Why don't they produce more? Doesn't seem like animation is that time-consuming or costly.

They are too busy diving into Scrooge McDonald Duck money piles while sniffing herion off of rat babes

Is this show really such success?
They renewed it for season 3, and for season 3 only.
If it had been a great success it would have been renewed for 10 seasons like Rick and Morty

Zach has made it clear early on that they do not want a constant re-run of the series and that 2-4 or 2-3 seasons is the sweetspot for most animated shows in interviews. I would not be surprised if they get another offer after season 3 premiers and they gear up for a final season before attempting another project.

sitting down and doing an actual show probably drained every last ounce of willpower from those computerbodies

>According to Hadel, the budget for the entire first season was equivalent to that of a single episode of Family Guy (an estimated US$2,000,000)
I actually think that's pretty expensive, considering Family Guy spends 80% of their budget on voice actors, and season 1 was the equivalent of 5 Family Guy episodes.

where did he say this?

This was a while ago with the advent of season 1 iirc. I think it was the create unknown podcast or something like that, he's done a few interviews. Interesting shit regardless because he talks about the seasons development history and scrapped ideas of concepts.

I think I listened to both of those episodes, one with zach and one with both of them. 2-4 seasons is smart. 5 max

That, plus I think he mentioned he'd like to do a movie if he ever got the opportunity. That'd be neat.

I remember the creators saying they wouldn't want to run Smiling Friends into the ground, but did they really say just four seasons at the most? That can't be right...

This is a good thing
Fuck 45 minute runtimes, that's a whole ass movie right there
