What went wrong?
>>147166774There's only one male protag (the kid doesn't really count) and he's a beta bitch while the rest of the main cast is ugly girls
>>147166774Its just not very interesting and hasn't been advertised at all
>>147166774Why has there been so many threads of this in the past few hours?
>>147166816Either its an astroturf or people are laughing at it
>>147166835why not both?
>>147166799>the kid doesn't really countWhy?
>>147166774Kids just aren't interested in the kinds of shows executives think they want. Everything has been gentrified to such a state that no kid wants to watch what's on Disney or CN when the Internet has way better stuff. I'm guessing that at some point a shift in what Disney makes will have to change at some point if they want to keep making profits off cartoons. Either that or just import everything from Canada like the good ol days
>>147167415Doesn't Disney already import French stuff like Miraculous and PJ Masks?
>>147166807> hasn't been advertised at allYeah it almost feels like Disney is trying to bury this show. I smeeeeeeeelllll a taaaaaaaaxxxx write off
>>147167621I don’t think /co/ understands what tax write offs are
>>147166835I'm laughing at it. Why does it look so retarded?
>>147166774nothing, so far it's been great!>>147167415it's safe to say at this point they despise profits. money's evil after all, and they don't want to be eeevil rich 1% businessmen!
>>147166774it’s not completely out yet
>What went wrong? For one, what the hell is going on with this show's promo pic? It just looks like a bunch of random crap thrown together haphazardly and with a slight hint of beanmouth.
>Oh what's that? Every show after mine is flopping and your whole network is snakebitten?>Toooooo baaaadd.....
>>147168062well the basic premise of the show is a bit tough to sell visuallythe point of the poster is, if you like big fuckin dinosaurs and explosions and motorcycles, this show will probably eventually have those. Mutants and little dork kids it has already.
>>147166774Generic art and writingUninteresting premiseNo advertisingCali is busy being on fire for most of the "friends of artists" to give a shit and advertise it on social mediaOnly one episodeTake your pick.
>>147168076ask me how I know you didn't watch it.
>>147168091I genuinely don't know how you could infer that from my post unless you're just baiting and gonna reply with, "Errmmm the story is great, actually, very funny!".
>>147168067Citizen Reminder: Hailey's On It never dropped below 100k viewership. Report unregistered flopping to Disneyland Civil Protection, immediately.
>>147168105the writing is quite refreshing, the premise is fucking unique, and it has two episodes thank you. Each containing two half-episodes.>>147168112i dont understand why they would release this information
>>147168124Wow, is that a group of quirky kids going on a supernatural adventure with an optimistic leader and unconventional mentor? Gee golly.
>>147168179nnno... like I said, you didn't watch it. Let me pitch it for you and maybe you'll give it a shotit's a group of complete and total dorks (something no show has ever done) yet each is a subtly different KIND of dork, who all get along, who went to this island for what they were told was a summer camp. But in reality it's a lazy supervillain who just wants them to fix her death ray and shit. And she pretty quickly gives up but she's also not going to support them, so it's kinda like... much nicer Lord of the Flies. they're all determined to prove they can survive and stuff.and also there are amusing mutants on the island, including one who talks like guido sarducci. funny shit.
They shouldn't have called it StuGo. Really sounds dumb. Like something you'd imagine for five year olds about a kid named Stu who always ... Goes.Additionally, I am incapable of not reading it like Peacey P's Stu-G-O.
>>147166774You double niggers not giving it a chance as usual. You wanted a new show that was goofy, not lore-driven, and had a unique style. You got what you wanted and are now shitting yourselves in anger.
>>147169077>all of /co/ is a double niggersMy knee-ga, even if someone said they wanted those things, they can still end up not liking the show for whatever else
>>147166774What doest StuGo mean
>>147169533
>>147166774It just came out, man.>>147166799There's two boys. And are we not counting mutants like Mr. Olaf (I think his name was).
Please care about brown girl adventures..
>>147169703Crazy how they named it that despite the crew mostly being made of women with one guy... waitaminute
>>147166774Post a photo of the DEI showrunner i assume created this trash.
>>147170419There's like, two white girls in the cast.
>>147167415Bluey is their best import
>>147168067Still got mogged by Dana
Boring, boo, fucking boring
beta jay said it's good so it must be true
>>147170426Ryan Gillis >Six gifted middle schoolers are invited to an island to attend what they believe is an academic summer camp, but it turns out to be a ruse perpetrated by Dr. Lullah, a mad scientist who lives on the island. Unable to leave for three months, they must contend with the island's fantastical and dangerous flora and fauna, much of which has been created by Dr. Lullah.[3][4]The premise of the show is 6 kids trapped on Epstein island for 3 months.Read the room, Disney
Anyway, will you be watching the new episodes tomorrow?
>>147166774Really everything, rewatching in bg as I'm doing other stuff and it really is just boring. Think as anon below says. They made a big mistake not having a truly diverse cast.Should be either slightly bigger cast or more diverse. Almost like danganronpa, each are valedictorian but in a specific thing.>Strong kids(maybe sports or physical based)>Smart kids(good at science math etc)>Streetwise/crafty kids(being able to build, or come up with plans/schemes)Be fun if maybe the kids aren't always on the same side too. Since it's basically like wedon'twantcha>Mc should be all around or more not number 1 in any but that makes them best as being 2nd in everything still makes you pretty stacked.
>>147171474Well, all the kids are highly intelligent, but one guy has dubbed himself the role of the muscle, while another girl is also well-built.
>>147169077I didn't ask for it, don't lump me in with the rest of the retards
>>147169077
>>147166774Dead on arrival. Will last one season and then cancel it.I actually enjoyed a few episodes of StuGo, but people care so much about other things like revivals that they won't give original shows like this one a chance.
>>147166774Just a more crappy boot leg of Total Drama.
>>147171771Eh but it feels like a after thought also she more just another smart kid and not really specifically strong more just fat.
>>147172229I wish.
>>147166774I haven't even seen it and just looking at the characters in the poster is annoying me
>>147166774As someone who has never heard of it, 'StuGo' as a name doesn't really give you any idea what the show is about, and honestly neither does the poster really. It's just a bunch of Instantly Forgettable looking kids and I guess there are dinosaurs? or is that a Kaiju? The art style is not appealing enough to make me want to watch it to find out either.
>>147169533It's the sound you make when you vomit
>>147166816Someone is going nuts trying to fill up several threads with similar posts. This show seems to be a focal point for them. Probably because it just came out. Many of the posts are the same throughout the threads. I only wonder what must have happened lately to inspire it.
>>147166774just look at it
>>147173391It got mentioned in one of the Knights of Guinevere threads and took off from there
>>147169077You forgot the part were it supposed to be good and not be ugly.
>>147173391My guess is its being used as ammunition in the indie vs corporate animation arguments. Dana's new show collaboration with GLITCH also recently dropped, and she used to work with DTVA
>>147173424>Dana's new show collaboration with GLITCH also recently droppedConsidering how often she gets brought up in these that's probably the inciting incident. That explains that screenshot throughout the catalogue that's been showing up and why so many of the same posts have been made. >>147173417I only just heard of this here. I saw it on the catalogue but didn't think anything of it. Now it makes sense. This is going to be an annoying week. Don't even really blame the show or anything. Just a convenient ammo for shitters to shit.
>>147171474every other show fucking does that. i love that we get a show of ALL nerds for once. but they're still different from each other.
>>147172558it's not good art, but this is western cartoons, what were you expecting? >>147173126i agree the title is fucking retarded. I really want this show to go the distance though. it's funny and weird.
The first episode centers primarily around the Chinese shirtless boy's left arm getting the power to extend infinitely as stakes get raised. At the end the gang learns that they were all involved in a psyop. The villain is immune to blackmail, she literally says "Nobody extorts Dr. Lullah." One of the characters is also obsessed with dried oranges? I think this has significance?Basically I think there is a lot of shady shit in this show but it purposefully obfuscates a lot. It has this whole "We know more than you do" vibe and I can see how that was offputting. I hope it fails, it has negative energy.
Also I have further evidence the show is steeped in symbology because at the start of the second episode the Chinese boy says "I wanted to eat this yellow butterfly, but I fell in love with it instead." I don't know the specifics but butterflies specifically yellow ones are a Chinese symbol of wealth and prosperity from earlier dynasties. Two more things: The cast is obviously all autistic, which is really fucked up because that's basically Disney admitting what they think about their audience. Also, the brown girl protagonist is an unreliable narrator and clearly meant to be seen as obnoxious. Cue sign tapping or something.
>>147173568i dont recall dried oranges coming upwhat the fuck does 'negative energy' mean for a cartoon? you sound like a faggot.
>>147173463It's bizarre to see how that one teaser has spread all over this board. Even barely related threads have "Fuck Disney, Disney sucks" in multiple posts.
>>147167621I don't think they do that
>>147173650Then you didn't watch the episode. Stop insulting people if you don't know what you're talking about. It's not that big a deal.
>>147169077I actually like Lore cartoons. People who try to shit on them are fair weather friends that are gone the minute a silly cartoon comes out.
>>147173662Yeah it's unusual. I mean the anti Disney thing is usual. Almost every Disney show thread would have some, especially when it just premiers. But this is oddly automatic feeling. A lot of it is the same posts too. It's odd.
Zoomers killed this board
>>147173711it's all russians, chinese, robots, and chinese russian robots.
>>147173683those are regular oranges>>147173956damn rightshould have made it harder to get in here. like you have to know how a URL works.it's weird how the internet is fucking isolated now that google search only displays people who bribed them, and every other search gave up and they can't make a new system because all websites block non-google crawlers.
>>147173956>>147174579Millennials killed this board. This was a Gen X site.
>>147174595You don't know what millennial means
>>147174618yeahbut what he THINKS it means, he's right
>>147166774>What went wrong?>people are more fed up with Disney constantly using Cal-Art, Adult Swim and quasi-Picasso styles in their cartoons>the spitting on Disney continues regardless of whether it was an independent series or a movie>they were fed up with the main characters being girls and not boys>a parody of Total Drama>they are bored with adventure series and are looking for comedy>they will boycott Disney because they cut out their favorite series that recently endedThese are just my assumptions. To be honest, this is not bad, although the style is disgusting, but the story itself is very exciting and I would prefer it to the idiotic Primos. This was made by the French animation company Xilam, which previously worked on Oggy and the Cockroaches. However, the idiots will not stop spitting on it. I would definitely prefer these new ideas, rather than working on reboots of old Disney cartoons to bring back nostalgia and ruin their original works. Although I would rather they bring back the earlier Disney style as it was before the 2010s era.
>>147175860i dont remember any good disney shows in the 2000s
>>147175879House of Mouse, The Legend of Tarzan and Lilo and Stitch were good shows. So was Dave the Barbarian. If you don't like the 2000s Disney cartoons, you have the 1980s and 1990s, that's what I would call real Disney.
>>147176026None of that is real Disney. The real Disney died after Rescuers
>>147176026you know what, yeah. Those were good shows.>80s and 90s is real disneythat's what I was thinking. But you reminded me of those others.
>>147176026>>147176048>Kim Possible isn't real Disneylol
>>147176054kim possible had a lot of good in it but it had a LOT of shitty teen stink on it. i can't watch more than a few episodes without cringing super hard.if you did a cut that removes half of Kim's scenes and all of her little brothers, and replaces the theme song with something less gay, i'd watch.
>>147176067It was always shit. Ron and the dad were the worst part
>>147176074i remember absolutely nothing about kim's dad aside from what he looks likeRon was best character, followed by Drakken.
>>147176085Eh…Shego was the real highlight
>>147176067Why the fuck was the theme song so gay
>>147176085>Ron was best characterlollmao
>>147176041>The real Disney died after RescuersI'm talking about DTVA, not Disney movies.>>147176054I haven't forgotten about it, it's a great series, but I intentionally didn't mention it because there's a lot of controversy on this board, as well as Phineas and Ferb, which were great cartoons from the 2000s era.
>>147176074Not here industrycuck
>>147176095shego is third. then uhhh lord monkey fist.. and it's hard to remember the rest.>>147176102there's this thing that I think someday we're going to find out is this real nefarious thing someone was pushing, making every teen thing really like... grunty? like pained singing. and every teen show is full of idiotic gushy drama? it was a whole thing. disney did it then Nick followed.
>>147176143oh yeahhh I always think of PnF as a 2010s show but it did start in 08, i just didn't watch it til /co/ convinced me way later.
>>147173693Most honest response that post has gotten, least you admit your tastes are just different.
>>147176146>a cheesy pop song for a girl's cartoon is something nefarious Why are you people like this?
>>147176177All I said was I wouldn't be shocked if someday we found out it was part of a social engineering program. Like all that butt stuff. If you know ANYTHING about engineered corporate pop music, you should know they would absolutely put in subliminal messages if those were real. They'd gladly summon the devil by playing the CD backwards if that were a thing. Most of what holds them back is reality.
>>147176688Why does this board attract so many schizophrenics
>>147169533Nobody knows. Not even the creator of StuGo knows.
>>147176710Where have you been living that schizophrenia doesn't match what reality turned into?
>>147177062Touch grass
>>147177067Ooh fantastic comeback. Nobody's ever used that before.Smoke some grass, maybe you'll get more creative.
>>147177092>he doesn't deny being a shut in
>>147177102i'll stop being shut in when they fix 'out'seriously where i live you could get shot. they're literally fucking bombing us and the police do nothing.
>>147176146>>147176688Kim Possible is genuinely Satanic. Look it up.
>>147177111I am sorry that you live in LA
I liked it.
wait a minute, i'm not getting banned for you
>>147177043They did say it means "student government". It's a term that describes the kids basically being left to fend for themselves, but otherwise, it doesn't really matter.
>>147177587they should have called it "Forever Field Trip" or "Unsupervisland"
I watched the first episode, it's inoffensive fluff but it doesn't have the sincerity of Kiff, it's like hackneyed lolsorandom humor which feels very dated. I have no idea why this got approved. It's better than Hailey though.
>>147178145>I have no idea why this got approved. Been wondering the same thing every day since those first two episodes dropped. Ryan Gillis revealed in an interview that he first pitched the show to Disney in 2019. So you mean to tell me it took almost FIVE WHOLE YEARS of development just to result in a final product that still feels largely cobbled together and lacking in enough substance or scope to fill out a long-form series??
