What's with all these new stories coming out that seem to all fall under the same premise of the Main Character having powers/a cool job or duty and hating it? Why is it that writers and artists nowadays keep gravitating towards this trope now?

the powers ended up putting people she cared about in danger, were thrust upon her by her deceitful aunt, led to her being labeled a demon publically, and were sought after by people who wanted to rip the powers from her. they presented a danger to her more than simply an inconvenience.
