>>147175864The film is Ruby Gillman Teenage KrakenIt's initial trailer show the mermaid, Chelsea, as the villain but lead-up to the film's information kept it vague and following clips made Anons speculate there must be more than meets the eyes with the film causing Anons to speculate more interesting plots in their head .The following clips showing the titual Ruby Gillman and Chelsea becoming unlikely friends reinforced these theories and that her role as an antagonist would be more nuanced than you'd expect or there was some sort of twist the trailers weren't showing.Then the movie comes out and lo and behold, Chelsea is not only the villain she's a shitty twist villain that's revealed to be evil at the last 15 minutes of the film.Not only that, they had the best chemistry in the movie up until those last 15 minutes.But not only that, the backstory that made her interesting (being the daughter of the evil mermaid queen, Nerissa who was defeated and died trying to reclaim her magic trident) is a complete lie because she IS Nerissa.And then the /co/ found out about the production of the film, Turns out, Chelsea being Nerissa was an incredibly last minute change in development including this storyboard.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GubwNUZyyAoCue literal months of daily discussion over the film with Anons finding out more and more and more about where this movie went wrong every week./co/ discussed this movie more than Elemental, Wish, Kung Fu Panda 4, The Wild Robot, etc solely because of how baffled Anons were by production history of the film.Chelsea could've easily been a Tai Lung level antagonist had they kept her backstory intact and the potential with it but instead it's fucking squandered with Ruby as a character actually degrading because of it.
