Thanks OP, this is the last remaining Pilkey graphic novel I've yet to read. Back before his hiatus, when I used to visit pilkey.com he talked about how this particular book was inspired by some of his earliest childhood comics with a character called Water Man. He scanned his original pen-and-paper comics as PDFs, and reading those was really inspiring to me as a kid, even more than his published books because it was literally indistinguishable from the writing and drawing abilities of any kid. It was refreshing to see home many of his stories were completely shameless "parodies" that were just repeating jokes and storylines from the things being parodied. I recall a Three Stooges crossover where the final gag was Water Man hearing a doorbell and finding he'd be terrorized by the Marx brothers next.He also mentioned the villain for this was originally going to be named Pee-Pee Longstocking. Little kid me shamelessly stole this name for a character in my own comics, but it looks like by the time the book was published many years later he had changed it to (the less funny) Rip Van Tinkle. so who's laughing now Dav?
