I think it has a lot of heart and style put into it and it should be inspirational to anyone who lacks animation experience or good hardware who think they can't start working on projects for their because they don't think they are ready too. I like Pan he's one of the very few likeable animation YouTubers out there.
But goddamn if he didn't learn anything from the adultswim pitch. The world building is still a convoluted mess. Most humans are so cartoony that most of them look like IRL's. The subject matter and world just make no sense. Bianca wants to "pitch a cartoon". In a world were cartoons characters can come to life. How does that work? And this is more personal but Pan's style is kinda ugly for me.
But this is one of those cases that even if I don't like the show honestly I hope it does well and gets a fanbase.

The opening sequence was cool and had cool vibes; Pan knows how to set the tone with music. I watched it with my mom and the first thing she said was, what's an IRL? That little tidbit of saying how they're different from humans was not enough to explain the concept. Then I had to pause again to explain that they use IRLs to fight like pokemon. Now thats two times I had to stop and explain. Anytime the audience has to ask "what's going on?" You've already lost. Pan had many moments in here where that happened. We only get a brief segment where we meet the main girl in a Y2k outfit change with text that goes by way too quickly, I feel like we should've met the main characters first. It's supposed to be the first episode, like why is she with Loki? What is any of this? Her motivation of getting a cartoon should be plainly stated instead of being an offhand comment you can easily miss. The art was surprisingly drawn poorly in places. There were times when I thought it wouldve looked great if a professional drew the characters. And the animation sequences made the main girl look surprisingly 3D with lots of volume which I didn't really like since the style is more flat. The final fight at the end where everyone was saying the animation goes crazy I didn't think looked that great, but also, it was trying to be that one ending fight of One punch man in space but it was completely unreadable. Anime fights already get flack for how confusing and hard to follow they are but this was ridiculous. Didn't know who was attacking who. Milky mint and Loki just blended together at times. Animation is about clarity of action, you never want it that muddled. Not only that, but the shots kept going! It was shot after shot of unclear staging in the fight, where I kind of checked out at a certain point in disbelief someone could make something this confusing-looking. Though when it works and you can feel the scale of the world and it's potential, it's cool as shit.

What is there to say or latch onto? I was gonna say "It's just another generic [X]", but I actually had trouble thinking of what to describe Loki IRL as lmao. It's hard to even say much about the pilot because it's such a nothing story. The world isn't particularly inviting because it has no unique texture (the OC concept means anything can exist so there's no world-building niche to draw you in like "a world of cool/cute beasts and tamers" or "a world of superheroes"). Tone-wise it doesn't play it as either a comedy or as serious, so that's not appealing. The designs are alright? It clearly wants to be P&S/Super Milk-chan/similar Y2K type art, but it reads as an aping of those other works without the sheer talent and vision behind them. Loki IRL is just a whole lot of nothing.

Opening sequence is easily one of the worst parts of the whole dumspter fire of a pilot.

this is just sad. its like if ian jones-quartey created a labor of love but was utterly talentless and somehow more cringe but not in any charming or endearing way. gaudy and asinine is the best way to put it. it actually made me depressed because of how much effort and care was obviously involved but its just so bad its unwatchable unless youre the type who cant avert their eyes when witness to a tragedy. its a major blackpill and it has really altered my mood and perhaps even beliefs on passion the creative pursuit and spirit

10 minutes in and i feel like it's throwing you a lot of exposition and this is a 31 minute long episode. you have moments of exposition and other times where nothing happens but you wish they could tell you what's happening. Also IRL ART is such a mouthful name.
Pan has a lot of ideas for this show but he should take things slow

i really don't care for pans art style. its very hard to follow, the shapes of his characters is unique yes but the directions of all the lines is nonsensical and makes it difficult to comprehend character details. i'm not good at putting my feelings into words. also i know its not perfect because its just a pilot/proof of concept thing but i feel like i shouldn't have to go out of my way to remind myself "don't be too hard on it, its just a pilot" that often when i'm watching through the thing

for a pilot is not a bad first try but Pan really need to take a step back and go easy with the exposition. He shoots all his load in this first video leaving us with no sense of wonder. He made an attempt of a shonen style story but in all shonen you need to expand the battle mechanic and strategy and i don't know if Pan is familiar with it

I read through some of the 500 reply thread, but none of them go into detail, at most barely 5 people barely mention about the superpower not being used.
I'm asking so that I don't have to do a review on it. Most of the zoomers here seem incapable of going into details and especially comparisons to other shows to form a concrete perspective.


I read Pan's comic and it was far better than the pilot, while ironically also saying back then that Loki's "fairplay" was a "little" retarded and Bianca as a future character doesn't work and should be replaced ... and that was when Biance & Loki weren't losing for 33 minutes straight.
