Clarence is lower middle class which makes him relatable to multiple people who grew up in such a "situation" , sort of a Malcolm In The Middle typw thing.
>>
>>147140181
culturally significant or deeply impactful to a specific group

What race are your parents? If they're anything but black, they have their race's personality. Don't blame blacks on your shitty abusive parents.

Black Panther is very popular amongst blacks because it makes them feel represented and seen, for this twitterfag he felt represented and seen as a lower middle class individual and cites it with a very specific common occurrence where his family wasn't too poor to get something like a mildly aged game console but could rarely if ever afford a vacation that went anywhere.

Feeling "seen" or "represented" in a major way, usually for the first time. There were lots of black super heroes before BP, but BP was the first big "event" movie featuring a black super hero. Blade is more of an anti-hero than a super hero, and while those films were popular, they weren't huge tent pole movies.
MCU has been trying to repeat that with every group, mostly unsuccessfully: Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Shang Chi were all more or less marketed similarly, but none of them really landed the way Black Panther did.

Nah not really, i watched it, it's honestly pretty good. Basically its stupid kids being stupid kids. I liked how the adults could be weird and immature at times yet still sort of felt like adults who actually tried their best to take care of the kids.

When Americans talk about "Not being able to afford going on vacation" are they specifically talking about international vacations? Surely everyone but the most abjectly impoverished would be able to afford to drive a few states over to go camping or something.

Parents are the ones who budget, and decide whether or not a family can "afford" things. We couldn't "afford" cable, but could afford a handle of vodka every 2 nights for dad. It's a cultural sickness that the parents would rather buy the kid a GameBox than share a memorable experience.
You think anybody here got into vidya because their family was happy and loving and played together?

Camping costs money. Park fees and travel aside, there’s an awful lot of necessary equipment that can be insurmountable costs if you’re on the poverty line. Sure, once you have the tent and sleeping bags and rain gear and butane stoves and fishing rods etc, it’s not bad, but in the short term, a gaming system is cheaper and shuts the kid up so you can continue to ignore them.
>>
>>147143438
Didn't you hear? It's cool now to have English be your first and only language, but construct your sentences like an ESL. Get with the times, old man.

>>147145147
Oh yeah, definitely, you could spend less than what the Xbox 360 would've cost at launch for at least one night at a hotel as long as it isn't a big city or costly area, as the Xbox 360 was like 400 dollars in USD at launch, while a hotel for one night could go for anywhere between a little over 200 bucks to about 350 bucks for a family, which could be like two parents and two kids, and assuming that the parents saved up for this for two years or so instead of putting it all into the Xbox, I think it's very much possible. It's all about compromise; the upper-middle class can afford both without having to worry, the lower-middle class are going to pick between what they want more in a certain instance.

>>147145147
In the US it's usually not the money but time. Working-poor have trouble getting time off from jobs because there's no standardized holidays for workers.

Even as an American I sometimes wonder about this. We were rather poor after NAFTA but we still managed to drive a couple of hours to Myrtle Beach and stay at a motel a few blocks from the coast for 3-4 nights. As long as I could walk to the beach and go swimming I was fine.

Shit costs money ontop of it depending on your parent's job. Like even if you theoretically have the money to spend, can you afford to miss out on that pay and would your place of business even allow it?

We were lower middle class but still managed to go camping in nearby states, stay in marriots for a long weekend and go to Disney World several times. Then again that was in the early 90's. Then my dad left us and I became a latchkey kid.
>>
If the middle class even existed today I dont think they could afford to go to Disneyland anymore. A week long vacation there is an easy $3000s.

It is kind of crazy how much stuff in that show I relate to, like the people running on power lines game while riding in a car or putting your action figures in water and letting them turn to ice in the freezer.

Does anyone else feel like the internet's just become people slapping random terms together and everyone trying to interpret them through their own lens without any actual coherent discussion being had or point being made? Look at this fucking shit, look at the different "interpretations" in this thread. It's just noise. It's just white fucking noise. It's not even funny or amusing, it's just fucking noise.
>>
>>147145321
Stop projecting, there’s plenty of time in one lifetime to share memorable real experiences and play games on your own. They’re in no way exclusive

Only shitposters (sharty trolls) and 3rd worlders seethe at the suggestion.
Most of the low quality content seen on the internet is from phoneposters.

Poor people are poor because they are genuinely retarded. They dont budget or refrain from buying stupid shit they dont need.
