Arcane is a good series but it released 4 years ago and 2021 had plenty of good anime as well. Cartoons can compete with anime by just being cartoons. An average ya book is as shit as an average cartoon but the best of books heavily outclass the best of cartoons. the same is true for anime. The best of anime heavily outclass the best of cartoons. Cartoon would be better now if they had produced a lot of outstanding cartoons in the last half a decade or so but the only example you have is Arcane. Arcane was great. Finally something on par with atla. But Japan already has at least a dozen of anime that are on par or better than atla.
