Got any unpopular Transformers opinions?
>>147209902I liked Transformers 1 and 3. The unpopularity is >liking any of the Bayformers at all
>>147209929i liked all 3, i dont remember what happens after the third movie, galvatron fights the dinobots or some shit
there should be more romance, particularly cybertronian/human, romance in the franchise
>>147209937>galvatron fights the dinobots or some shitOne of the 4th's greatest sin is that they don't do this at all.
I can't wholeheartedly enjoy the Unicron Trilogy version of Starscream. Don't get me wrong, the Armada and Cybertron takes on him are both great in a vacuum, but the severe disconnect between them makes each weigh the other down for me. Yes, I'm aware of the behind-the-scenes reasons for that, but it's something I just can't get over. And the less said about him in Energon, the better.
Humans need more presence to establish scale. Otherwise they're just normal sized robots in a normal sized setting.
>>147210017I think it's less about humans and more about better camera angles. Otherwise, you get this effect where you're constantly regarding giant robots as tall humanoids like in ROTB.
>>147209929The real unpopularity would be saying you liked The Last Knight like me. It may even be my favorite Bayformers movie.
I liked 2, moreso than 1 and 3, devastator balls and all
>>147210015>Yes, I'm aware of the behind-the-scenes reasons for thatI'm not aware, explain.
>>147209902Transformers and Sonic are essentially an equal level of autistic, Sonic just gets a worse rap because it's fan base has a few standout horrible members.
>>147209902Optimus should have stayed dead.
>>147210110Well, long story short, Cybertron was originally set in its own continuity, but the American localizers decided to make it a sequel to Energon when they brought it stateside.
>>147210181>t. Galvatron
Prime is mediocre and boring to rewatch
I'd like a re-release of the Marvel 80 issue run. And if there is one already for someone to point me in the right direction.
>>147209902G1 and Prime (2010) are the only great things in the franchise.>>147209997>there should be more romance, particularly cybertronian/human, romance in the franchiseI wanted to self insert as Jack and vigorously oil Arcee's bearings like no one's business
to this day The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime gets me goinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq1_6D9QS9Y

>>147210309>I wanted to self insert as Jack and vigorously oil Arcee's bearings like no one's businessBased. I don't know why, but Prime Arcee just does it for me and I'm not much of a clanker.
>>147210342Me neither. She just had such a sensual, human design. You'd almost expect to feel an uncanny warmth if you touched her. To say nothing of the size difference...you'd just get lost in all of it.
>>147210342She's pretty much a tomboy feminine design with a soothing voice and is tied to the target audience of young males. She was practically made to appeal to clankers in denial.
>>147210181Which version(s)?
>>147210375>>147210379All true.
>>147210015Just go with Japanese continuity where Armada/Micron Densetsu and Cybertron/Galaxy Force ARE separate takes.>>147210110Cybertron was initially conceived by Hasbro and Takara as a sequel to Armada/MD and Energon/Super Link, however they got a new studio, and there wasn't really anything in the series that tied back to the previous series. The English dub made some callbacks and Takara used to have an online timeline that lumped them together, but outside of toylines and other promotional Hasbro media, Cybertron is treated as completely its own thing, as seen in the 40th Anniversary Special Movie.
>>147210274Kinda, but it's never outright bad and it has its moments in Season 1 and early Season 2.>>147210309Do you actually like the show or just Arcee?
>>147210379>>147210390Yeah, she's basically a demure, Amazonian tomboy muscle girl made of metal instead of flesh>>147210415>Do you actually like the show or just Arcee?I loved the cast, the animation, the story. It just felt like...prestige. Same vibe as pre-Disney Clone Wars. Welker and Cullen back as the big two with fucking JEFFREY COMBS as Ratchet. Great fucking show.
>>147210331my man
>>147210431I feel like they should have just named her Chromia, just to give the name recognizability an update outside of her just being Arcee's Thundercracker.
Marissa in Kiss Players was hot.
>>147209902i like dorito Starscream despite how terrible he is as an adaptation of Starscream. i actually really like his design, even if his colors are bland. also, even though he barely tries to betray Megatron and just seems more like a meek and incompetent character instead of his usual cunning and deceptive self, i still like him for whatever reason
I'll never forgive Bayformers for how they did Jazz dirty. But I'll be damnded if it isn't a fascinating look at how someone progressively gets more annoyed they have to make Transformers films to run out his contract. And obligatory GIVE ME YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!!
>>147210415>but it's never outright badthat's what mediocre means
>>147210551Yeah sure, he's the Starscream the other Starscream would beat up for lunch money. But I did like that he was an Igor to Megatron. Sadly, the best Starscream script got relegated to the Nintendo DS Transformers game where he actually conspired against Megatron and would have saved you, the player, from the bad ending.
Mass shifting is good and cool and also basically unavoidable as a toyline-based universe. There is literally no way to avoid this. Even the
>>147210725ANON, WHAT HAPPENED?
>>147210725FUCK. "Even the movies used mass shifting for shit like the Allspark."
>>147210778DAMN YOU CANDLE JACK!
>>147209929My opinion of these movies has changed but now I've settled that they're braindead cinematic masterpieces. Bay is a Zemeckis without pretensions that he is intelligent
>>147210725mass shifting is good but only if it's presented as subtly as possible. I didn't like the mass shifting in a few scenes in ROTB because it was presented as too straightforward and kibbleless, and looked like a downgrade from the first movie.
>>147210103same, 90% of discussion on that movie is overblowing the Romeo and Juliet law joke.
>>147210835That was Age of Extinction.
We need something that seriously explores the potential ramifications of giant alien robots emerging in the mid-1980s. What would the Transformer factions think of the Cold War?
>>147210905"They WON'T use the nukes? Buncha pussies."
>>147210905Free missiles for the 'cons. They'd occupy Cuba and the Autobots would try to persuade the Americans and the Cubans that the Decepticons are the ones behind this. Americans can't play ball as easily or the Russians would think they're in cahoots, while Khrushchev would avoid an all-out war over this in the end by flipping a coin and believing the Autobots.
>>147210808They're definitely good movies. Entertaining popcorn flicks you could watch with your friends who don't really care about Transformers. But, as Transformers movies, they definitely leave a lot to be desired. Good movies, bad Transformers movies.
>>147209902Humans and Earth ars an integral part of the appeal.
>>147209902Skybound Shockwave was better than most Shockwaves, and I say this as someone whose favorite Transformer is Shockwave. Having him actually act like a real mad scientist was fun, and I hope it continues forward. He can still follow logic above all else, but he doesn't have to actually be cold and calculating all the time (especially if Soundwave's also cold, calculating, and doesn't express any strong emotions). Being a logic-oriented individual doesn't necessarily mean the character has to deny all forms of emotion and be serious all the time.
>>147209902In would have preferred if they kept Sheila Boof and Megan Foxx as the main humans.
>>147210955I've always thought "The Cuban Missile Crisis was a Decepticon plot" is a great idea and would make great fodder for a limited comic series. Hell, it's standard Decepticon practice in some continuities to cause a host-planet's advanced civilization to self-destruct before strip-mining it for Energon, and when did human civilization come closer to self-destructing than October 1962?I know X-Men did it already with First Class but Transformers could do it too.
>>147211050I agree with this. Shockwave is at his most interesting when he does have emotion but still works by cold logic. My ideal Shockwave is like Megatron's loyal vizier, praising him and giving advice like the G1 cartoon, but if something were to happen to Megatron, it wouldn’t bother him similar to the G1 comic. Besides, it’s always more logical to be the second in command, if things go wrong, the first in command always takes the blame
>>147209902The Bay movies are bad
>>147210309beast wars and bumblebee movie (just the designs) are the only great things in the franchise
>>147211966Animated? Prime? G1 or at least the Marvel comics? Shit, even Armada and Cybertron are kinda good.
Starscream should be able to keep up with Megatron in a fight.
>>147209902I think we need to see more of the Dinobots, not less. Give them their own book. And I want them all to be dangerous retards, or at least all of them talk like retards. I don't like the idea that only Grimlock does the "me Grimlock" thing and they say it's because of a glitch in his vocal processor or that it's an affectation but deep down he's really super smart. I also don't like the origin where Shockwave experimented on them. I don't like them being a Combiner, either. Maybe have Skylinx be their transportation/tard wrangler, and a lot of their stories are bookended by Skylinx dumping the Dinobots on a problem and then showing up after they've blown up everything.
