Time we had one of these.Talk about this Franime from the early 2000s, what you like, dislike, hate, love about it. Do you wish it could've been darker? Did you ever have a crush on any of the characters?Prompt question:Would you love for an reboot to come back? If so, when would you set it: Early 2000s like the OG, or experiment with it set in modern times given the advancements in tech and social media? If you were in charge of a reboot and gave it a Mature rating, what kind of stakes would you add? What kind of plot points?

>>147173540I think we were supposed to have some stuff in the summer and it just didn't happen, weird.
>>147172094Amazing show, I loved it. Literally got canned because the top dog got bored.
>>147172094Sissy is cute
>>147172094>Would you love for an reboot to come back?A reboot? No. A sequel? Yes.> What kind of plot points?I have some ideas for a sequel but for a reboot I got nothing.
>>147173987>Literally got canned because the top dog got bored. What do you mean?
>>147172094I kept track during my last rewatch and the VAST majority of Sissi's encounters with the main cast start with her minding her own goddamn business followed by someone (usually but not always Odd) starting to hurl insults at her completely unprovoked and the show portrays this as totally justified and any attempt at a comeback from Sissi is treated like somehow she's the one being a bitch.Sometimes it doesn't even stop there. Sometimes one of our "heroes" will pull a particularly cruel prank on her, again completely unprovoked. The one that really stuck with me is when Odd made a film about her to humiliate her making jokes about her "giant ego" as if he's one to fucking talk. The Lyoko Warriors were fucking bullies man.
>>147174842The show later realized that and justified it as Sissy having 'betrayed' them when they first found the supercomputer so the main group held a grudge until said later episodes where they realized they were being assholes and made peace with her.
>>147173540God, I want nothing more than to see Code Lyoko make a return. I'd love for it to have more mature topics, maybe talk more about the deaths that prompted them to be careful with the RTTP feature.Though my biggest worry is that it'll be ruined by woke shit and pull garbage like Yumi going lesbian or Aelita or Odd coming out as trans, not to keep in track with the diverse culture that was in the original show, but "just because" in a way that feels forced rather than just there like the original.
>>147175360>or OddPretty sure the interview had them mention Odd being gay or bisexual.
>>147175360>not to keep in track with the diverse culture that was in the original show,It was less of a diverse culture and more of a basic fact of a boarding school in France, especially at the peak of social integration in the country.
>>147175489I could see him MAYBE being bi but leaning more towards women, but I can't see him being just gay, given how actively he pursues girls in the original show.
I think a reboot would only really work if they still retained the 2000s time period and didn't try to make it "modern day" so to speak. A lot of the things in Code Lyoko worked simply because it was 2003. Personally, I'd prefer a direct sequel (one that mostly ignores Evolution while maybe implementing some of the better ideas from it).Not too hefty of a time skip but enough to make XANA's return plausible.Retain the action to slice of life balance that the original had going.Maybe introduce another "big bad" either working with, for or even against XANA. Answer the unanswered questions like Anthea's whereabouts (again, ignoring Evolution). Definitively say yay or nay to Ulrich/Yumi (I don't think anyone wants to go through more will they or won't they). If we're going more mature, I think it'd be interesting if the psychological effects of what the Lyoko group went through are explored a little bit. Especially with William and Aelita.
>>147173540If there's ever a sequel I unironically hope they try to match the primitive, blocky early 2000s CGI of the original for the Lyoko scenes. Obviously it only looked that way because of technical limitations of the time but it was a really fitting aesthetic.
>>147175841>Maybe introduce another "big bad" either working with, for or even against XANAI had an idea where the Lyoko gang would end up working with a XANA who got over his brain damage to combat a bunch of nascent God AIs in modern days.>A lot of the things in Code Lyoko worked simply because it was 2003.Modern Code Lyoko would be an instant bad end because XANA would just pull a Israel and make the group's phones all blow up in the middle of a call.
Let's say one of us rebooted the show with an official team and decided to add a new Lyoko warrior from the beginning. They end up forming bonds with the others and potentially disrupting the love conflicts between Ulrich and Yumi, and Aelita and Jeremie; they're not Gary Stus/Mary Sues, meaning they're just as vulnerable as everyone else, but they end up creating love triangles and have an honest chance of ending up with either of the characters, potentially ruining established fan-ships. Would you be okay with that?
>>147176231>Ulrich and YumiThey already had that with William, so whatever> Aelita and JeremieAbsolutely not
>>147176231No, no more love triangle. Have him fuck Sissy, she's there, completely single and a beloved character, giving you an excuse to have her around more while also tying the new guy to Cadic beyond just being a new addition to the group.
>>147172094>what kind of stakes would you add? What kind of plot points?Pretty much the same but with more sex, like Ulrich and Yumi actually fucking and Aelita just casually sucking off Jeremie under his desk as he work.
>>147176307Seconding this, I don't care about R rating just to have more useless blood, especially in a show that's all about the digital space so there's no reason for blood or guts to fly around.Have the horny teens be horny teens, especially those like Aelita and Jeremie who are basically married already.
What's up with all those questions? Are the showrunners trying to run a poll or something?
need to do a rewatch but I feel like social media and xana would be a deadly alliance.
What are you looking at, Jeremie?
>>147172094I didn't like this show back when I was a kid. The forced anime shit felt so tacked on.
>>147176817Those feet are massive
>>147176866Exactly
The fan project, IFSCL, has the concept of Jeremie having to use a 10 year RTTP (as in going back 10 years to when he first found the supercomputer) that could work as a baseline for a soft reboot, maybe? Some things would be the same but there's that underlying "this has happened before" plot device.
>>147174338She really is
>>147177151Does IFSCL now start with them being adults and 10 years passing since the events of the show?
Yumi got me into Japanese tomboys, and I'm forever stuck with an itch I can never scratch.
A reboot should lean more into the Cold War/ WWII secret experimentation stuff
>>147178328It's a french show that happens in France.
>>147178328watching the show after school and watching how suddenly the credits changed into this spy music and a folder opening to show cool b&w photos and circled faces made so fucking excited and it's kinda sad they dont explore a lot of the conspiracy and backstory of the supercomputer. Most of it is just Jeremie saying "I looked into it lol this is Francis Hopper lol" FUCK YOU use lyoko to go into secret government computers and explore old files and shit dammit
>>147178379Yes and France went thru both of them, and other countries had interest in developing computing power among other stuff including france* . The show already brought the US government into it Franz Hopper and the school principal seemed to be tied to some secret shit maybe tie french bourbaki group into it for fun
>>147178468>France went thru both of themYeah, as a secondary character to the US and England, it'd be retarded to base a show happening in France on stuff like that.
>>147178526you dont seem to know french industrial and computing/mathematic/internet history , or the Germans and their sympathizers..Or the Swiss for that matterFrench Intelligence did plenty of CIA shit during the cold war
>>147178552Seeing the CIA doing CIA shit will always beat seeing other countries do CIA shit to help out Uncle Sam.You're basically making your entire crew the B team to a larger conflict, which is boring.
>>147178526Didn't France actively work with the CIA during the Cold War?
>>147178599That's kinda the point, they weren't doing their own shit, they doing stuff for the americans, at that point I just want to see what the americans are doing instead of what their servants forgot to clean up.
blu-ray when
>>147178598>>147178613maybe its best you dont know what the French got up to in WWII and the cold war, both in cooperation with US/UK, and on their own.....but supercomputing and advance mathematics is not out of the questions for France and Switzerland. Have you heard of CERN and W3C? they kind of have a big part in the modern internet. And yes im throwing Switzerland in with France for sake of conversation, Europe is the setting
>>147178668I'm not saying they can't have done it, I'm saying that framing the entire conflict as some extension of Uncle Sam using France as a code monkey isn't compelling.
Aelita was actually born in the early '80s
>>147178613>>147178695Like when the show brought in the Secret Service (which was funny as fuck), or were teleporting to secret facilites around the world?Or the fact the super computer is based off of the American Cray Supercomputer? You seem to only want America portrayed so you can turn around with your confirmation bias that we are shitty people, and are letting that get in the way of fun settings/storytelling
>>1471787001981, to be exact, if we're setting CL in 2003 with the show's release in France. She was 12 in 1993 when she was locked away in Lyoko, remained 12 in 2003 but chronologically 22.Assuming about a year between her materialization and shutting down the supercomputer after XANA is destroyed, Aelita would be 13 going on 14.
>>147178732>Like when the show brought in the Secret Service (which was funny as fuck),Who were downstream of XANA, not the other way around.>or were teleporting to secret facilites around the world?Facilities created and controlled by XANA, not the other way around.>You don't want the show's story to be reduced to 'micro non-threat discarded garbage fighting with kids while the big player countries that actually matter do the important stuff offscreen', that's bad.
