I wasn't a fan of this book, not terrible but not very fun either. Felt like it ended up prattling along.I suppose the focus on Big Jim didn't interest me, stuff like the made-up backstory took up wayyy too much time from the main scenario; even if Grampa is funny with how much of a shitheel he is throughout the book. The Space Cuties also had a fun concept, I hope they continue to play a role in the sequel since they didn't feel too prevalent here.>>147173646Thanks man
>>147173743I had similar feels towards the book. It's still charming. But I feel the past books never gave me a reason to wanna care too much about Jim. He works better as a comic foil than as a main lead.Maybe the next book will justify Jim's lead status, but as it stands right now. It's a fine book. Not peak. But its fine. Also no probs. I hope I did a fine enough job storytiming, despite a few fuck ups.

If any draw anons are here. I am requesting Petey as pic related.
>>147174090Seconding, but give him the caption “when your absentee dad and the fat retard go on an ‘adventure’ together.”
After reading some of the books I have high hopes for the film. It seems to be mainly adapting the first 3 books but has the foresight of what happens after, so it knows Petey's past and the relationship Dog Man and Petey have with their son. And some of the early books didn't hit as hard as the ones later on, so it will be good to see an adaptation that fleshes out how the trio came to meet.
I GET IT.He's called Petey because you pity him.
>>147173112Dog man can make dog noises. Dogs can't talk in this universe only cats
I've seen so much ship art between the two, yet in the books it seems like they don't even care about each other after a certain point.
As per tradition, here's the story starter for this book. How is Captain Cupcake going to save Sprinkles? You decide!>>147173085It's Nurse Lady.
>>147174487Yeah, it's funny. They're currently living together raising a child together which is a shippable idea on its own, but you just never see that part dwelled on any.
>>147171608
>>147174780Pilkey dismissed the idea with Dog Man being more of an older brother type and I can see it. In a disturbing way, Petey made Dog Man>>147174798Is that the request from earlier?
>>147173075narcotics aren't until the next Big Jim story anon

>>147176978>CoperWe're proud horse dealers
>>147176530I like to think that Petey's idea of love was based his own ideas of unconditional subservience and shallow compliments. His idea of love was warped after the death of his mother due to the suffering he's had to endure for most of his life, along with the lack of love from his other surviving parent and most people he meets. He only started understanding what love truly means after the creation of Lil' Petey.
I do like that the new movie seems to be focusing on Dog Man and Petey's rivalry instead of just him and Lil Petey. Seems like they struck a good balance with all the main characters, as Dog Man started feeling incidental after a certain point. I guess it will also please the shippers, but building good relationships is a good idea in general.

>>147177305Underpants and Krupp were still major players. Even if the character was static, they were almost always involved in some way. And for the movie they did gave him a bit of an arc with his crush, which seems to happen here as well. I think for the books it works, but for a movie you do need to give proper development to everyone, even if the story really is about someone else.
