Why did David Lynch turn down the role of Bill Cipher in Gravity Falls but agree to guest star as himself in The Cleveland Show, of all things? Did he hate Disney? Was he friends with Seth Macfarlane? Did he know something we don't?
>>147159303IIRC Lynch just didn't want to play Not-SatanHe picked Gus/Cleveland Show instead because playing a quirky self parody of himself in Gus was more fun and let him parody his larger than life oddball persona
>>147159303If he did gravity falls in would give them license to rip more off twin peaks, socially speaking. The Cleveland show was a spin off of Family Guy so he knew what to expect, something like with Adam West or James Woods. Basically he was protecting his brand and advertising himself/his work. It's just smart business.
>>147159469Plus more appearances and the fact that he's playing the "on the surfact normal but actually has weird things going on" character instead of just quirky god
For the last time Hirsch was just starting out, Seth was well known and successful, it isn't a hard choice at all faggots.
>>147159793Also I’m pretty sure Fox checks are bigger than Disney channel checks
>>147159303Because he already made Twin Peaks.
>>147159303Lynch's entire body of work was praising people willing to be individuals. It was absolute lunacy on Hirsch's part to think the man would agree to "hey, wanna be in my new show? I'm doing Twin Peaks, but for kids."
>>147159447Did he actually want to inter the Japanese?
He was friends with Cleveland's voice actor.
