When you guys read a long run of something, when do you stop and read the annuals? I know they're not always relevant, but some noteworthy stuff happens in them. Like the first ASM annual has the Sinister Six in it.

Annuals are usually announced at the end of an issue or you just read them after 12 issues of a run. Otherwise there's places that will tell you when to read issues.

Hm, maybe I missed the announcement on some of my reads. I know you can look up lists, but I was more thinking when recommending a series to someone

I don't know about older comics but trades tend to include annuals. It depends on the comic and the era. Single issues not only have extra issues like annuals but even crossing over with other comics that factor in and that's even for old comics. That all might be confusing but I stick with trades or at least be aware of the reading order for a run.
