Were you too old for it?I feel like I was (slightly, I would have been 12) but I think a larger part of that has to do with the fact by the time this show debuted Cartoon Network was no longer a premium offering on my cable plan so I was spending my time over there looking for kid-focused entertainment than I would have been when Nick was the only network for kids I could watch.
spongebob isn't a preschool cartoon anon
>>147158182I was 6 when it started. but I never really cared about it
>>147158229No but maybe like four years earlier it would have been RIGHT in the target demo for my age range. That said I could still enjoy it if I were more frequently exposed to it, hence my belief that the real reason was just the disproportionate amount of time I spent watching CN vs. Nick by that point.
>>147158182I was 6, so I was right in there.
>>147158182I never thought of SpongeBob as a kids show. I always thought of it as a show for all ages that just happens to be "aimed at kids"
>>147158182Spongebob skyrocket in views with college students when it first airedI mean, i got the show recommended by my dad after he watched it on a plane
>>147158182I was 16 when it debuted. I was already a fan of Rocko's Modern Life for 6 years so I was predisposed to the style of humor.
Bump
It came out the same year I was born. I grew up with it and enjoyed its golden era greatly as a child. I probably stopped watching it around age 10 or 11, I wasn’t lucid enough to realize it had declined though, I just figured I had aged out of it.
>>147158182i grew up on it
>>147158182>Were you too old for it?Dude SpongeBob came out like a year before I was born.
>>147158668>Wee wee
>>147158182I was born in '95, I was the exact right age for this and it was one of my absolute favorite shows. Still quote it in my head regularly to this day.
>>147158182Nah, became too old for it when YouTube Poops and Newgrounds/YT animation kicked things off circa 2007-2009
