No, it's a cartoon, so it's technically from the writers' imagination.
Seriously tho, they had an episode where they made Cassie believe it really was all just her imagination and she was just some lonely schoolgirl, but they escape that fake reality at the end.

That episode with her in school was actually a mental prison that her and Marion were thrown into for violating the Prime Directive.

Far as her dad goes, apparently one of the planned episodes for the second season would have had her find him only to discover the space pirates from the intro had brainwashed him into being a villain.

So the guy who wrote that fake bounty poster in the first episode was kinda correct.
