Western animation is in the crapper and Western comics barely exist except for cape shit. So all we have are the classics to look back on and the rare gem when something new crops up. Power Puff Girls is a funny show for all ages. It isn't baby slop. Now stop being a faggot.

They don't really explain what the gnome did wrong. They act like he took away freedom but he didn't. People chose to follow him, they didn't have to. It was a stupid decision mind you, but he didn't force them.

Still though, this was THE MOST kino episode ever! Of all time! I loved it bro.
>>
>>147150145
But how was he evil? We never see him hurt anybody or force them to do things they didn't want to.
>>
>>147150153
He was evil in creating free will, and then punishing his creations for that choice. Remove one or the other, and he's still benevolent. Either people have free will of his choosing and are unpunished, or people do not have free will and are thusly unpunished by a penalty that will never apply to them. Omniscience and omnipresence preclude the possibility of omnibenevolence in the world that we exist in.

What the fuck episode were you watching? The Gnomey episode was about resisting security state authoritarianism. The show got shitcanned because it sounded too much like being against US hegemony and domestic surveillance, and regardless of which wing of /pol/ you fly on as far as what you thought of the higher-ups motives, the executives knew where their marching orders came from.

>>
>>147150797
>security state authoritarianism
That applies to communist countries as well. I don't doubt they had the Patriot Act and other examples in mind, but the episode had a broad theme of not giving up freedom for security. Which isn't exclusively applicable to US domestic surveillance.

Anon, state authoritarianism has been associated with communism since the 20th Century. This isn't the rosy days of the era where people thought Marxism would destroy the state apparatus because Marx was opposed to it. Everyone knows how this shit goes down now.
>>
>>147150685
Was it even actually banned? It was a late episode of the PPG - maybe it just didn't air much?
>The episode was pulled and banned in the United States from its timeslot on February 27, 2004 because Cartoon Network claimed that the metal beams in the destroyed buildings looked too much like crucifixes and that one of the hippies looked like Jesus Christ; it was also speculated that it was banned due to the stroboscopic effects seen in the "Hear Me Fathers" sequence.

>trading freedom for security

That was the entire point. The big political issue at the time of its creation was the recertification of the Patriot Act and all of the extralegal shenanigans it had authorized that people had been discovering. People tend to forget or willingly gloss over how invasive that law was, and how much power it gave to our domestic spying apparatus with no tangible benefits regarding terrorism. It was right around the time Americans started pushing back on the government using 9/11 as carte blanche to shred the Constitution.
>>
>>147150835
No dude. There are many ore enemies to freedom besides just communism dumbass. And either way, Prof was just plain wrong. That gnome never made the people do any of that shit, and he never asked them to either. They chose it. If anything the PPG should beat up the citizens.

Robespierre did literally nothing wrong if you discount the beheadings and the insanity and the fact that he turned his back on literally everyone that he was allied to in a fit of tyrannical madness that betrayed the very cause he was supposedly advocating for and the mass paranoia and
>>
>>147154623
Robespierre wasn't evil, he was just an incorruptible leftist in a world of corrupt rightoid moderates. With his death, France was fated to return to a monarchy, undoing much of the revolution in the process. But his purges left it strong and enough of it endured to carry on his will.

if robespierre was anything, he was a counter revolutionary that stalled out actual change from the masses. robespierre is what happens when there's no plan afterwards and the people that are left in power have no clue how to make a democracy work for a population that is mostly uneducated who has no idea what they're supposed to do either. robespierre and useless beheadings long after the point was made is the reason vanguardism exists

Fucking what, one of Robespierre's biggest problems was that he was putting out absurdly radical positions for the era. He was LITERALLY the one that made the Cult of the Supreme Being in an attempt to replace Christianity, banned Catholicism, and ordered the plundering of Catholic churches. That came DIRECTLY from him. He was the singular most major accuser of Danton's supposed affair with the aristocracy. He vehemently advocated for a total extermination of anybody that stood against the Republic. He was fucking radical as shit.

The only successful revolution was the American revolution and that was because the people in power specifically faught so they couldn't have power.
>>
>>147157097
american "revolution" was just a power grab to make a new ruling class in north america, nothing more. there was still slavery, there was still no vote for women, it was just for wealthy white men, specifically people like andrew jackson who grew up involved in genociding native americans to be a land speculator
>>
>>147150070
Why does it look like young Jack Black?
>>
>>147157078
No it's obviously not, but characterizing him as a counter revolutionary is absurd. His problem was that he was so overly zealous that he began to see anything less than a literal actual extermination of anyone slightly less zealous than him as the only way to ensure the survival of the Revolution, which naturally ultimately doomed it.

There's a difference between being a counter revolutionary and being so zealous for a cause that you take it too far, are you daft? A "counter revolutionary" has a very specific meaning of actively attempting to stop a revolution or reverse it. Robespierre never tried this at any point and was fully behind the cause even to his dying breath, he was just so ridiculously zealous that he incidentally led to its undoing. Please look up what a counter revolutionary is before accusing fucking Robespierre of being one.
>>
>>147157115
Accidentally dooming the French Revolution by by going full retard and trying to kill everyone that might even slightly be opposed to it isn't counter revolutionary dude.
>>
>>147157115
Being bad at being a revolutionary is not the same as being a counter-revolutionary you dumdum.
'Counter-revolutionary' implies that he was undermining the revolution intentionally, there is no evidence to support this, he was it's most fervent adherent.

>>147157115
>>147157134
>>147157146
Yeah Revolutions can doom themselves if they become overly zealous, just look at Mao. He was hardly counter-revolutionary, he was just so fucking retarded that China abandoned a collectivist economy after him.
>>
I'm just gonna add to what others are saying and point out that Robespierre was basically the embodiment of the French Revolution down to his insanity and total iconoclasm of anything aristocratic. He was literally having people killed for wearing clothes that were too nice. Only Saint-Just was comparable as a literal embodiment but as wrathful as he was he wasn't quite as insane.
