Nicodemus
>>147138790I really need to sit down with this movie again.
>>147138790niggademus lmao
>>147139323I find the concept of rats having human intelligence uncomfortable, and I say this as someone who used to keep rats as pets.
>>147139364It's fine in an animated film like this, it helps us empathize with them. In real life though, I don't even want to think about the implications.
>>147138790Clip your fucking fingernails dude
>>147139364>>147139405yeah rats are smarter than a lot of people wanna think about. they're very adaptable and quick to learn.I mean they have to be, they live like 5 years tops if they're lucky
>>147139323>You ever get the impression the ending of Secret of NIMH is basically Planet of the Apes? No. I don't think it's anything that dire. There were only so many rats to start with so they're not about to over take humans or anything. Not that I don't think there's an layer of existential dread about the whole thing. Exploring the full ramifications of making things not just smarter but capable of abstract thought really calls into question what that even really means and the layer of tragedy of what the creatures we made will eventually go through. Further if they did this to the rats what else could they do down the road.
>>147139472They never learned to avoid the oreos at the center of my glue traps.
>>147139611I mean I'd fall for that too, to be fair
>>147139580It's the abstraction that's the key point. A lot of animals are already frighteningly intelligent, you ever see what crows get up to. The difference between people genius and animal genius is that while animal genius CAN recognize cause and effect, pattern recognition and advanced memory, they don't do some of the shit people do because they never needed to. An animal, even the smartest one, wouldn't ever get into astrophysics because the concept of astrophysics is too abstract to even bring up.
>>147139611Yeah but now I bet you also have ants. Dumbass.
I know this Puerto Rican dude who looks like a rat so I call him Spicodemus. He works as a security guard at hmart lmao
>>147139646The ants get stuck in the glue too.
>>147138790gesundheit
I watched Secret of Nimh and Robin Hood with my kids recently and I had forgotten over the years how high-effort the voice acting was in animated films from that era. They picked a lot of theatrical actors who spoke very clearly and openly and with flourish, and it was a real change of pace from sitting down with the more modern cartoon films they normally watch. They simply do not make movies like that anymore.
>>147139742It all started going downhill once they thought to cast celebrities
"Courage of the heart is very rare. The stone has a power when it's there."
If there was a list of all the /co/ wizards, he would NOT be on the bottom.

>>147139742>>147139756Yeah people complain about celeb focus for a good reason
>>147139742Interestingly, you can still find performances like that. Just, you know, in a different medium.
