and even Lucy who has told him that she's only used him still thinks she's doing him a favor. He has a friend so obsessed with his happiness that he'd go gay if asked by him, and has Mike's support despite the pile of busses he's stacked over him. And Daisy? Daisy is likeable, she's the leader of cheerleaders, she's got friends and most people think she's agreeable and kind, and even had a white knight who dated her and a delinquent kid that wanted her. But that's all other people, she doesn't make an effort to look for her happiness herself, and thus "no one wants her" she says as she hides in plain sight. They both long for something very much within reach that they fuck up themselves, and now that they "found it" their reaction is almost laughable because they didn't find each other, they just took it in the most bureaucratic manner possible like "I guess this is it"
>>147140173Should have scrolled down further before replying,>>147137228>>147137932basically made my point for me.
I can see where PauloxDaisy is coming from. Paulo always thinks he isn't good enough, smart enough, etc, but Daisy always believed in him and praises him on his accomplishments (getting a job, a car, etc). Daisy wants to feel loved and adored and wanted, being loved by a cute boy who's always been a good friend to her makes total sense to me, especially since they're teenagers. They don't necessarily have to have a ton in common, they could compliment each other well.TLDR; >Paulo thinks he's dumb, Daisy makes him feel accomplished and is proud of him>Daisy feels ugly and unwanted, Paulo can make her feel loved and wantedBut this conclusion just feels so...lackluster. Milquetoast. I unironically enjoyed the drama of Eternal Flame, and this doesn't have any of that, in spite of the fact that it's two of the main characters getting together (probably till the end of the series).
