>Indie animation is a bubble, it will never be as successful as television animation >can barely crack 100k Imagine getting less views than Monkey Wrench
>>147154569I'm being serious when I say this:Kids do not care about cartoons anymore. They're too busy playing minecraft or fapping to skibidi toilet on their smartphones.
>>147154569Jesus, ratings now are shit, being less than a mil on premiere was a instant death sentence in the past. Looking at old ratings 4-6 mil were average for good premieres of pilots and animated series
>>147154609I disagree, lots of kids like Digital Circus, the problem is that most television animation looks the exact same now and it doesn’t have anything to make it stand out. Kids get bored very quickly
>>147154569It's StugOver
>>147154609Kids like loud and obnoxious things and tweens like theory-crafting bullshit. Skibidi is popular with the former, and then became popular with the latter with its weird worldbuilding. Digital Circus is popular with the latter. The thing they both have in common is that they are incredibly accessible because they're on YouTube. If something like The Owl House was made for YouTube and Disney owned the full rights to that website, it probably would've been a big financial hit.
>>147154817Why hasn't any major animation studio tried capturing the YouTube indie market then?I can only think of Nick but that barely counts because all they do is make low effort animations probably made by third worlders using their existing IPs for youtube
>>147154871Because they all wanted to do it on their own streaming service. A few studios and even some independents tried to capitalize on YouTube's market, such as pic related, but the algorithm being constantly tweaked made it like an arms race. It's tricky because YouTube has so much power for artists to get recognition and they keep gutting them; but at the same time, there is no real alternative. What are you supposed to do? I have no idea.
>>147154569what the fuck is StuGo even about at a glance/looking at just the promo art?
>>147154936StuGo is a generic beanmouth cartoon fresh off the CalArts Style assembly line. All the characters look shit. It is truly one of the Steven Universes of all time.
>>147154569pffTOH got 610k views on its first episode in S1 and at this point TV was already dead dead.In my opinion, the art style and the lack of marketing really kills shows. Also binging format (Moon Girl).
It really sucks that the recent Disney shows in TV only get like 0.05 - 0.15 millions of views. While Amphibia, TOH and Big Green City managed to get to 0.30 or 0.50 views easily.
>>147154899zamn that channel is barely getting views
>>147154616Nielsen ratings in general have been on a steep downslope now that streaming is the go-to way to watch new stuff, which begs the question: why are they planning to wait until their vague "Spring 2025" date to add StuGo to Disney+? Won't that hurt the show's outreach? Shouldn't you WANT to make your new show as readily available ASAP so you can gauge audience demand and decide on a second season pickup sooner rather than later? Just doesn't make much sense to me
Can you imagine? Growing up on 90's cartoons. Cartoons made by people who were sick of the systems in the 70's and 80's. Execs who actually gave animation a budget and a chance to shine. Artists who were so eager to finally work on something worthwhile pouring their hearts, souls, and talent into their work. Some of the best TV animation we've ever seen. Shows that are so good, they're STILL recommended to people 30 years later. You, as a kid, look at that and think the world of animation is limitless and if you just worked hard and got into the industry, maybe, you'd get your own show and your own chance to shine. And then the time comes, but now the industry has been so viciously gutted and raped and you barely scratch 100k viewers. By a major fucking network. And not only that, but your pitch was probably bogged down by so many notes that it just became another, forgettable beanmouth cartoon that no one cares about and will be dumped in one month. What a fucking travesty.
>>147155351StuuuuuuuGOOOooooooo! StuGo, StuGo, StuuuuuuuuuuuGooooooOOO! (StuGo! HEh heH Ha ha hA hAaaa stugOo) StuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuGOOOOOOOOOO! StuGo!
>>147155445Such a fun, catchy theme song wasted on such a nothingburger of a cartoon. It's literally the best part of the show.
>>147154609>Kids do not care about western cartoons anymore.FTFY
>>147155601I agree that anime is going to outlive Western toons, but it has its own expiration date.Japan's population is shrinking and it means they go extinct or they're just too old to work anymore.
>>147154936It's about a group of kids who were tricked into being stranded in an island filled with mutant creatures. It's an episodic comedy.
>>147155235Well, the problem is that if you bombard the viewer with a bunch of episodes very quickly, you lose their attention. This way, they get a more consistent stream of engagement.
>>147154609And that's a good thing. I may not like everything Glitch puts out, but it's worth it to slay CN and what's left of Disney's animation division on the way out.
>>147155762But why the massive gap between when the first couple episodes premiere on TV and when they premiere on streaming (where the majority of viewers will ideally be watching)? It's bad enough that they're releasing two full half-hours each week for January, but waiting even longer to then dump all these episodes on Disney+ months later leads to some weird dissonance where so many cord-cutting households won't even know the show exists until "Spring 2025." This in turn makes it even harder for Disney TVA to decide if a season renewal would be worth putting into production, not that I expect StuGo to even get such an opportunity.
>>147154609literally me
>stugo airedmega?
>>147154609Skibidi Toilet is a cartoon. Maybe Disney should stop making gay cartoons filled with they/thems, and start making violent mecha animations. Children yearn for it.
>>147154569WHY ARE CHILDREN NOT WATCHING OUR CARTOON CALLED "STUGO"???

Calarts fangays have either trooned out and subsequently unalived xirselves or grew up and are now too busy with the baby to watch cartoons. (And no parent actually wants their kids to watch cartoons, deep down we all know it's brainrot)

>>147156714In-universe? Not really. It's just basically a bunch of kids fucking around. And they're upfront about it.

>>147154569First rule of anything kid related: make it interesting looking. Something that is great but looks generic won't get watched by kids.
>>147157127>Brown girl kino is over >Shota-fag shit will now become the normFuture is looking grim

>>147155601>being a retarded weebkek
>>147154871Because YouTube ad revenue doesn't go very far when you have to pay people industry standard rates and have corporate overhead. WildBrain has a division that makes YouTube slop for profit and it's slop in the truest definition of the word. Extremely low end animation, lowest common denominator writing. Their Popeye shorts series was infamously dialogue free because they wanted to make it accessible for third worlders.
>>147154609Well, they're certainly better off than the Steven Universe victims.

>>147165467There’s isn’t a hell hot enough for the cocksuckers who created Netflix. They literally lied to everyone about how financially successful their platform was (it was built up entirely on debt), and every gullible studio executive fell for it and decided to make their own streaming service. The worst part is that it didn’t need to be like this. I miss the days when streaming was just on Netflix and the big studios would lend their content to Netflix but they still put everything on cable. It was the perfect system, I didn’t need to buy a dozen services
